The screeching sound of wheels aroused the girl from her sleep. Her blonde hair fell into her face, causing her to automatically put it back into place with a swipe of her hand. "Ginn," she said looking at her owl, "we're here." She looked out of the train window into the fog. The large school was barely visible through the thick, white mist. She poked her friend and smiled. "We're here, Dessen."

Dessen opened his eyes and groaned. "Just please, let me sleep." He had stayed up late the night before watching his favorite tv show, Scare Tactics.

"No, wake up sleepy head." Sara put her hands on her hips and frowned. "We're at Brackenthorn Academy. If you don't get up, I'll drag you there." She was being dead serious about dragging him there.

"Fine, I'll get up." The two of them grabbed their luggage and walked towards the exit door of the train. The people in the cart next to them did the same and got out of their cart.

As Dessen exited the room they had ridden in, so did Haru and Fawn. Dessen let out a glare and then looked at the hand that was clenching his shoulder. "Countrol yourself, cuz," Sara said squeezing his shoulder.

"Ugh, I'm not going to have a nice, quiet year here, I can tell." Dessen looked at Sara and then walked to the entrance door behind Fawn and Haru, Sara trailing behind them.

They got on a carriage together and rode up the rather long road to the school. They stopped at the large entrance doors and opened them. They entered cautiously, not knowing what was waiting for them inside. They already had their robes on, so they went to the dining hall.

"You know, it's not nice to stare, Dessen." Haru could feel Dessen's eyes burning a hole in the back of his head.

"I know it's not." Dessen smirked, his cold, quick temper shining through.

"Calm down, Dessen," Sara said grabbing his shoulder again.

Dessen let out a sigh that sounded a bit like a growl. They split up and went to their tables, the only two of them that went to the same table were Sara and Haru. Sara sat with a large group of girls, wanting to socialize with her own gender instead of being Dessen's babysitter. She looked at Dessen from across the room and mouthed, 'Control yourself, please.'

Maya looked up from her conversation with Silvie and Drewn when she saw a few more people sat in the Wyvernjaw table. "Haru! Sara!" She greeted them cheerily with a shower of playful sparks from her wand. "Guess what? I'm going to get a kitty! Drewn and Silvie are coming with me to one of those Muggle shops on Saturday. You two wanna come? You can drag Dessen along too, I don't mind." Maya grinned happily.

Tori perked up when someone else sat on their table, but she sank back down when she realized it was Dessen. "Oh, it's just you." She muttered irritably. Eos, ignoring the newcomer, curled around Tori, purring happily.

"Hey, Fawn came too!" Akira said cheerfully when the girl sat on his table. "Now Bowen won't be so unhappy." He grinned when a few more first-years gazed at his Elf owl adoringly. Bowen ignored them, turning his back on the younger kids and making small, irritated hooting sounds. 

Silvie didnt greet the newcomers but stayed silent...  a quick shot of black fur erupted from under the table as Moug decided he was out of the conversation, and therefore wanted to be included as he sat in between Drewn and Silvie, his front paws on the table as his neck was outstretched so the other wyvernjaws could see his dark green eyes watching them all.  Silvie stroked the cat behind his ears and pushed downward, making sure the animal's paws werent positioned onto the table.

"God, Silvie.  Perk up.  It's the first year at Brackenthorn and you're already scaring everyone...usually thats not until day 2." he taunted with a teasing smile.  He instantly regretted his words when his friend delivered a painful punch to his upper arm.  He held back a shriek of alarm and rubbed his new injury, glaring at the girl.  He glanced down at the cat, whom he wasnt fond of, and he could of sworn he saw the slightest smirk cross the black demon's face before it returned its gaze to the rest of the table.  He resisted the urge to push the cat off the stool with his wand but instead greeted his housemates, "Hey Haru, Sara.  Great to see you guys back." he smiled at them.

Sara nodded and smiled. "I'll come, I don't know about Dessen. I'll have to punish him for making trouble on the first day before he can come," she said giggling. Haru remained silent. He looked around at everyone, letting out a shy smile and a wave.

Dessen looked at Tori. "Watch it." His quick temper wasn't going to help him at all.

Fawn looked at Akira and smiled. "Long time, no see." She patted her cat, Cleo as she meowed, wanting attention. Fawn looked up at the ceiling, feeling a bit uncomfortable in an area with so many people.

Silvie held her expressionless gaze.  An eyebrow raised at the newcomers, as her cold hearted emerald eyes watched the others.  Suddenly a pastrry flew from the left of the table and hit the girl in the side of the head... she let out what sounded like a menacing growl and held her wand concealed in her robes.  She stood up from the table "Excuse me." she stated bitterly, turning abruptly and strolling over to a group of first years positioned at the end of the table...

Drewn smiled and held out his now bruised arm to be healed.  He glanced at Silvie... debating whether to go get her or not.  He decided to hold back and let her temper do the talking.

Rio looked up from his table, noticing the unpleasant aura emanating from Dessen. "I'll... go off for a little while." He said, noticing also the uneasy little atmosphere forming between Tori and Dessen. He got up, seeing Silvie heading to a group of frightened-looking first-years. Sighing, and wanting a peaceful day, he hurried over to intercept the girl. "Whoah, are you going to attack those poor little kids there, Silvie?" He asked, smirking.

Maya grinned and tapped on Drewn's arm with her oak wand. The wand sparkled Maya's signature light lavender color, as she watched the ugly purple on Drewn's bruise fade away. "There." She said, patting his arm. "All better."

Akira grinned, relaxing. It wasn't nice to be surrounded by girls, but it sure beat being surrounded by gawking first and second years. They could be very over-excited at times. Bowen hopped around on Akira's shoulder, finally perching on his head. "So, where did you go this summer, Fawn?" He asked, reaching on top of his head to pat Bowen. 

Silvie gave a taunting smile, "Perhaps.  I suggest you get out of my way before you join them, my dear boy." she said returning the smirk and raising a wicked eyebrow, crossing her arms as she did so.  She motioned for him to reposition himself before a real battle took place... she was in no mood to deal with her clas.smates at the moment.  Moug remained in his place at the table, watching his master as she began to leave.  He let out a low growl but remained stiff.

Drewn smiled, "I dont know where I would be without you Maya." he joked playfully, still rubbing his newly healed arm.  His owl has now fallen asleep in its plumage once more at the top of the window.

"Probably in a lot of pain, dear Drewn." She replied, grinning as she tapped the wand on her hand, sending lavender sparks cascading down the tip. "So, Rio looks like he's taking care of Silvie." She nodded towards their direction. "I wonder when the teachers will begin the feast. Can't wait to get back up to the dormitories."

Rio sighed. "Nope." He replied, hand closing around his wand slowly. "Come on, Silvie. I'll settle them with you, then. You can't always solve problems by giving them that look and cursing them." He grinned. 

Drewn rolled his eyes, "Most likely... with that demon we call a friend over there." he cocked his head towards Silvie, and grinned slyly, knowing he was about to get entertainment from a few first years.

Silvie snickered humorlessly. "I want to teach them a lesson they wont forget.  Feel free to tag along and take notes." she smiled playfully.

Rio pondered on Silvie's invitation. "...Nah, no thanks." He said, waving the thought away. "Come on, Silvie, let's go back. I'll go talk to them, alright? They think I'm pretty." He winked, grinning cheerfully. When he checked over his shoulder on the first years, a few had their eyes on him, curious, but most of them seemed to still be staring at Silvie in fear. One of the girls noticed Rio look over. "Umm... we're sorry." She mumbled, voice weak. Rio turned back to Silvie. "See? All better. Come on, I bet Maya wants to rant about her love of dragons again." He grinned.

Maya laughed. "Rio's taking care of her now. He doesn't seem as badly beaten up as you." She tapped his shoulder with her oak wand, then watched Silvie's ex
pression, ready to get up if the girl showed any sign of wanting to put a hex on the poor first years. 

Silvie narrowed her eyes, "I dont need someone to fix my problems for me, my dear." she snickered in a much happier tone, as she taunted the wyvernjaw with a fun voice.  She looked over the first years in disgust and pushed past Rio and stalked over, "Hello children." she stated, a menacing smile on her face as she took a seat in between two young boys.  She watched some of their faces go pale in terror as her eyes scanned the faces...  before she could speak a little girl perked up..."It wasnt our fault!  Tyler and Jared wanted your attention because they thought you were lovely!" she screeched in a terrifyed tone as she spotted Silvie's wand concealed in her sleeve... before she slammed her head on the table, seeming to hide from the threat.  A boy across from her face turned a bright pink as did one of those beside her.  One of the boys pointed to Rio..."But Mary, Grace and Mackenzie thought he was adorable!" he tattled. She pulled her wand from her sleeve..."If you wanted my attention, throwing a pastry was not the anwser." she cooed, as she wove her wand, the girl's braids being tied to the hair of a girl next to her.  The three boys that sat with them recieved a face full of pie.  and The girl with her face down recieved no punishment... "And we're not going to tell the professors...are we?" she growled.  Each of them nodded frantically as Silvie stood... "Good." she returned to Rio... "You see... wasn't that bad." she flipped her hair and returned to her seat besides Drewn.

Drewn rolled his eyes and watched Silvie and the first years..."NOt as bad as I thought."

"That was bad." Rio said, though he was grinning. He walked over to the first-years. "Sorry. Shouldn't have done that, not so pretty now, is she?" He laughed as he tapped his wand on each of their heads, the pie on their faces disappearing. The three girls looked up at Rio hopefully. "You three are too young for that kind of lovey-dovey stuff." He said, then looked down when he felt a nudge at his feet. Nya had somehow crawled from the Cloudrain table to the Wyvernjaws, as she leapt up into Rio's arms. "Alright, I'm sorry I left you there." He said, patting her head. He walked back to where the other Wyvernjaws were. "Silvie, if you keep up this behavior, you're gonna get expelled. And the Wyvernjaws wouldn't be happy if the teachers took points from your house." He smirked.

Maya observed the two. "Y'know, I think that I should get a Burmese." She mumbled to herself absent-mindedly. "Well, Drewn, looks like the worst of it is over." She always did enjoy watching Silvie trash the younger kids, like a very, very entertaining live show. 

Silvie smirked, "Yeah.  But they wouldnt tell.  And as much as ol' dumbledore threatens, he never would expel me... I'm a favorite" she sneered, fingering her wand with a wicked smile.  She looked back down the table and rose an eyebrow to the first years, the boys looked up and smiled stupidly.  Silvie snickered, "To young for my kind of fun." she snickered, taking Moug into her arms.

Drewn laughed, "Silvie...I sware... one day karma will get you."
