Ryland was listening pretty intently to her talk about her cripplingly anxious pokemon. He hadn't heard another human voice in ages. He'd been lost in a forest without another human soul for miles. It had only been a few days, granted, but a few days were a very long time when you spent them climbing through dense undergrowth.
"Wow, does he ever battle? Maybe gaining some battle experience could make him a little less skittish," he suggested, trying to be helpful. He was still only walking towards the pokemon, hoping that the umbreon wouldn't run off so far if he didn't actually chase him.
Jin watched the umbreon scamper away with that ominous look that came so naturally to dark-type pokemon. If anything, he was making Nite's problem worse.

Lyric shook her head. "No, unless having playfights with my other Pokemon counts," she sighed. "He used to enjoy battling, but now, the closest he has come to fighting other Pokemon was last month, when a few pidgies were attempting to socialize with him. I don't know what to do." Nite was already running, and Day was scampering after him, catching up quickly, trying to get him to stop. ((I think I worded that in a weird way. Dx))

"Well, what changed?" Ryland asked, moderately curious. He noticed the pokemon were getting away from them rather quickly, and reluctantly pushed his pace up to a trot. He'd just wanted to get to the city, he hadn't been in this for a run! He felt like he was going to collapse and die any second now. And what a relief that would be. Not having to trek through this stupid forest anymore.. He could just lie on the ground and be unconscious. It sounded splendid.
Jin rather disliked the uneven movements, so he dug his claws into Ryland's shoulder a little more sharply. He was sort of a total jerk.
