Applications are now closed! Welcome to the Hunger Games, everybody. As Maggie has said, we need to lay down the rules for posting. If you have any questions, Rmail either her or myself.
RULES FOR POSTING: Since we have a large number of rpers, there are a lot of problems that could be caused by posting: namely, multiple responses to one post.
To fix this situation, you need to RESERVE your post before posting it.
Example:
RPER 1: (RP post) RPER 2: Reserved.
-- Rper two will write their post accordingly to RPer 1. As a game maker, I'm generally excluded from this, seeing as I rarely directly interact with a player. If this happens:
RPER 1: (Post) RPER 2: Reserved RPER 3: Reserved -- Rper two responds to 1, and then RPer 3 responds to 2.
KEEP IN MIND: You will most likely not consistently reply to a certain person. This system is in place for the moments when you DO need to interact with someone: If you aren't, you still need to do it.
With this being said: May the odds be ever in your favor.

(( Kk, got it. Also, Dance, can you add Kyle onto District three? He is my character, and I don't want him dieing in the bloodbath))
Kyle looked around. He was walking around town, whistling a happy tune to try to keep himself upbeat. It wasn't working very well. His legs were shaking, and one of his eyes would occasionally nervously twitch. The Reapings were today, and he wasn't looking forward them. His name wasn't in there very much at all, maybe five times, but he was still nervous, as one would expect. He paced around, just waiting for the call for them to come to the reaping.
And there it was. He heard the call, faint from the long distance. It called all of the boys and girls to come and get lined up for the Reaping. He strolled over, not getting any furious glances from the Peacekeepers because he was late. His parents were high up in the legal system, and they weren't about to risk getting fired. He lined up with the sixteen year olds, his hands in his pockets. His nervous streak was gone now, and he just waited for his day to be able to go on. It wasn't like his name was in there a million times, it was very illogical for him to have to go. He grabbed his gold chain necklace and twirled it in his fingers. Okay, so maybe he was a little bit nervous.
"Welcome one and all to the seventy sixth annual Hunger Games! As always, I will pick ladies first!" The speaker announced with way to much enthusiasm. They always were very happy to announce tributes. Kyle never really understood why, sending kids into a bloodbath didn't seem like something to get excited about.
"And the lady is... Grace Kalihan. Come on up! Do we have any volunteers for this young lady?"
The poor girl got a large hug from the announcer, and was almost swallowed in the man's fat. The man's long blue hair enveloped the poor girl as well. She looked practically suffocated and horribly dreadful when she heard that no one was going to volunteer for her.
"Moving on then! The man who will be representing your wonderful district is... Kyle Parker!"
Kyle's practically jumped onto the person behind him, and heard shrieks from his family and friends. He heard cries of "No way!" and "This can't be!" He started the long walk to the platform, and when he turned around, he saw the faces of his terrified family, which would continue to haunt him. How could he, of all people, be chosen? What madness was this? How could this have happened?
"There's our boy. Now, any volunteers?"
Silence. No one would volunteer, and a few people made awkward cricket noises. If they were poor, they would want to see him go. It was always the poor people going to battle, and having the richest kid around go was like candy on Christmas day. There could be nothing better for them.
"Okay, thank you all for coming out, and may the odds be ever in your favor!"
Kyle walked off the platform with this strange man. He saw his mother's face hidden in his father's shoulder, and he saw his father unable to hold back tears. He saw his little brother and sister weeping and screaming, all to get him back, but worst of all, he saw his girlfriend being restrained by Peacekeepers, trying to volunteer herself for his spot. Tears welled up in his eyes as he took one last glimpse of his life, and they disappeared with resolve as he looked forward, determined to have a future.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leanna sat on the low dock, her small feet kicking in the water. She was extremely nervous, for today was the day of the Reaping. She had been forced to take a few tesseraes for each of her younger sibling so that they could survive. Her only consolation was that if she did get chosen, there had been many times in the past when district four had had numerous volunteers, especially if the tribute was weak and frail, like she was. She knew her likeliness of surviving the games was not great, and her only real hope if she did get picked was the fact she would not be seen as a great threat, and the fact that she was smarter than more than four fifths of the population. She could outwit almost anyone, but as any survivor of the game would tell you, intellect wasn't everything. Her mind raced at the thought of her second Reaping. Nothing was for sure in the games, and she knew that. She had analyzed every detail of the games in order to improve her chances. She would be ready, she just knew it.
Finally she heard the call that summoned her to her fate. She walked with scores of people, trying her best not to be noticed. She passed by her littlest brother Joshua holding hands with her oldest brother Jacob. She looked the four and eleven year old children in the eyes.
If I am chosen, Jacob, you are in charge. Get your brothers out of here and don't worry about me. I promise I will do all I can to make it home safe and sound to you. Don't take a tesserae ever if I get taken. Stay strong for me Jacob. I love you both.
She bent down and kissed both of them, and left them with tears in her eyes. She heard the faint call, "We love you to Leanna." Her tears welled up in her eyes. She knew Jacob would have a hard time caring for three other children, but he was mature and responsible. He had been forced into adulthood at age eleven; he could take care of them if she was gone. She looked back, but her brothers had disappeared. Hopefully she wouldn't get chosen, but it could never hurt to see them one last time, to hold onto them for another second. They were practically her children, seeing as how her parents had left right after Joshua had been born. She had to stay strong for them, and she couldn't be chosen. She couldn't do that to them.
She lined up with the rest of the thirteen year old children. They were all laughing and playing. They had most likely not had to take a tesserae, and were therefore practically sure not to get chosen. She saw a few hollow, sullen faces in the crowd. Maybe there was hope for her after all.
A lady with bright purple hair and a gaudy outfit made of feathers took center stage. Her words were thickly accented, and spread across the crowd slowly, like they were trapped in a thick cloud and could hardly get free. "Welcome everyone, to the 76th annual Reaping of District 4! I am your host, Jenna Alborn! Now, to start us off, the ladies!"
She walked over to the glass ball, and picked a name out of it. With a flourish, she opened it and read: "Leanna Jackson, center stage!"
Leanna's world crashed around her. The tears that had been building in her eyes welled even more, but she had to keep them in. Tears went weakness, and weakness meant no sponsors. A large moan came from the crowd when they realized she was thirteen. She hoped her age would spur on a volunteer.
"Any volunteers? No? Good."
Leanna caught sight of her four brothers when they heard that she had no volunteers, and her eyes locked with Jacob's. She nodded, and he nodded back, keeping his tears well hidden from all eyes but the ones of his faithful sister/mother. he knew what he had to do, and, for her, she knew he would do it. She gave a rea.ssuring nod to her other three brothers, Jacob and the twins. Even at such a young age, they grasped the severity of the situation. They cried and clung onto Jacob, weeping for the loss of their only motherly figure in their life. She had always warned them not to hope to much for her to come back if she was chosen. She supposed the words she had spoken now had a true meaning.
The rest of the Reaping went by in a blur. A boy was chosen. They shook hands, and she was swept off. The last thing she remembered fully was looking into Jacob's eyes as they swept her away, and seeing the words "I promise" come off of his lips. She sighed contently, knowing that even though she might never come back, her brothers would be cared for.
((Okay, now I'm done))
