Oakfeather snorted, shouldering him. "You calling me old?"

Snakepaw dug his claws into the dirt, gritting his teeth angrily. "I want nothing to do with him," he snarled.

~

Limefeather rolled her eyes. "Sure; when you came back wounded from the battle that killed my old mate. I could have let you bleed out. But I was nice and saved you." She grinned.

~

Sablepaw twitched her whiskers, trying to locate the exact spot the mouse was at. When she thought she had it, she lunged, her teeth connecting to something furry. She bit down, hard, until she realized it was only Feralwind's tail.

Cougarfeather shook her head, "not until I know for sure." she said, flicking her tail tip.

Windpaw laughed and flicked Oakfeather's ear with his tail, "duh." he teased.

Dreamsplash shrugged, "there isnt much you can do about it, he will force you into being his slave. He can kill you in your dreams you know." she said.

Adderstrike laughed, "oh gee, thanks." he snorted, "Now I guess I owe you oh so much." he said sarcastically.

Feralwind jumped straight up in the air with a yowl of pain, he landed on top of an old hay bale, swishing his tail, "well, you caught my tail." he said with a laugh, "better than nothing! I didn't see that coming." he sat down and wrapped his injured tail around his paws.

Sablepaw sat up, confused for a moment. "There's too many scents in here," she mumbled, burning under her fur. "It's messing me up; I can't tell what direction I'm heading in."

Limefeather only rolled her eyes and batted on of his ears playfully.

~

Ice climbed down Snakepaw's spine. "But he can't kill me in real life," he muttered. "I just won't sleep."

~

Wolfstar gave her a cold look. "I take offence."

~

Oakfeather headbutted him. "I may be old, but I bet I could still take you down."  

Windpaw puffed up his fur, "I doubt that!" he purred.

Cougarfeatehr shrugged, "that doesnt bother me." she said.

___

Dreamsplash laughed, "you underestimate Tigerstar. And how long do you expect to last without sleep?" she asked.

___

Feralwind laughed, "its okay, there are a lot of scents in here." he said, "but you have to sort through them to find the ones you want.

___

Adderstrike twitched his ears, "so, if you are so god at hunting, I want some proof." he said.

Sablepaw only frowned at him. "Fine. I'll try again."

Limefeather nodded, twitching her ears as she picked up the scent of a crow nearby. 

~

Snakepaw shrugged, lifting his head to look at her again. "Not long, I suppose. But long enough."

~

Wolfstar snorted. "How about I guess, and you tell me when I'm right?"

~

Oakfeather batted him with a paw, catching him over the back of the head with a hard blow. He chuckled. "I'm bigger, smarter, stronger, and probably fatter than you." 

Feralwind jumped higer up onto another bale, "and I will stay out of reach." he teased.

Adderstrike tilted his head, a crow? it would be almost as big as she was. BUt he decided to sit and watch.

____

Dreamsplash shrugged, "if you can wait, so can Tigerstar. You're better off just doing what he says, at least until you are strong enough to defeat him, I suggest you let Adderstrike train you very well, so make nice wiht him and listen well, and i suggest you hurry with your training. YOu are going to need it." she wispered, her voice fast, "I don't want to do what he says either, but he takes over my soul, and controls me. I'm his puppet, so he wont kill me, but you are a pawn, if not you, he will target another young apprentice." she said

Cougarfeather, "or you can guess and I wont answer, but sure, go ahead and guess."

Windpaw faced his mentor, "Im faster, and more agile. And you are not stronger, nor that much bigger." he pointed out, He was only a little smaller than his mentor, and probably matched him for strength. He surged forward, slamming into his mentor and knocking him off balance, then he leapt back nimbly so he was out of reach.

Oakfeather narrowed his eyes at him. "But I am fatter and I can suffocate you in your sleep," he pointed out with a stiffled yawn.

Wolfstar thought for a moment, and then said slowly, "Oakfeather?"

~

Snakepaw hissed, baring his teeth at her. "He'd better stay away from Wishpaw." He sat up straight, still a little disappointed he was smaller than Dreamsplash. "And there's one thing you don't understand, Dreamsplash." He stood up, preparing himself to leave. "I'd rather die than be a slave for him my entire life."

Limefeather circled the base of the tree in complete silence, drawing herself forwards slowly. When she was about a foot away from it, concealed in the shadows, she lunged. It cawed, wings snapping from it's sides in an attempt to fly away, but her claws snagged it before it could get anywhere.

She dragged it down to her level, snapping its neck with a quick bite. She dragged it over to Adderstrike, looking pleased with herself. 

Windpaw alguehd, "nope, your too loud when you walk, "I'd hear you coming!" he teased.

Cougarfeatehr shrugged, thankful for her thick fur, as it hid her blush, "maybe. I guess you will never know." she teased.

___

Dreamsplash shook her head, "I'm pretty sure that can be arranged." she muttered, looking at the ground.

___

Adderstrike laughed, "nice catch." he purred, "But let's see if you can catch faster prey, like a spaarow." he whispered, stalking away into the underbrush, careful not to allert the birds that were chattering there and eating the berries. His dark fur hid him well in the shadows. He crouched down low to the ground after spotting his target, a full grown finch that was facing the other direction and eating berries. THey loud chattering hurt Adderstrikes ears, and he pouced, large paws forcing the bird to the ground. He silenced it with a swift bite to the neck before it could make much noice. He picked it up and padded over to Limefeather, setting down the sparrow.

"Not as big." he said with a shrug, "and harder to catch, but they taste the best out of all prey in my opinion." he said.

Feralwind purred loudly, "congratulations." he called from his perch above her head, "I'm sure Cougarfeatehr will be pleased." He jumped down and landed beside her almost silently, "she trained you well." he said.

Wolfstar frowned. "Speaking of Oakfeather...isn't he injured? I just saw him leave the camp with his apprentice."

Sablepaw jumped again, but looked at him evenly. "She didn't teach me this; you did. All she taught me was how to fight. She didn't know how to teach me to hunt."

~

Limefeather shrugged, pawing at her crow. "Crows have some good meat on them; it's soft, and easy to chew up for sick kits who can't feed from their mothers." She twitched, suddenly trying to banish medicine cat thoughts from her mind. "You know what? Let's keep going." She quickly buried her kill, then stalked through the undergrowth without another word.

Snakepaw looked back at her, still a little confused about his mixed feels for her and Wishpaw. "Dreamsplash," he said in a quiet, subtle voice. "What do you think of my mother?"

~

Oakfeather cuffed him over the head again. "Respect your elders, boy! Remember; I can make you stay an apprentice." he chuckled. 

Coufarfeather shook her head, "probably." she rolled her eyes, "when will he learn to just listen!" she muttered.

___

Feralwind tilted his head, "really? You've been an apprentice so long, I as.sumed you knew how to hunt." he thought for a minute, well your welcome." he purred.

___

Adderstrike nedded then buried his sparrow, he had to run to catch up with Limefeather, "whats the big hurry? You can slow down and actually walk you know." he asked.

___

Dreamsplash twitched her ears, "Limefeather was a great emntor, and I dislike what I did to her. But it was never really me. It was Tigerstar." She thought for a moment, "now let me ask you a question, would you rather know, or spend your entire life without a clue?" she asked.

___

Windpaw widened his eyes, "you wouldnt!" he complained, then he thought for another moment, "if you did, you would be stuck with me even longer." he said with a sly grin.

"Naw," Oakfeather teased. "I'd just shove you off on some one else."

Snakepaw thought for a moment, and said slowly with caution, "Depends on who's telling me, how, and when." He added on, "How I found out? No. I would have rather stayed clueless and think that my parents were rogues." He paused, again, and tacked on. "But if you had told me in private? Well, I think I would have been okay with that."

~

Limefeather snorted, shouldering him. "I want to go down to the stream. In this weather, there's bound to be a couples voles wandering around."

~

"Thanks," Sablepaw said cheerfully. "Let's go back to camp; I want to show everyone this mouse!"

~

Wolfstar chuckled, "Why don't you go find him?"  

Windpaw rolled hi eyes, "you'd miss me." he said.

___

Dreamsplash nodded, "I met your father once. Back when I was a kit. But he died in battle. I saw how devestated some of the cats where when they returned home wihthout some of their freinds, mates, and family. It was that day that I vowed to be a Medicine Cat. On that day that I decided to try my best to save my clan. But now they all hate me." she hung her head low.

Adderstrike smiled, already scheming in him mind, "sure. sounds like a plan to me."

___

Feralwind purred, "sure. Lets go." he said padding out of the barn and into the open. He blinked in the bright sunshine and sneezed once.

Cougarfeatehr shrugged, "Hes probably busy training with Windpaw, he isnt going to listen if anyone tells him to come back." she pointed out.

"That was an order," Wolfstar said, giving her a stern look. "I want you to fetch him back; the last thing we need him to do is get more injured."

Oakfeather headbutted him again gently. "Probably." He meowed. "And I'm probably going to miss training with you when you become a warrior."

~

Snakepaw rubbed his head against her flank gently. "I don't hate you," he mewed quietly.

Limefeather nodded, smirking, and flicked her tail as she concentrated more on the scents and sounds around her.

Sablepaw scooped up her mouse, tail flicking in the air like a flag. She puffed out her chest and walked beside him into the sunlight.

Cougarfeatehr shook her head, "alright . I'll go see if I can find him." she said, padding out of camp and folling Oakfeatehr and Windpaw's scents.

Windpaw smiled, "thanks. Wow. I can't believe I'm going to be a warrior soon. I'm getting old too!" he complained.

Feralwind saw Cougarfeather and purred, "Look, Sablepaw caught a mouse." he said.

Adderstriek dropped into a hunters crouch and pounced at Limefeather, sending them both toppling into the shallow, warm water. It soaked his thick fur and made it feel heavy.

___

Dreamsplash smiled for an instant, "thanks." she said, "that makes one cat."

Limefeather was thrown onto her back, Adderstrike standing over her. She was speachless, struck silent by the moment. Water soaked through her fur, but she didn't even seem to noticed. She was too mesmerized staring at him.

Sablepaw nodded, setting it down. "I did! Look how big it is!"

~

Snakepaw purred, warmth spreading through him. He didn't move at all. "do you hate me?" he asked.

~

wolfstar nodded, watching her leave.

~

Oakfeather snorted, rolling his eyes. "Not yet, you aren't." He glanced sideways at his apprentice with a smile. "I can remember when you were the size of my paw." He sighed. "I was a young warrior then; just got my ceremony about a moon before." 

For a second, Adderstrike was staring into Limefeather's bright geen eyes, "you know, I've never seen a cat with eyes quite like yours." he said.

___

Cougarfeatehr purred, "Great job Sablepaw! I'm proud of you!" she said, the happiness apparent in her voice.

Feralwind shrugged, "I took her to the abandoned twolefg barn, but dont worry, I checked it first to make sure it was safe." he said. Cougarfeatehr nodded.

Dreamsplash shook her head, "no. Why would I?" she asked.

___

Windpaw laughed, "Oh come on! I wasnt that small!" he complained. He thought for a moment. WHen he was a kit, he was very small. Smaller than his sister, in fact, Wishpaw had dwarfed him. But then, once he was about halfway through his training, he had had a growth spurt, and now he made Wishpaw look like a tiny little kit.
