Zane smiled softly when the girl leaned into his touch, putting her hand over his. Though, her words made him frown even more. Light headed? He didn't believe her, but it was fine. She'd tell him sooner or later when she wanted to. He didn't want to force her to say anything she didn't want to.
Zane rubbed his thumb lightly across her cheek while he examined her face. With a soft sigh, he removed his hand and put it at his side.
"I suppose," He said with a shrug. He looked up to the clouds and frowned. They'd have to set up camp soon; it looked as if rain was coming. A possible storm, perhaps. That wasn't too good.
"Forgive me, Zera," Zane said, turning back to his Princess. He grabbed her hand and gently brushed his lips against her knuckles.
"I've forgotten how the humans, as you say, prune." He gave her a teasing smile before offering her his arm. To help her out, it seemed.

Zera smiled as Zaniell's lips rested briefly on her knuckles. She let it reach her eyes. She wouldn't worry about her lifespan yet. she still had many, many years to live. And she still had a good two or three years before she was as old as Zane, she guessed. Or, at least, as old as he looked.
She rolled her eyes and hooked her arm through his with a smile. She still had the change of clothes in her knapsack, which was on the back of the horse. That other dress was a bit dirty, and had a few tears on it- along with some bloodstains that had come from her feet.
Speaking of her feet, they were healed. She could take off the bandages. She would do that as soon as possible, she decided. Probably when she was putting on the new dress. She turned herself towards the bank where the horse was, and looked up at Zane before moving forward.
"It's perfectly fine that you forget that we prune. You don't have to worry about it, so you're lucky," she said, wading through the water.

Zane stiffened at her comment. How could she say that? He was cursed to a life of drinking blood, taking life, living forever and watching the things he loved die around him. But it was okay, but he was lucky enough to not prune in the water.
But, his anger was misguided. He reminded himself to relax his shoulders as they waded back to the shore. He gave the girl a quick smile before responding.
"You're right; I'm entirely lucky right now."
God, he hated life. What he wouldn't give to get old and prune-like. He had certainly lived long enough to do so... Multiple times. He held in a sigh at the thought. Some day, Zera was going to get old and prune like... And he would still look the same. He wondered if he would still love her then.
Wait, hold it. Back up. Still love her? He had to love her now to 'still love' her later. He glanced down at the girl on his arm. The way she moved was graceful, her eyes beautiful, her soul old. She was smart, charming, and lost. He had found her. Would he call that love? Perhaps, but perhaps not.

Zera didn't notice how Zane got stiff when she commented. She was a bit lost in how things applied to Zane. She wasn't even sure if he was immortal, or if being a vampire only lasted for a while. Maybe there was even a cure? Could he walk into churches, without being burned by its holiness, or something like that?
She shook off the thoughts as she heard his reply. He was lucky right then? Perhaps he meant to be able to do everything, having her by his side. She felt her cheeks heat up, but no color was noticeable. Thank God. She felt her feet hit dry land, and looked down to see her bare legs.
She immediately realized just how close to being nude she was, so she released Zaniell's arm and ran over to the horse, grabbing her knapsack and running back into the patch of trees that she had shed her previous dress. She was cold, too, and wind was beginning to blow. They would have to set up camp soon, or they would travel during the storm.
Zera prayed it wasn't a thunderstorm. She hated those darned things. She'd had one bad experience with storms as a child, and ever since then, she'd been terrified of thunder and lightning.
She opened her knapsack and tugged a different dress over her head. She had dripped dry when she ran, so she was only slightly damp when the dress slid over her. The fabric was a light grey, a few shades lighter than her eyes. She would wait until Zane said that he was decent.
Or until he came to her. She had her eyes closed, leaning against a tree, so she wouldn't even see him coming.

[[ What, Zera doesn't want to watch Zane change? |D ]]
Zane couldn't help but chuckle as Zera literally ran away from him, looking for her clean clothes. She just grabbed her knapsack and went back into the trees, away from the man's searching eyes. Aw, that was too bad.
Zane slowly made his way back to the horse, looking for a clean shirt and a pair of pants. He pulled on his dark gray pair of pants and slid a black shirt over his shoulders. He liked his black clothes a lot more than his lighter colored ones; they made his tattoos stand out even more.
Zane silently crept towards Zera once he was completely covered. His damp hair was already drying nicely and the rest of him was already dried. He reached her side and grasped her hand in his.
"You look beautiful," He said softly to the girl, speaking honestly. He gave her a light smile as well. "We should probably set up camp... It looks like a storm is rolling in."

Ooc:// Zera would feel like she was watching a stripper in reverse. Cause Zane's that sexy. XD

Zera hadn't been standing there for long. She almost started to hum, but she was cut short when she felt a hand clasp around hers, and someone told her that she was beautiful. A small startled gasp slid past her lips, and she opened her eyes quickly. She had recognized his voice, but it had nonetheless startled her.
She smiled at him and felt her cheeks heat up, seeing as how she just now comprehended what he said. Zera knew that she was pretty most of the time, seeing as how she took care of herself, but it was good to have Zane tell her that.
Zera shuddered at the word 'storm'. She hated them. Thunder rolled in the distance, and Zera stiffened visibly. Great. So it was going to thunder and lightning. She bit her lip. "You're right. We should set up camp." She gave his hand a squeeze, and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek.

Zane gave the girl an apologetic smile when he noticed that he scared her. Poor girl. Having a vampire creep up on her and give her compliments. He probably would have pissed himself in her position. He means, he would have thrown a punch and ran away. Yes...
Huh. So, it seemed that Zera didn't like storms. That probably wasn't the best, seeing how this coming one looked pretty serious. The way the thunder rolled in meant lightening was close. Couldn't have thunder without lightening. Personally, the vampire loved the way lightening looked. It wasn't discriminatory towards it's victims. It took everything out in his path.
Zane gratefully accepted the light kiss from Zera. If he hadn't noticed her stiff posture, he might have acted even more on it. But, she didn't look comfortable with the fact a storm was coming. That meant they needed to hurry with camp set up.
The man squeezed Zera's hand softly before going to set up the tent. Just a few shoves with the stakes... Some tying here and there. And... Voila! Done. Vampiric speed used? But of course. Why wouldn't he be using what he had?
"Whenever you're ready, love."

Zera blinked several times, looking down as Zane squeezed her hand. When he left to set up the tent, Zera expected to have to sit idly by for a few minutes, but when she heard Zane's voice, she looked up again.
The tent was done! How did he- Oh, yeah. He had speed on his side. And strength. And just about everything else. Good looks included. She sighed and moved into the tent quickly. She wasn't going to let Zane see her in her scared state of mind. She wasn't scared of many things, but thunder and lightning had to be the worst.
She moved quickly towards Zane, giving him a light hug, thanking him, and moved into the tent. Blankets weren't needed, seeing as how it had warmed up considerably since the snowstorm. She sat down on the tent floor, and waited to see if Zane would come in with her or not.
She hoped he would, but she also hoped that he wouldn't. She didn't want him to see her all freaked out, but she wanted him there- to feel his warmth. To feel that he was there, and that he wouldn't suddenly leave in the middle of the night.

Zane softly hugged the girl back as she passed by. She disappeared into the tent, leaving the vampire outside. He rocked on the balls of his feet. She hadn't asked him to come in... So should he? He bit his lip as he contemplated what he should do.
Zane finally peeked into the tent, looking at Zera who was sitting on the floor. He cocked his head slightly, wondering what she was waiting for, if anything.
"Zera?" Zane's voice was light, cautious. "Would you be bothered if I joined you in there?" He paused, biting his lip again. "It's okay if you're not. I can probably stay out here with Bear, make sure he's fine throughout the storm..."

Zera hadn't been sitting there for very long when heard Zane speak. She looked up and gave him a smile. He sounded so cautious... What did he think she would do? Hit him? Attack him? That was a possibility, but on the good types of attacks.
Her dark grey eyes focused on his violet ones, and she said, "I wouldn't be bothered at all if you join me." She patted the spot beside her, though she was so tempted to just get up and pull him in with her. She was sure that Bear would be fine throughout the storm. Well, at least more fine than she would be.
Zera would probably be a shaky mess by the end of the storm. She probably wouldn't get any sleep, the poor dear.

Zane grinned goofily as he entered the tent. He didn't know why he was being so cautious. Probably because it was a weird predicament they were in. Well, he thought it was odd, anyways. Vampire and a human princess? Odd, indeed.
Zaniell plopped down next to Zera, giving her another small smile. He lifted his arm and wrapped it around Zera's shoulder. He gave her a gentle squeeze, a reassuring gesture. She didn't seem to like storms, and, if he could, he would do everything in his power to comfort her.
"Will you be okay when the storm hits?" His voice was soft, almost feeling like if he spoke too loud, he might injure the fragile girl.

Zera was glad when Zane came and sat next to her. It was good just to have him there, next to her. She could feel his warmth through the small few inches that were between them. She wished that those inches weren't there. perhaps if she curled up tightly against him, she would forget about the storm.
His arm snaked around her, and she felt a bit of tension melt away. Her mouth was set in a neutral line, and she looked up to Zane as he gave her a squeeze. The gesture was strangely reassuring, and comforting. She felt a bit more tension disappear, her muscles relaxing as she wrapped both of her arms around Zane's chest, burying her face in his shoulder.
His question made her nervous. Should she lie? No. The storm would hit, and then she would be a liar, and a fool. It was better to just be a fool, she decided.
"Probably not. I don't do well in storms. I never have," she said, chewing on her lip. Perhaps she got brownie points for being honest.

Zane embraced Zera in a hug as she wrapped her arms around his chest. He leaned his cheek on the top of her head, which was buried into his shoulder. It was a nice feeling, to just hold her. For her to hold him. He didn't know which was which at that point.
Zaniell bit his lip as Zera spoke. He would do everything to help her through it, that much was for sure. He held her a little tighter, pulling her a little closer. Mostly for him, attempting to protect the girl from Mother Nature. Ridiculous, wasn't it?
"Well, I can stay here all night, or until the storm breaks, if that helps?" Zane offered, hoping she'd accept. "And if it makes you feel any better, I'm afraid of dogs." Yeah, yeah he was. Dogs scared the crap out of Zane. A vampire, afraid of a pet... Ridiculous!

Zera was glad that Zane returned her hug. She was glad that they could do this. They could be this close, without Zane going mad over her blood. He really did have good self control, to be able to do things like this. She moved closer to him willingly, settling so that she was sitting sideways in his lap with her legs curled up against her.
She felt like he was shielding her from all the bad things that wanted to get her. Like he was her protector. She felt like such a child. It was a strange feeling, being sixteen, and still being terrified of thunder.
And Zane didn't mind staying like this all night? he wouldn't get any sleep if they were like this. Unless he could sleep sitting up... He most likely couldn't do that, though, she decided. Of course, she didn't know many things about Zane. She didn't know how old he was, with his immortal years included. She didn't know when his birthday was.
What? He was scared of dogs? But dogs were so... friendly. They were always comforting, and loving, and their love was unconditional. Heck, you could beat the poor sots, and they would still come up to you with their tails wagging, and their tongues lolling out of their mouths. They weren't the smartest of creatures, but they had one of the biggest hearts.
She snuggled closer to Zane, if that was even possible, and said, "You won't get any sleep like this, though, Zane. I'm sure it's not comfortable for you, either.

Zane's eyes widened as Zera sat on his lap. Well, that was unexpected. Yet, so right. He rearranged his arms so that one was wrapped around her waist, the other settling on her knee. She may have felt like a child, but Zane didn't see it that way. If she felt safe sitting like that all night, he would too.
"Don't worry about me, love," Zane said, pressing a soft kiss to the girl's temple. "I technically don't need sleep or air... But, it makes me feel more normal to have both. More... Human. Less of a monster..." He trailed off, just stopping there. "So, yeah. I don't need to sleep."
Zane paused, holding the girl closer and she snuggled against him. "And I'm about as comfortable as I'll ever be... I wouldn't want you anywhere else besides in my arms."
