"Is unnecessary." Shade repeated. The van pulled up to a stop and Shade sat silently for a second, psychically communicating with the driver. The van doors opened and two young men in casual clothing picked up Ebony and started to carry her down the alleyway they were parked in. On one side of the alleyway was a large stone building that appeared to be some sort of old warehouse, while on the other side was a towering new-looking sky scraper. Shade stepped out quickly and silently and a third man shut the van's doors again, not even paying heed to Kzingyll.

The men carrying Ebony stopped by the skyscraper. One of the men typed in a fifty-digit code and the door opened. They maneuvered themselves so Ebony would fit through the door and entered. The third man followed closely behind.Shade tapped the back of the van and it shot off. He followed behind the other men. Once he had entered the building the door shut itself, instantly sealing itself with a complex locking mechanism and a subtle warding charm.

Shade had simultaneously knelt down, pinning Kzingyll's leg beneath his right knee and his throat beneath his right arm. He pointed the now deployed blades on his left arm at the precise location of where Kzingyll's wind pipe would be.
