"Come on Sword Master, just tell her." Bow Wielder demanded. Sword Master sighed. "Well, One of the highest people in the organisation that just kidnapped Ebony is called Black Sword. She was made immortal along with us at the end of the second War of the God-Likes. Over hundreds of years the Daemonium Venatores-her organisation-expanded enormously, becoming involved in everything and with everyone-although they didn't know it-in order to continue to protect the world from the Foul's Demons. As a result, Black Sword often came into contact with me and Bow Wielder, either to help us or so we could help them. We became very...close...over the centuries. Once, in Britain during the time of Queen Mary, I saved Black Sword's life from a monstrous Demon Knight named Tek'tul the Forger, although she was badly injured. She believed she was going to die and so admitted to me that she had feelings for me, and we kissed. For better or for worse, she survived and we decided that no good would come of us being together, so we went our separate ways once more." Sword Master said. "Well, except you sort of kissed again..." Bow Wielder added. Sword Master glared at him.

Rhi put a fist under her chin and thought for a bit. "That's nothing much, considering Ebony was gone for centuries. She shouldn't bother you about it if you hug her enough. Black Sword on the other hand.... Either she'll get hurt, or Ebony will lose a life or two. Or both."

"Well it wasn't exactly a quiet few hundred years. If I wasn't exploring all the wonders of the world I was fighting with one or more of said wonders. Plus there is the constant evolution and change of power across the world to get used to. It only really felt like a couple of centuries-although I see what you mean." Sword Master laughed.

Plus someone already told Ebony something had happened between me and Black Sword." Sword Master glared at Bow Wielder. "Two somethings actually-and the one you carefully chose not to mention was actually a bigger something." Bow Wielder replied, smirking.

Sword Master turned right at the T-intersection. "Not necessary." He jumped over the river of sewage and grabbed onto a ladder on the wall. He climbed up and moved the manhole slightly. Bullets ripped through the strong metal manhole and Sword Master dived off the ladder and to the side. "Bellators! Shade clearly doesn't want us to get Ebony back!" Sword Master called. Bow Wielder shot two arrows into the ground. They extended upwards and then bullet-proof plastic planks extended from both arrows, interlocking to provide a low bullet-proof shield. He ducked behind it.

The shots stopped coming. Sword Master stood up wearily. He moved cautiously away from the ladder. He jumped back over the river and approached the others. "There are probably men guarding every manhole in a square kilometer, they are trying to keep us isolated until they do whatever they need Ebony for." "What if we tried to use one on a popular street?" Bow Wielder suggested. "No, they will be wearing disguises and everyone nearby will be staring at the crumbled building." Sword Master pointed back in the direction they had come. "What about the catacombs? The sewers link up to them in several places, we could use those to sneak outside their perimeter." "True, but bare in mind that that is where the other group is, and one at a time is plenty." "Well, what choice do we have?" Bow Wielder finished, disassembling his shield and putting the arrows in his quiver.
