(( Fail post is fail. xP They've spent their whole lives pretty much inside the lab, so they're a bit messed up. ))
Where Loki didn't hurt, he itched. Trying to scratch made it even worse, so he simply lay sprawled on the floor of the cage, snout buried in his tail because he didn't have enough room to stretch out fully.
That wasn't really true, though. He could stretch out, except Poke was on the other isde of the cage, and it was vital that he ignored him. Loki's talons scraped against the metal floor of the cage as his stomach rumbled for the umpteenth time. Loki could snarl and snap at Poke all he wanted, but the stupid creature never seemed to care. Come to think of it, Poke didn't really care when he ignored him, but he didn't want to look at anything that looked full and content. Especially when it was his food that he was being full and content on.
Loki lay silent, hating the Poke, hating the experiments, and, suddenly and for no reason at all, hating all the ghosts he failed to see. He'd heard, somewhere, that Ninetales could see spirits, and ever since he'd try to extend whatever little sixth sense he had, but, alas, to no avail. Any psychics in the area, however, would have heard something like this;
Hello? I'm hungry. Hey? Ghosts? Anyone? You don't have to be dead, you know. Listen! LISTEN! WHY AREN'T YOU LISTENING? LISTEN please please I'm so bored and Poke ate my food.
Poke had spent the last week alone in the cage, which was normal as they often dragged Loki out for testing. He'd always return twice as irritable and with some sort of interesting symptoms, but even though Poke got more food and less not-quite affectionate nips to the ear, it was always colder inside the cage without Loki. He generated a lot of heat, being a fire type, and it was nice to curl up against him after he had fallen asleep.
Faithful to his growlithe roots, he spent most of his time sniffing. The air, the cage, and even the scientists themselves were chock-full of interesting smells. The cage right now smelled mostly of food and Loki's fur, which the bird legged hybrid kept scratching off, but a few corners still smelled a bit like cat and a bit like electricity, all while smelling like human. An odd smell still lingered from a few days ago. It had first smelled smoky and female, and indeed, a few cages down, there had been a blue-marked pokemon. They'd taken here away, and ever since the air had been full of the smell of fire and electricity as well.
Poke yawned and glanced at Loki, noting with disappointment that he hadn't fallen asleep yet. Resigned, he settled down in his corner of the cage and within a few minutes was fast asleep.
