Javon laughed as his daughter pulled at his ear. She was 10 months, almost an adult, but still she acted like a puppy. He found it cute and amusing. At least, she had grown out of her wandering off stage. He laughed again as she tugged again at his ear. He suddenly heard commotion outside the den. As Alpha he knew it was his business to make sure everyone was fine. He pawwed Jessa off him. "You stay here. Got it, Jessa?" 

Jessa looked at her dad. "But I want to go see what's going on too." Jessa sat down when she got her father's glare. "ok, Dad. I will stay."

Javon left the den and stood, watching Chardonnay and Shadow deal with a loner. He was prepared to jump in if necessary, but so far, the two wolves had it under control. Then, Rain yelped. Javon swept into Rain's den just behind Shadow and stood in  the den opening, keeping an eye on Rain and the loner. When the loner ran off, Javon turned his attention to Rain. "Are you ok?"

Mei strolled back to the dens. She had been out hunting, but could only find a few hares. She carried those in her mouth now. She would wait a bit longer to go try and find deer. As she got close to the den area, she heard a familiar yelp. "Rain!" She sprinted to the dens, dropping the hares before rushing to the enterance of Rain's den. "What's going on?" She asked, breathless.

Mei let out a small gasp. "They are so cute." She had never seen newborns before. She had seen pups, but never so soon after birth. She looked at Rain as if asking permission to come closer to see them.

Javon sat down. He gave that mighty look of pride he always gave, but this time it had a bit of endearment in it. He then turned and left the den to get Jessa. She would be angry with him if he didn't let her share in the moment with them all.

When he reached the den, Jessa was lying on the ground staring at the opening in resentment. When she saw her father, she bounced to her feet. "What happened? Was their a trespasser? Did you get them? Was the fight awesome? Why did Rain yelp? Is everyone ok? Who is hurt?" She shot at him.

Javon luaghed at her frantic questions. "Everything is fine. Thye loner is gone. No one is hurt. As for Rain, come see."

Jessa jumped at the chance to see. She sped out the den and over to Rain's. "Rain?" she called.

Chardonnay watches Shadow leave and turns her head, but Ivy was missing.

Rain looked up at and beckoned for Jessa to come closer. She licked each pup's head gently and curled her tail around them. Then she lowered her head to her paws, exhausted, and closed her eyes.

Mei nodded at Shadow. She took one last look at the tiny pups, then strolled out of the den. She sat outside. She looked around. She could smell the faint smell of a strange wolf. One had to have been here. Or one was close by.

Javon smiled at his daughter as she watched the pups. When Shadow said it was time to leave, Javon agreed. "Come on Jessa," he murmered. Then he turned to exit. Jessa followed behind him. She wasn't happy to leave the pups, but she knew Shadow was probably right. Rain did seem tired.

Jessa smiled at the other wolf. She was nice. Jessa liked nice wolves. Jessa padded over to her den. She stood outside the opening, waiting for her dad, but he had stopped to talk to Mei.

Javon looked at Mei. "What's wrong?"

"I smell a stranger."

"A loner was here earlier. I wouldn't worry too much. But if the scent gets stronger let me know."

Mei looked at the alpha. "I will. Don't worry."

Javon then trodded over to his daughter. Jessa pounced on her dad and wrestled him to the ground. They both went down laughing.
