While girls sighed after them like doves after eagles the boys let out a mutual sigh of their own. James sighed out of frustration, wondering how a girl could possibly resist him. Pale blue eyes flashed with anger as he left Mo in his stall, sulking all the way to his next cl*censored*. On the other hand, Scott simply sighed, perhaps out of resignation, perhaps not. He couldn't force a girl to have feelings for him, or even expect it. Certainly he was the charmer.

Etiquette cl*censored* was next, one that few looked forward to. If it weren't for the fact that today was dancing. Of course, if one is going to be in the presence of royalty, one must learn to dance. So while others dragged their feet, Scott and James stood ready to hear who they would start out with. This time James prevailed, as the teacher pointed him in the direction of Akila. With a smug smirk that transformed into a genteel smile he approached her, bowing.

"I am sorry to bore you, my dear, but it appears we are being forced to dance. Perhaps I could make this as painless for you as possible." He flashed her his dazzling smile that would charm the crown off the queen, filling his ex
pression with hope and humor. Nearby Scott went silently to his partner, bowing before offering her a gloved hand. They moved across the dancefloor like professionals, thanks mostly due to Scott's leading. The girl, one of the school's few nobles, with wavy chestnut hair and shining amber eyes, seemed too awestruck to possibly be responsible for their fluid movements.

James held out his hand expectantly, lifting an eyebrow. "Well?"

He smiled, pulling her to himand placing a hand at her hip. "If you are unfamiliar with this dance style, then I suppose I should lead." He smiled down at her, being quite a bit taller. The music started, bringing a smile to his lips and a soft, dreamy sigh. "Ah, Chopin's Minute Waltz. A beautiful song for a beautiful dance." With natural grace he led them across the dance hall, spinning her occasionally only to wheel her back in.

"I wanted to tell you back at the stables, but you look magnificent when you ride. Truly stunning." He moved her along with him, keeping step with the music.

ooc:// Please, no Mary Sues. I will stop here and now if this Akira is a Mary Sue. I'd rather die than allow James and Scott to fall for a girl like that. They'd rather fall in love with each other.

At the song's end all boys gave their partners a final bow. James managed to keep the smile on his lips, though his eyes tightened slightly at the corner. Still, his voice came steady. "A dance is always easy for one who has such a lovely partner." He huffed out the door, doing his best to keep up appearances.

Scott didn't bother to notice, leaning forward to whisper into his partner's ear. She blushed, giggling inanely. After giving her a nod and half bow he gave Akira a look over his shoulder, sighing in that unreadable way of his before exiting the room in a much calmer fashion than the one who had gone before him.

Stopping, Scott turned. He gave a curt nod, his ex
pression keeping blank. "Hello, Miss Akira. You looked ravishing on the floor."
