Markus followed the scent. The trail getting stronger and stronger with each passing second. It also led him to a forsaken building at the other end of town. Markus parked the bike and gazed at it. Boarded up windows. Shingles falling off of the roof. Paint peeling off the siding. Markus wrinkled his nose with disgust. Why would any creature want to live there?
It dawned on him then.
Only when the creature wanted to keep a low profile.
With a half-snarl, Markus got off the bike and walked across the empty street to the front door. It was firmly shut, like it hadn't been opened in forever. But the scrape marks on the porch say other wise. Narrowing his crimson eyes, Markus opened the door and entered the house. As his hand strayed away from the doorknob, and walked in deeper, the front door closed suddenly.
"Who dares enter the home of the Shianru Coven?"
Markus let his fangs elongate. His eyes were probably glowing anyways. No point in hiding. And besides, this was a vampire coven.
"Answer!"
Markus growled and opened his mouth in a smile that bared his fangs. "I am Markus Kallaticus Taen. Vampire from Greece. Covenless and Wind-bound." His lips twisted into a sort-of sneer. "I demand to see the leader of the Shianru Coven."
The silence after he spoke was almost deafening. Then, he heard whispered voices in a different language than his native Greek, English, and the little Cherokee he knew. Thank the gods Zaou wanted to teach Markus the language Zaou had grew up speaking. The whispering voices faded. Then;
"Come; Greek vampire Markus. Our leader awaits."
Markus nodded. Once. His crimson eyes blazing. Then, he followed the voice.

"Welcome. Markus of Greece."
A voice greeted the Greek vampire and he was stunned to see that the leader was a woman. Tall, but smaller than him with long black tresses and glowing eyes the colour of emeralds. But he knew instantly not to be fooled by her. She was a new-ish vampire with a thirst for killing unnecessarily.
Ignoring all pleasentries, the old vampire bared his fangs and growled, "What are you doing here?"
The woman chuckled. "We want to claim this town. But since we have only gotten here today, we have all decided to wait until tomorrow before staking it out. Why does it matter to you?"
Markus narrowed his crimson eyes until they were glowing slits. "Because I live here. In this town. My claim is stronger than yours." As he spoke, he started to radiate an aura that read 'Respect your elders or Hades curse your soul.'
Now it was the woman's turn to narrow her eyes. She didn't have anything to say to that. But she quickly issued; "Then I challenge you for control of the town."
Markus chuckled. "I would accept. But I have a small condition."
"What would that be?" she asked.
The Greek smirked and turned to leave. "I shall think on it, fledgling. In the mean time, stay here." He left just as he heard her enraged cry.
Hopping back onto his bike, Markus started it up and rode it back to his apartment. The sun had long since set during the time he had been inside the decrepit house that served as the Shianru Coven's temporary home. He had much to think about before he would give that woman his condition.

I could feel the repercussions from staying up to late as my pounding headache tuned out the noise from the students conversing through out the classroom. I rubbed my temples, wishing I hadn't stayed up so late. I couldn't help it. This thing about Markus was eating me a live. Or maybe it was just Markus all together keeping me awake... I shook the thought away, after an irritated grunt escaped my lips. No, this couldn't just be about Markus. This was about... Well who he really was. But, not all about him. No way.

Markus walked into the school with a slow gait. His hands were in the pockets of his pants and his crimson eyes were darkened as he brooded over the condition. He couldn't think of it last night. So he would have to think of one today before giving it to that... woman. She already irked him.

Finally, to stop the noise from the students to make my headache any worse, the teacher came in, did the usual greeting, and started with his attendance.

Markus didn't even hear the bell ring when he noticed he was late to class; the halls were void students. With a slight groan, the vampire jogged to his first period and slipped into the room before quickly going to his seat.

I ignored how my pulse quickened the second Markus entered the room. After a short scolding from Mr. King to Markus, about tardiness and how irresponsible it was, Mr. King started with his lecture. I fell asleep, my arms as pillows on the desk, after five minutes of the lecture.

Markus didn't pay attention to the scolding that Mr. King gave him. Because as soon as he sat down, he started to think more... in depth. Though, he did notice that Paradise fell asleep not five minutes after Mr. King resumed his lecture. It made a smile curve his lips.

I had thought the headache would have died down by the time I woke up, but as the bell rang, my whole body jumped and the ringing rang in my ears for the next five minutes. I grabbed my things, doing a small wave at Markus, before leaving the classroom. If he was the one keeping me up, I sure will not try to keep much conversation with him, other then when I'm snooping during lunch.

I had made sure to avoid Markus - or avoid looking at him during class like my habit these days... - all through out my classes, and now it was lunch. I could, so to say, 'get my fix'. Though, I did tell myself that I was only talking to him to get more information. Seeing as this thing about him was bothering me to no end. I sat down where we usually sat, without a lunch. I didn't have much of an appetite today.

Lunch. Markus strode into the cafeteria without pausing and followed Paradise's scent to the table she was sitting at. When he noticed she didn't have her lunch, he cocked his head to one side. "Not hungry?" he asked.
