((Who is Hawkheart, because I posted the apprentices post ion the first page...))

Duskpaw leapt into the air with raised paws and hooked her claws on a black bird. Her blind eyes widened and she forced the squaking bird to the ground. It clawed her front leg, but it was dead before it could do more. She stepped back in surprise. She had caught her first bird, entirely by accident?

Rainflower purred her thanks to Adderstrike, watching Dreampaw, who was still sitting down, curiously gaze at the two warriors. "Your apprentice is very obedient, Adderstrike." Rainflower observed, hoping that Duskpaw and Dreampaw could be good friends. She saw her apprentice bring down a blackbird in the midair. "That was an excellent catch, Duskpaw!" Rainflower said sincerely.

Dreampaw followed the three cats, looking around the forest. Her keen eyes, which were for some reason sharper then a normal cat's, caught a ragged ginger pelt. A pair of yellow eyes gleamed in the dark, as a rat-like snout pointed towards them, the jaws parting and tongue lolling out in a grotesque way. "Fox." Dreampaw said in an unusually loud voice. "Oooh, I'm so scared." Dreampaw narrowed her eyes and taunted the fox, which made it burst through the bushes. She saw Rainflower whip around and immediately raise her hackles at the creature.

Bluepaw padded into the woods, keeping her eyes open and her nose ready in case she startled some prey. Finally, she reached the river bank. She crouched to the sandy ground when an idea came to her. What if I hunt from the water? she though enthusiastically. My legs are long enough.  Set on her new hunting method, Bluepaw padded into the slow river and sank down until only her ears and eyes showed, claws holding her in place.

Bluepaw spied a water vole snuffling for seeds on the bank, and readied herself to leap at it when she felt a rush of air over her head. She looked up and saw a small falcon flying away, wheeling around for another pas.s. She growled and this time tried to sit on her haunches, the water keeping her balanced. 

The falcon came back, and just when it swooped above her ears, Bluepaw burst from the water, claws unsheathed. By sheer luck and a bit of skill, her claws caught the falcon in the breast, dragging it down. 

Moments later, Bluepaw was dragging the falcon behind her back to her mentor, a proud look shining in her eyes.

Sunflare looked down at the falcon. "Well, what did you know. Not an eagle, but nearly as large." Sunflare purred. He turned his head around when he heard a howl emenate through the forest. As-suming that an unlucky apprentice trod on a thorn, Sunflare turned to find a mouse and a rabbit lying at his feet, the eyes of Coalpaw staring up at him. "Yes, that's good as well." Sunflare chuckled. The two seemed extremely competitive today.

Rainflower turned back when she heard Duskpaw howl. This was practically her first day as an apprentice, so this would also mean her first battle. Rainflower narrowed her eyes at the fox, whose attention was focused on Dreampaw. Before she had a chance to leap at the fox, it had sprang on Dreampaw.

Dreampaw merely ducked her head to avoid the fox, which sailed right over her. She quickly turned around and bit onto the fox's back, hard. The creature yowled in pain, attempting to shake off Dreampaw, but her claws and teeth were deep into the mangy fox.

Adderstrike lunged at the fox, long claws slashing into its muzzle. It got up and bit into his shoulder. Adderstrike hissed angily, but the fox had pinned him to the ground and was currently ignoring Dreampaw and Duskpaw. One of the Fox's paws was pressing down on his chest and he found breathing hard..

Suddenly, a blur of cream and ginger fur slammed into the fox, rolling it onto its side. Wind hissed angrily at it, blue eyes blazing and ears pinned back. The fox snarled and shook its fur. It faced Wind and barred its teeth before pouncing at him. Wind nimbly dodged to the sode and the fox crashed to the ground, and Wind bit down hard on its ear. After yelping loudly, the fox ripped free, leaving behind a piece of its ear. Its began to whine low in its throat as it looked at all the cats. The fox began to slowly back away as Adderstrike rose to his feet.
