Zera felt the effects of the bite still in her even after Zane pulled away. He had amazing self control. Zera couldn't control herself worth a crap. Zane was the one that stopped their kisses. Zane was the one that always pulled away. Zane was the one who protected her.
She pressed herself into his chest and sighed as he spoke to her. She felt much calmer now. The thunder and lightning seemed distant now to Zera. She was overjoyed at his words, but the effect of the bite kept her from getting too excited. He would do anything to keep her safe and happy.
She only hoped that was true. She'd been told that exact same thing by her father as a child.
She sighed again and wiggled her way up so that her head was on his shoulder, her arms wrapped around him as his arms were wrapped around her, and her face in his neck. The night would pass quickly like this.

Zane grinned to himself as Zera came closer, pressing their bodies together even more. He loved the way they could just sit there, holding each other. Him protecting her, and her letting him do just that. His desire to protect her was overwhelming. And, hopefully, he was doing a good job. He hadn't a clue.
Zane gently kissed the girl's forehead as she settled her head on his shoulder. Well, closer to the crook of his neck. If he hadn't just fed on her, he might have tried to do more. But, she was practically drugged. Talk about taking advantage of the situation...
The vampire sighed and closed his eyes, resting his chin on the top of Zera's head. He combed through her hair, using a soft touch. He wanted her to fall asleep in his arms, because when she woke up later, he wanted her to still be there. Sappy? Perhaps, but it was so true.

Zera let out a sigh as Zane kissed her forehead. She could feel her breath ricochet off of his neck and back onto her face, blowing some of her hair out of the way. Her dark grey eyes were half-lidded as he sighed, too, and rested his chin on her shoulder. She felt more comfortable than she probably would have been in her own bed.
She closed her eyes when he combed through her hair with his fingers. It was a comforting touch that Zera quite enjoyed. It didn't remind her at all of the days at the castle where the maids used to comb her hair. Zane's touch was much, much more gentle, and she actually relaxed at his touch. The effect he had on her was such an odd one.
The princess opened her eyes again as she heard her captor speak. He wanted her to sleep, hm? Well, she had no problem with that. Her eyes slowly closed shut again, and she let herself succumb to the darkness that promised sleep. Now, instead of the thunder scaring her, it simply lulled her to a slumber.
Her breathing slowed over time, and she finally went out.

Zane sighed as the sun began to peek over the horizon. For some reason, his body was becoming more effected by the sun each day. He could feel his body weaken as the sun came up, and strengthen as the sun went down. He wasn't too concerned by that, but it was certainly something he would ask the witch about.
Speaking of the witch, they needed to go. Soon. The Witch never stayed up long after the sun rose. She wasn't a vampire, but the sun did frighten her. And most of her customers came in the dead of the night. But, Zera was only human, so she needed her sleep, and strength.
"Zera," Zane whispered to the girl, not wanting to wake her up. She looked so peaceful asleep, as if nothing could bother her. She looked like his little angel. He paused his train of thought. Would she find that creepy? That he thought of her as his angel? He sure in the hell hoped not.
"Zera," Zane said, a little louder this time. They had to go, soon. "I can only carry you to the waterfall, but then you'll have to walk from there..."

Zera had slept very well, though her brain was comprehending the past events. Her father wanted her dead for the sake of immortality. She had been kidnapped, originally going to be led to her death by the man that she was asleep on at that moment. She and Zane shared some sort of odd connection. Or at least that's what she thought the tingly feeling was. They were supposed to see an old friend of Zane's.
The first time that Zera heard her name, it was faint, and it caused her to nuzzle Zane's neck. Her head had stayed on his shoulder all night. The second time she heard her name, she furrowed her brows and groaned, not wanting to wake up.
She opened her eyes just in time for him to state that he could only carry her to the waterfall, and then she would have to walk from there on. Why were they going to the waterfall? Zane had never told her about how they would have to go through the sheet of water, so she was clueless. Nonetheless, she was so sleepy that she didn't care about asking questions.
The princess stretched while she was in Zane's arms, turning her head so that it wasn't facing his neck anymore, and yawned, her muscles relaxing as her stretching ended. She really didn't want to get up.
But she really didn't want to be a burden...
The grey-eyed girl pried herself away from Zane slowly, and looked him in the eyes. "Morning," she said sleepily, pulling one hand away from Zane's biceps, where they had rested while she slept, to rub her eye.
"I'm awake. You don't have to carry me if you don't want to." She made sure to add the 'if you don't want to' part on. Hey, she didn't know whether the man got a kick out of toting her around like a sack of potatoes, but, if he did, she was in luck.

Zane couldn't help but chuckle as Zera nuzzled his neck. It... tickled. What? How in the world did that happen? He hadn't been ticklish ever since he changed. He was only ticklish when he was a human. That... That was odd. Probably just his imagination, though.
Zane let the girl shuffled around on his lap, doing what she did. Stretch, yawn, rub her eyes. Whatever humans did when they woke up. He watched her curiously as she did so, taking every aspect of her in. His little human angel...
"If I don't want to." Zane repeated, chuckling slightly as he did so. "Of course I want to, Zera," He said, pulling her back into his chest. He, in turn, nuzzled her neck for a second. "It's the perfect excuse to have my hands all over you."

Zera let a grin spread onto her face as Zane repeated her with a chuckle in his voice. When he said that he wanted to, and pulled her into his chest, Zera let out a few giggles and blushed slightly. It was easier to make her blush in the mornings. She shivered as he nuzzled her neck.
She raised a brow as he said that he had the perfect excuse to have his hands all over her. Puh-lease. She fought the urge to roll her eyes. She laughed a small laugh and grinned again.
"Excuse?" She repeated the word, a light laugh in her voice. "You don't need an excuse to have your hands all over me, Zane."
She seriously doubted that the man needed an excuse to have his hands on her. If he wanted to touch her, he simply would. That much she'd learned. Well, he'd touch her unless she was mad at him. Even then, he'd probably still touch her.
Ah, well, either way, she wouldn't mind.

Zane couldn't help but smile evilly at Zera's comment. Oh? Was that so? In that case... His hand across her midsection, his hands stopping to grip her waist. He nuzzled her neck again.
"You give me permission to have my hands all over you, Zera?" Zane whispered into her ear. Oh, that was probably not the smartest thing to say to vampire. If she said he could... well, he would. He so would.
Zane let a feral growl escape his throat. It practically vibrated through his whole chest. He kissed her neck, right besides the vein, once. A shudder went through his whole body. Oh god. He really needed to get away from the girl before she killed him. Yes, she killed him. Not the other way around.
"Your human body will be the death of me," Zane finally moaned to the girl, keeping his head in the crook of her neck. "This beautiful, amazing human body..." |

Zera knew she'd messed up when Zane gave her that smile. That smile held nothing but an evil ex pression. She was curious, for some odd reason. What was he planning? Her brain went through many different possibilities. Her thinking was cut short when his hands gripped her waist.
The princess let out a startled gasp and felt her cheeks heat up when Zane nuzzled her neck. She tensed up, her body going rigid for a moment. When he spoke in her ear, the princess fought back a shudder. Oh, gosh. He was pure evil. Evil, evil, evil. She loved it.
She technically did give him permission to have his hands all over her, though she hadn't realized it at the time. She was such a naive girl, always saying things that got her into some sort of mess. But this mess, she liked.
She felt bumps rise on her arms and her cheeks deepen a few shades of red as he let out a feral growl and kissed her neck. Her eyes squeezed shut and she put her hands on his biceps.
Her? The death of him? Pah! That was comical. He would be the death of her. He would end up giving her a heart attack. Or a nosebleed so severe that it actually killed her.
When he began to talk about her body, she felt her cheeks deepen to the darkest shade of red they'd ever been, and she chewed nervously on her lip. "Zane...." She whispered.
"You need to stop," she said, though her voice clearly contradicted with her words. She really didn't want him to stop. Whatever cruel magic he was doing, she liked it. It was giving her heart rate a ridiculous spike, and causing her pulse to quicken so that her heart beat like a running rabbit.
No. She didn't want him to stop.

Zane moaned as he felt, almost heard, the girl's heart beat quicken. Not quicken. Sky rocket. She certainly was going to be the death of him... He was positive of it now. He just wanted to lay the girl down and ravage her. But, that wouldn't be very gentlemanly of him, would it?
Zane's body stiffened when the girl said his name. Whispered it.... He would have preferred if she screamed into his ear. Maybe it wouldn't have gotten him so excited. Why did she have to whisper to him?
"You need to stop."
The vampire let out a sigh of defeat when the girl said this. He did indeed need to stop. But, he didn't want to. And, from the sound of her voice, with the increased heart rate, she didn't want him to stop either. But, was it what she needed him to do?
Zane didn't care what she needed at that moment. He needed her at that moment. Not in the entirely dirty way, you sick perv. He lifted his head and kissed her jawline softly. How he did it softly, he did not know. It took everything in his power to not just pin the girl down and kiss her passionately.
"I'll stop if you really want me to." Zane said quietly, the longing and hunger completely obvious in his voice.

Zera heard Zane's moan loud and clear, and she immediately knew what had caused it. Her quickened pulse and heart beat. He was sensitive to those sort of things, she guessed. She wondered if she was right. Heck. Of course she was right. The girl knew it, too.
When he pulled away and gently kissed her jawline, Zera's breathing hitched in her chest, and she chewed on the inside of her cheek. She wondered how he held himself back. Surely he was having as hard of a time as she was. She didn't understand exactly why she had told him to stop, anyways.
Then he spoke quietly, stating that he would stop if she actually wanted him to.
He really thought she wanted him to stop?
That was funny.
Zera let her breathing loosen again, though it was still a bit stiff, and said, "You thought I was serious?" Her tone matched Zane's, her eyes boring into his. She traced down his bicep, her fingernail tracing the tattoos that she knew were there, even though her eyes weren't on them at that moment.

Zane closed his eyes and shuddered. Her comment... Oh, god, her comment! The tone... Her body. He was going to have a heart attack. His heart beat an average of 15 times per minute, but a heart attack was coming. He didn't know if the girl should be sitting on his lap anymore.
Zane's eyes opened and stared into Zera's. All his longing was trapped into that one look. And yet, he couldn't act on ANY of it because of what he was, and what she was. Limited by the body. It was horrible. What he wouldn't give to be human again... Or Zera to be a vampire.
No. He would not subject this sweet, wonderful girl to a life of what he was. Even if they got to spend forever together, act on every little thought and touch, be able to be together...
Zane's eyes flickered to the girl's lips, the ones he wanted to kiss so badly. Well... One little kiss wouldn't hurt her...
Zane leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, opening them just enough to encase her bottom lip between his two. He was so tempted to just nibble... No. No nibbling! No biting at all... Unless she wanted to... She wanted to bite him, of course.

Zera watched as Zane closed his eyes and shuddered. It was... interesting, to say the least. Her lips curved upward ever so slightly into a grin. She really had that much of an effect on him, did she? Apparently so. She wouldn't complain. It was nice to be able to affect a man this way. As far as she knew, she'd never had a man act like this.
When he opened his eyes again, and his violet orbs flicked to her lips, she forced her smile to disappear. If he found her smiling.... God forbid. He may think she was getting cocky. Zera was anything but that, really.
When his lips closed around her bottom lip, Zera closed her eyes and mirrored Zaniell's kiss. Her head angled to the side, and she wrapped her arms around his neck lightly, though she was sure that her grip wouldn't stay light for long. Her lips were pressed against his gently, and she was sure that also wouldn't stay like that for long.
She caught Zane's lower lip between her own, and let his hair fall between her fingers. This was so dangerous. Zera knew it.
But, perhaps that was what made it all the more interesting to the princess.

Zane's grasp on the girl's waist tightened ever so slightly as she returned his kiss, running her fingers through his hair. He was barely breathing, not like he needed to anyways, as he kissed her. He didn't want to breath at all, if it meant more time with the girl.
Zane leaned forward, trying to get his body as close to Zera's as he could. It wasn't working too well, since she was already in his lap. But, the man was definitely going to try. He parted his lips slightly more.
Zane suddenly pulled back, knowing that he had to stop. He was going to... Well, let's just say that if he continued, she might break something. He sighed, definitely not wanting to do this... But he had to, for her sake.

Zera couldn't hear much other than the small 'smack' noise of their lips separating before going back for another kiss. That, and the sound of the blood rushing in her ears, and her pulse pounding. She swore she could hear that. She really needed to control that, in fact. It would be interesting to learn how to control your pulse...
Wait. Woah. Why was Zane pulling away? He'd just recently tightened his grip on her waist, and leaned forward, her body pressing against his like a puzzle piece, and then he pulls away. What the hell?!
Zera's brows furrowed and her eyes opened as Zane pulled away. Well, though his reason for pulling away seemed logical to most, it was completely insane to Zera. He pulled away from her. To say that they should get going. What happened to the whole 'all the time in the world' thing? She guessed something must have eaten it.
She turned her head away from Zane slightly, a bit angry at his sudden release of her lips. The past few times they'd kissed, he had let it go on for a while. Wait.... Was he scared he would hurt her? Her eyes widened. No.... He wouldn't hurt her, would he?
She chewed on her lip absent-mindedly. Instead of getting angry, her previous anger melted and was replaced with a bit of confusion. Her brows stayed furrowed as she stood to a bent-over position so that her head wouldn't scrape the top of the tent and moved away from Zane.
"Yeah, we should get going," the princess said, still not looking at Zane.

Zane bit his lip as Zera furrowed her eyebrows. She seemed almost upset that he had pulled away. What was she thinking about why he pulled back? Did she think that he didn't like her? Maybe she thought he didn't want her... Maybe she thought he was scared to do anything but kiss her?
Zane sighed as the girl stood up. If she thought anything other than the fact he didn't want to hurt her, he was about to make that fact very clear.
"Zera," Zane said, standing up as well. He had to stoop quite a bit to fit in the tent, but he still managed. "Look at me, please?"
He gently touched the girl's chin, trying to pull the girl's face towards his. "I want you to know one thing.... There is nothing more I'd like to do than staying here with you. To have all these little touches and not worry about the consequences." He paused, running his fingertips across the girl's bare arm.
"But I'm dangerous, love. It takes so much effort to keep myself in control. I could easily hurt you... That's why I pull away. I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you."

Zera listened as she heard the light sounds of movement as Zane got up. He had to stoop slightly more than she did. When he touched her chin, Zera closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. Perhaps that would make up for the fact that she didn't want to look at him.
The truth was that she was afraid that he would see just how much she was bothered by the fact that he could harm her. It did bother her, really. She had no doubt that he could hurt her, now that she'd seen him squash all of those men with simple grips. It was intimidating, really. It wasn't scary at the moment when he did it, but now she thought it was. Though she still wasn't afraid enough to kiss him.
He always was the one to pull away. He always was the one to stop himself from hurting her.
That showed how much he really cared for her. He cared so much that he would stop something that Zera should really stop.
Her eyes opened and she looked into Zane's for a split second, closing again. She spoke quietly, her soprano voice small. "I know, Zane. I know that's why you pull away. Thankyou for that." She opened her eyes again and leaned over to give him a soft, lingering kiss on the cheek, turning and moving out of the tent afterward.
Seeing as she had no clue of whether they would walk or ride the horse to the waterfall, she stood silently, leaning on a tree, staring at the entrance of the tent, waiting for Zane.

Zane sighed as Zera kissed his cheek, then left. He wasn't entirely convinced by her words. She may have been thankful that he was worried about her safety, but he couldn't help but wonder if there was something else. Maybe he was just over thinking it?
The vampire sighed and walked out of the tent, not looking over at Zera. He had to focus on taking down the tent, packing up everything. They couldn't take the horse through the falls, but it'd be nice to have the thing packed up when they got out.
Zane quickly folded the tent and put it on the horse. He walked over to Zera, a small grin on his face. They weren't that far from the falls, and if she was still willing to let him carry her, he would. Granted, he didn't know if she wanted him to.
