[[ Lol. :D ]]
Throughout the rest of the morning classes, Adam and I messaged each other - about Markus, for the most part. Actually, for all of it. It was the only reason why we would ever be in a situation to talk outside of school. This whole thing was still weird. The way Adam asked me things. How he wanted me to observe Markus the way it would be to just completely expose him. Every little thing he did was watched. I wasn't stalking him, following him anywhere he went. But, just during class and in the hall, I would catch many glances in his direction. Seeing if anything was out of the ordinary. There never was. He was just being his usual, casual self. Part of me was glad that there was nothing to worry about. I hadn't planned for this, but I ended up being behind Markus as I walked to the cafeteria. I couldn't help it, seeing as we both were always headed in the same direction since we had the same schedule. I almost ran right into him as he stopped to... To what? As I walked passed him nonchalantly, I saw from the corner of my eye that he was massaging his throat. Did he have strep? Odd. I sighed, doubting Markus has strep throat, as I walked inside. That was the first weird thing I've seen all day from him. I took my phone out and quickly messaged Adam what I saw before finding a seat at an empty table. I wasn't really hungry so I chose to not buy anything. Tiredly, I put my arms on the table and used them as pillows as I rested my head; waiting for Adam's response.

Once Markus had his food -- this time a few slices of pizza and a bottle of water -- he headed towards an empty table in a corner of the cafeteria. When he sat down, he folded one of the pizza slices and bit into it. After several more bites, he opened the bottle and took a few mouthfuls of water. He had continued this routine until the pizza and the water was gone. His stomach now growled a lot less and the constriction in his throat had begun to ease off. He left out a breath of relief. Maybe just a few more days before going hunting. He'd just have to start eating mortal food for the majority of the time.

I lifted my head from the table as I felt my phone vibrate. That's weird. What's he doing now? I rolled my eyes, clearly not enjoying my job too much right now. Now, it was more then just watching Markus, but I think he truly wanted me to 'stalk' him. I frowned and looked up at where he was, just a couple tables down. Eating. I replied back saying what I saw before doing the fun part of this job of mine. Actually talking to the guy. I got up from the empty table and walked over. I sat down silently across from him before looking up at Markus. Did I get shorter, or did he get taller? Either way, I felt small at that moment; feeling like I was doing this completely wrong. "Hey." I said, trying to read his ex pression to see if he was still in a icy mood.

Markus blinked slightly when Paradise sat down at the otherwise empty table. "Hey?" he asked, a little weary. His cool tone had defrosted since he knew he couldn't stay mad at her forever. It wasn't her fault really. "Anything wrong?" Markus had tilted his head to one side.

I've only known him for a couple days, and he could easily read me. What was up with that? "Uh... Not really." I said, lifting my shoulders slightly; trying to act as innocent as possible. "You alright?" I asked, bouncing the question back to him. This was how I was supposed to do it right? Seem normal, don't start with the random probing questions I was supposed to ask. If I heard one word from Adam on how I could have done this better, he'll die.

Markus shrugged one shoulder. "Depends," he replied. Then, he ran his white digits through his silvery hair. "Apollo needs to stop pulling his chariot across the sky. And Artemis needs to start her hunt." He had referenced the God of the Sun and the Goddess of the Moon of the Greek pantheon. Though, he was starting to get a little tired of the sun. Night was when he best operated.

I looked at him for a long moment, completely confused on what he was talking about. But that didn't matter, I'd figure it out later. For now, I just had to satisfy Adam so he could get out of my hair. "So... Have you met anyone around here, yet?" I asked, hoping he'd at least made some kind of progress with finding friends.

Markus cocked his head. "Other than you?" he asked, mostly to himself. Then, he shook his head as his crimson eyes closed. "No." His eyes opened slightly. "I'm not big fan of people. Never have been." Which was true. Even back in Athens when he was a kid, he spent most of his time by himself.

"I can tell." I said with a small laugh escaping my lips. For a moment I stayed quiet, trying to think of how to change the subject to be more personal - without trying to pry. If I was going to do this, I'd make sure Markus said everything willingly. "So, what school did you go to before this one?" Perfect question.

Markus paused at that question. It was honest enough, but it still made him think. "Uh..." What was the name? He had been to so many highschools over the years all over Greece after finally deciding that he could finally fit in with the rest of humanity. "Forgot," he murmured as he tapped his forehead gently. "Some school back home in Greece."

He... Forgot what school he went too? I frowned at him for a long moment, studying him. He could be telling the truth. But still... It was odd. I mentally noted the information before adding, "Greece? Oh, so Greek is your dominant language, right?" The language in the journal, of course it is. Seeing as that was self - explanatory, I added, "Wow. I've always wanted to go to another country. Why'd you come to America?" Oh, this might tip him off, but I hadn't even meant to. I was getting pretty good at this.

Markus barely nodded at her first couple questions, but her third one made him pause. Why did he come to America? Shrugging he replied; "Needed change of scenery." After a moment's though, he added; "Wanted to learn English, as well."

I nodded my head, interested. For a moment, I completely forgot I was doing this for Adam. I was just enjoying... Us talking. "So how did you get here? Just had... A lot of money?"

Markus narrowed his eyes at that. "Parents were dead long before I ever left. No family left. Wanted to start over," he said as he leaned forward across the table.

I stared at him, again, for a long time. I forgot about how his parents were dead, and I inwardly scolded myself for being on the subject. Finally choosing the best question I could think of next, I also leaned forward on the table, closer to him, "Don't you get lonely? Living by yourself?" The way I had asked the question even scared myself. It was almost as if I cared. Was it bad, to care about a guy that could be hiding something? My eyes stayed on his own, waiting for his reply with genuine empathy.
