Zera stirred slightly in her sleep, pulling the blanket tighter around herself. Her eyes were squeezed shut and she seemed to be having just the slightest bad dream. Nothing terrible, though. Her arm slipped off of her knee and she jerked awake, her eyes opening slowly.
Her vision was cloudy at first, but she noticed that there was someone else in the room other than the familiar hooded figure that had captured her. She then noticed the tribal tattoos. That was her captor.
He was attractive, for a kidnapper, Zera thought. High cheekbones, muscular- very muscular, mind you- and dark brown hair. He actually didn't look all that older than herself.
She pulled the blanket tighter once more before she went back to sleep.

Zaniell awoke to a scraping sound, something on the windowsill was making the noise. He swiftly rose and opened the window, revealing a hawk with a small leather pouch attached to its talons. Zane grabbed the pouch and ordered the hawk away; he knew it was an order from his master and it needed no reply. Zane quickly read the note and sighed. It appeared they would be travelling to Tallulah Lake, or the Leaping Lake. It was rumored that was the lake where a water creature gifted King Arthur his sword, which was not, in fact, pulled from a stone.
The journey to the Leaping Lake would be a long one; they had to cross Garander Pass in the Mt. Range just East of the cottage, a dangerous journey indeed. If they were to get to Tallulah Lake before the end of the month, the two would have to leave immediately.
"Princess," Zaniell called, touching Zena's shoulder lightly to wake her. He tossed the King's letter into the glowing embers that used to be a fire. The paper easily lit and burned before his eyes. They had to move soon, or else the sacrifice would be worthless.

Zera hadn't woke with the scraping sound, but she opened her eyes and sleepily yawned when she felt someone touch her shoulder lightly. She rubbed her eyes to clear her vision and sniffled a bit. She had a crick in her neck. She rubbed the side of her neck.
She then let her eyes travel back up to her captor, who was still cloak-less. She hadn't asked his name yet. That just hit her. She yawned once more and decided to be bold and ask the question. "What's your name?" She clenched and unclenched her fists, working the stiffness that had occured from clenching the blanket too tightly out of her fingers.
She sat up straight in her chair and resituated her hair so that it sat on her shoulder. "Why did you wake me? I was sleeping so well."

Zaniell watched the Princess as she woke; he couldn't help but stare. Her beauty left him in a trance. The way her hair sat on her shoulders, her cute, little yawn. It was then that Zane noticed how good her blood smelled. It was enticing. Not like other blood, which just smelled like food. Her blood...
Zera's words snapped Zaniell out of his trance. His name? Hadn't he told her? Wait, of course he hadn't. Why should a captor ever tell the captee his name? There was no use of it. But, she was to be sacrificed soon enough; there was no harm in telling her his name.
"Zane." The vampire said after a moment. "My name is Zaniell, but you may call me Zane." He looked away from the Princess, towards the kitchen. He had to stock up on food for the girl. It would be a long journey to the passage. At the base, they would stock up again.
"We need to leave, m'lady," Zaniell said softly. "We only have one horse, but you can ride and I shall walk. The horse also has to carry your supplies." He paused again. "We leave in 10 minutes, whether you're ready or not."

Zera thought that his full name was unusual, but it was interesting all the same. It held a certain charm to it- for a kidnapper, that was. She rolled her head around, trying to work out the crick in her neck. Goodness, she was going to be sore.
When he simply told her what to do, and when to leave, and especially that she would leave no matter what, she felt her fiesty nature return, breaking through her drowsiness.
"And what exactly will you do if I refuse to leave, Zane?" She put emphasis on his name, pronouncing each consonent and vowel dramatically. "No matter how soft your words are, your heart is hard." She gave him a cold stare.

Zaniell winced as she insulted him. His heart was not hard... He did his job out of love for his family. Does that make his heart hard? It was her own father who had the hard heart. Sacrificing his only child for favor of the 'gods'. There was no god, nonetheless multiples of them. If the King hadn't taken his children's children, things would not be going this way.
"I'd prefer not to drag you to our destination, Princess," Zane said calmly, like he usually did. Though, inside he wanted to shut the Princess up with a cloth over her mouth. "But if you make me resort to such measures, I will." A pause. "You have 8 minutes left."

Zera pursed her lips together. He scared her. Though she wouldn't let that show this time. She had bravado, and she wasn't afraid to show that, though. With a defensive stance, standing to her full height, and placing her hands on her hips, she spoke up.
"I have as many minutes as I wish to have." She then added the last part. "And you will drag me nowhere, sir." She then remembered the muscular arms, the nearly effortless act of him carrying her everywhere, and the way that the dagger had glinted from the fire's light.
What had she just gotten herself into.

Zaniell's eyes flickered to Zera's pursed lips. Those lips, how unfair of her to use them against him. He had the sudden urge to kiss them. Hah. He would probably get his face raked off by her perfect nails if he even tried that. Besides, she was a Princess. He wasn't even good enough to be called a peasant.
"I will not carry you, Princess, if you are ready within the time limit I give you." Zaniell shrugged. She would be going either way, it was her choice if she wished to be carried or not. With that, Zane walked into the kitchen, where an open pack was, and started wrapping food in it. He picked up several loaves of bread, dried, salted meats and fruits. Sure, the majority of the food was perishable, but it would have to do for the time being.

Zera narrowed her eyes as he moved away. And she decided to push her luck. Perhaps he was all bark an no bite. She still thought it was strange how his eyes were purple. She had been staring at them, though she hoped Zaniell hadn't noticed. It was an unusual color, and yet they were so entrancing.
She shook the thoughts off and sat back down in her chair, wrapping the blanket around herself again. She was not moving. And if he thought he would simply carry her again like he did before without a fight, he had another thing coming. This time she would likely try and burst his eardrums.
She watched him gather food. She thought it was interesting as to how they had only been here for a few hours, and they were already leaving. If her whole kidnapped journey would be like this, she would be giving her captor hell before they got to the final destination.

Zaniell glanced up only to see the Princess watching him. And she was sitting down again. He sighed. Why did she insist on being so difficult? He was just glad he didn't have to tell he she was being led to sacrifice like a cow led to slaughter. At least the cow didn't have the mind to think anything of it. He could only wish that Zera was just as compliant.
"You have 3 minutes, my Princess!" Zaniell called from the kitchen. He paused. Had he just called her 'his' princess. No. He couldn't have. He had to focus on packing anyways, the princess could not, would not, linger in his mind. Zane had just finishing up packing her food. He would not pack her clothing as well. She could handle her own panties, thank you very much.
Zane lifted the heavy bag easily in one hand and walked out of the cottage, not giving Zera even a glance. He whistled shrilly, calling to Bear, who trotted lazily out of the stables. His saddle was already set up on his back. "Good, Bear," Zaniell cooed to the horse as he perched the bag on the back of the saddle. "Let's just hope the Princess is as good with you as I am."

Zera figured that if he were to actually carry her out and force her to go along, she would need some sort of clothes. Her gown was thin and she had noticed how cold it got at night the other night. She waited until Zane had left and then she retreated to the room that Zane had said she could sleep in.
She remembered him mentioning clothes being in here, and, sure enough, she spotted the change of clothes lying on the bed. She looked around the room and grabbed a medium-sized knapsack before shoving the folded clothes into it.
Returning to her chair, she sat in the same position, clenching the blanket around herself. It then hit her. He had put an extra word before princess.
"He did not call me his princess." She tried to convince herself, her jaw clenched.

Zaniell returned to the cottage only to see that the Princess had not moved since he left. He almost thought of forcing her to eat some certain herbs that would make her sleep. Much like a coma. Then he would have some silence... Oh sweet silence, he never thought he'd wish for it a day in his life.
"Princess, I know you are disgusted by my touch. So, please, don't make me carry you." Zaniell said through clenched teeth. He was sure that would get her attention. He turned his eyes away from the girl on the couch and grabbed his cloak from the table. He tied it on, pulling the hood over his face once more. He knew she didn't like it, another plus of having it on.

Zera raised her brow at his words, but she soon looked away from him and said, "You're right. I'm absolutely disgusted by your touch, but I'm even more disgusted by the fact that you believe that I'll willingly travel with you, my kidnapper." She narrowed her eyes.
She clenched her fists in the blanket when Zaniell put the cloak over his head. "That cloak does you no good." She bit her tongue, trying to restrain herself from saying more.

Zaniell all but growled underneath his hood at her words. Why did she have such a sharp tongue? It wasn't as if he himself was kidnapping her for his own cause. It would be a death sentence for anyone to kidnap a Princess who wasn't hired by her father himself. Still, he couldn't complain. He had done it.
"My cloak obviously works, for you couldn't see any features of mine with it on." Zane said bitterly through clenched teeth. "And if you went willingly, it would be no wonder why your father did this." Zane smirked at his comment. Curiosity killed the cat... In this case, curiosity led the Princess to the kidnapper. The vampire then turned on his heel without another word and walked to the horse, leaving the door open behind him.
