Alexandria rolled over onto her side and lazily lifts a heavy eyelid. Peeking at the clock on her bedside table, she yawns, shaking the sleep away.
"5:30," she murmurs, "probably the only one awake."
Cautiously, Alexandria lowers a pale, slender foot onto the cool floor of her cabin before crossing over to her bureau on the other side of the room. After a bit of digging, she pulls out a lacy pink camisole and a pair of black, fuzzy sweats. Satisfied, she quickly changes and heads for the door. Tugging a pullover sweater and a key off the hook by the door, she steps out into the breezey, early morning weather. As she clomps down the creaky, wooden steps, Alexandria pulls on the sweater and rakes a hand through her chocolate brown hair. As she steps off the end of the wooden stairs, she feels the soft, lush grass beneath her toes. Smiling, she turns her head toward the horizon and watches the sun slowly crawl to it's perch high above the camp. Then, as she felt the soft breeze caress her face, Alexandria allows for her eyelids to flutter closed, treasuring these few, precious moments alone, without any strict rules weighing her down. By seven, she would have to run in and get her shoes before dashing across camp, toward the dining hall. Arriving late to any meal posed serious punishments at camp Forcen; punishments Alexandria would rather go on without. Honestly, she wouldn't be surprised if there were more rules here than campers. Life at camp Forcen was strict, but well, when dealing with the campers here, these rules are just about the only thing that was keeping potential chaos at bay.
As her thoughts wandered, Alexandria ventures farther away from her cabin. As she nears river Forcen, the river cutting through the middle of the camp, she stops by the bank, and lowers herself to the plush carpet of grass hugging the curves of the river. Lying down on her back, Alexandria stares up at the pink-orange sky and listens to the water as it rushes past.
"You know," she whispers to the sleepy camp, "I should do this everyday."
