"Well what do you think happened?" Liam wanted to tell her. That it was real, but then he would seem like the crazy one, claiming he was a werewolf. But then again, this girl had seen that side of him, so she already knew the truth. He kinda wished he was crazy, that he didn't shift into a vicious monster that could shred a mans shoulder with one bite. Especially when that 'man' was a vampire, whose skin was supposedly impenetrable. He wished it was all one bad dream. But it wasn't. In a sense, he was living his own nightmare.

''I...'' Annabeth hesitated for a moment. What would he think? That she was crazy? Send her to a loony bin? Whatever he did, for some reason, she felt compelled to tell him. She actually wanted to. ''I don't think this happened, but... it's what I remember...'' She said, speaking doftly. ''I was walking home, and three men appeared... After them, a huge wolf, and two of the men in front of me just appeared next to the wolf, and they started fighting... The last man appeared right next to me in the bl
ink of an eye, he made my shoulder bleed just by squeezing it, and he... bit me...'' She stopped, head down, looking at the floor. Her hair had fallen in front of her face, hiding her eyes.

"Sounds like vampires and werewolves." Liam said with one eyebrow arched, "do you believe in things like that?" he crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back on his heels slightly, "because you wouldn't be the only one around this town who does. I hear a lot of people believe in myths."

''N-no! Of course not...'' Annabeth replied quickly, brushing her hair out of her face and looking back at him. ''Why? Do you?'' She asked, unsure of how she would reply if he said yes. Sure, everyone was entitled to their own opinions, but still... She'd been raised with vampires, werewolves and other myths being just that- myths. Make-believe. Fantasy. She wouldn't know what to think of someone who believed in them.

''I was just going home, actually.'' Annabeth replied, smiling. ''I was out drawing. What about you? Didn't they want to keep you in for questioning?'' She asked laughingly. She was captivated by his eyes, and she had to stop herself from staring. She shook herself mentally. What was wrong with her? Couldn't she even have a simple converation with an- admittedly cute- guy she'd just met?

Liam shrugged, "What can I say? I can't be contained." he said with a smirk, "want me to give you a ride home?" he offered, gesturing to his truck. He wouldn't be shocked if she said no, seen as how they had only technically met the night before, but he liked to think he had a trustworthy vibe.

''Sure.'' Annabeth thought- even as she said it- about how her mother was going to flip out once she found out she'd accepted a lift from a total stranger. She'd warned her before she'd even left the house to stay in view of other people and to speak to no strangers, at which point Annabeth had left the house with a yell, saying how she wasn't a child any more.
Still, she grinned quite happily to Liam.

"alright then, lets take off before my boss finds any last minute things for me to do." Liam said with a quick laugh, heading back toward the truck and walking around to the passenger side to get the door for Annabeth. Who said chivalry is dead? He thought to himself. He pulled open the door and smiled at her warmly.

Annabeth smiled and got into the passenger side, smiling warmly at him. ''Thanks. And thanks for the lift.'' She said, her eyes sparkling with happiness. She wasn't sure what, but there was just something about Liam that made her feel good.

Liam winked at her before closing the door and walking around to the driver side. He jumped in the truck and turned the key in the ignition. The engine roared to life and he moved the monster of a vehicle onto the road before lighting a cigarette and rolling down his window, "so, where do you live?" he asked, taking a long drag. The only thing he likes about smoking was the lightheaded buzz it gave him. It relaxed his mind and made him feel calm.

Annabeth blushed as Liam winked at her; what did that mean? She shook herself out of her thoughts quickly enough to just barely hear his question. ''Drowler's Lane.'' She said simply, looking dubiously at the cigarette. ''And you do know those things'll turn your lungs into shrivelled black messes and kill you, right?'' She shook her head and sighed. ''Why on earth do people put poison into their bodies willingly?''

((Last post of tonight, going to a Halloween dance at my school. yeah, its past Halloween, but still!!!!! Ill be home midnightish)) Liam shrugged, "gotta die someday." he said, which was a lie. Werewolves didn't die, "So the way I figure, as long as these make me happy, screw it." he glanced over at her, "and don't think just 'cuz you're a pretty little girl that you're going to change my mind. My own mother couldn't" Of course, I haven't seen my mother in about seven years. But he left that part out. |

Just because you're gonna die someday, that doesn't mean you can just throw you're life away. And you know why it makes you happy? That's the neurotoxins taking over your brain, forcing it to produce dopamine, the 'happy' chemical. The more your brain is forced into making that, the more it needs to be forced. Why people get addicted.'' She glared at the offending item, a scowl etched into the face of such a 'pretty little girl'.

Liam chuckled softly, "What makes you say that? Because I'm pretty sure I live safely enough to last a few more years." He turned onto Drowler's Lane and figured she would point out which house, "Besides, everything I do, is because I choose to do so. I live my life the way I want to, and not how others believe I should. Can the same be said for you?"

Annabeth opened her mouth, about to retort about how yes, she did actually. With a cold jolt of realisation, though, she realised it was the exact opposite. Her parents tried to govern her whole life; Sure, it meant she got good grades, didn't smoke or do drugs, and was healthy, but it also meant she couldn't remember the last time she'd done something just because she wanted to, and not for someone else. She shut her mouth tightly and paused for a moment, thinking. ''No, I don't. I live my life like I'm told, and that's always worked fine for me. I'm fine with waiting until I move out to live the way I want.'' She pointed to a large, crisp yellow house and mumbled, ''Just there, thanks.''

"Then you're missing out on the thrill of life." Liam said, pulling up to the curb, "If you ever get tired of being told how to live, it shouldn't be too hard to find me." he said with a small smile, "Now take care not to walk alone at night." He said, half-teasing, half-serious. He hadn't been able to track down the vampires, and they could be anywhere. And he wouldn't put it past them to come after Annabeth again.

Annabeth gave a small sound that went something like 'tch', opening the door and getting out. Before she closed it again, she leaned into the car. ''Haha, very funny. I'll remember that.'' She gave a small chuckle and shook her head, closing the door and running up to her house. Turning around to give a small wave, she opened it and wandered inside, making a bee-line for her room. Her mother somehow managed to catch her before she got there, though. ''Annabeth, where the hell have you been? How exactly did you get back so quickly?'' She asked, narrowing her eyes. Annabeth figured she'd probably been watching from her window.
''I got a lift off a friend.'' She replied cooly.
''I wasn't aware any of your friends drove trucks like that.''
''They don't. He's a new friend.'' Annabeth hadn't meant to mention that it was a guy, and cursed mentally.
''He? Annabeth, if I hear of you making any more new male friends, I'll ground you for a week. Clear?'' Annabeth gave the barest nod of her head before stomping past her mother, and into her room. She'd make friends with whoever she wanted to, thank-you-very-much.
