Cody wandered along the trees next to the edge of his village. He knew he wasn't supposed to be here, that his dad had told him that tigers and demons live in this forest. But today his dad told him that his was getting a new mom soon and he didn't want a new mom. So he wasn't going to listen to what dad said anymore. He didn't want a new mom and knew that you only get new things when the old ones broke and his mommy didn't break. She was just very tired. Thats what his dad told him. His mom fell asleep a long time ago and never woke up again. He leaned on one of the trees, hanging off of it slightly, singing one of the songs that the children in the village often sang together. He looked into the forest, it didn't look that evil.

Mordekai wandered towards the edge of his home, his paws carrying him soundlessly through the trees. His ears perked when he heard singing, the curious child moving towards it until he sat before the source, ears forward as he shifted to his human form, innocent purple eyes curious. "Whatcha doin'?" he purred curiously, tilting his head slightly. He thought he'd heard that song from the forest before.

Cody jumped slightly, not expecting anyone to find him this quickly. He turned to look at Mordekai, relieved that it wasn't a grown up that had found him. "Hiding." He answered with a smile and then slowly got back down on the ground so he didn't fall. He turned to leaned against the tree, hands behind his back. "What're you doing in the forest?" Cody asked then finally noticed he had ears. He was quiet for a moment, his heart speeding up a little. "Are you a demon? Like my daddy talks about?" He asked. His was a big boy now and he shouldn't be afraid. So he wasn't... maybe a little but not a lot. [[lol fail xD]]

Mordekai blinked, cocking his head to the other side. "Do demons have a mommy and daddy? Oh! I'm Mordekai, by the way," he purred happily before he stood up, ears twitchih as he moved over. "And what're ya hidin' from?" he asked, tail waving back and forth.

"I'm Cody, and I'm hiding from my daddy." He replied, "And he says that tigers and demons live in the forest and that I shouldn't go in." He replied, clearing unafraid of Mordekai, he was just a little kid like him. Not a demon.

Mordekai tilted his head. "What's a demon...? And my daddy and everyone except my mommy are tigers, but Daddy says I'm more cat because my gramma was a cat," he said, stretching out his arms with a soft mewl. Then he looked up at the other male, ears twitching. "How old are you? I'm six. My name's Mordekai, by the way," he said happily, tail waving happily back and forth.

"I'm nine." Cody replied, "Demons are mean things." He replied simply, he didn't really know what a demon was except that they were supposed to be mean and do mean things. But Mordekai couldn't be a demon because he seemed nice. "Do you live in the forest?" Cody asked curiously, blue eyes shining.

Mordekai nodded. "My mommy and daddy say it's safe here and that the village wouldn't like us. Daddy says they thought he and mommy were demons, even though they never did anything. Daddy especially, even after he saved kids from a fire," he said before shifting back to his feline form, padding up to Cody to sniff him. He didn't /smell/ evil...
And so, he nuzzled the human's leg, lletting out a soft purr. He pricked his ears up, watching for the other's reaction.

"If your daddy saved kids then he can't be a demon. Because demons are mean things." Cody explained, "And they do mean things." He added, saving kids from fires wasn't what demons did. When he shifted Cody sat down, eyes wide and clearly excited. "How'd you do that?!" He exclaimed, reached forward automatically to pet between his ears.
