Jake turned around. "Oh yeah...I guess I'll move that later." He murmured, not really bothered by the fact he just parked in the middle of the park.

"I guess it is time for them to hatch. They'll get away from the snow just in time." The wind blew again, sending another eerie chill along Jake's spine. But this wasn't a regular chill. It felt like someone was watching him...

Jake's eyes drifted to the side. Parents were glaring at him. Of course, he had parked his car in a children's play area. That's why he had felt eyes on his back. Smirking slightly at his stupidity, he looked back up at the girl in the tree. "What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?" Jake's bangs fluttered around his eyes.

Heels clicked on the concrete, eyes turned. With a slight smirk and a twist of the hand, all heads suddenly turned back to their own buisness in the park, watching children, reading the newspaper, and such.

"I don't know how humans can be so stupid." Roulette muttered to herself, smirk still across her lips. A couple hours earlier, she had heard that Melissa's friend had died, she had come to pay her respects.

But the Resistance had learned that Kasper had sent his minions to her home in attempt to capture her and her newly Changed son. It was now her duty, as Second-In-Command to see that he was safe, as Jake, being Melissa's son, could be one of the more powerful Knights.

Roulette had seen Jake once, when she was told to watch over him and his "grand-father." Of course, that man had not been his grandfather, just a good friend of Melissa's. And Jake was only seven then, he hadn't seen her.

But soon Jake's black hair and lean, tall figure came into sight. Another flick of her wrist, and Roulette was visible again, but out of Jake's sights. He was with someone else, and if she was a human, Roulette couldn't go out. Humans, being the stupid creatures they were, would probably go and babble about everything they saw, and would expose Roulette.

"I'm Jake, and isn't everyone?" Jake smiled slightly. The girl was acting kind of shy around him, but he didn't take much notice. He had never been very good at reading body language. She probably still thought he was a predator.

"Well, thanks for everything. I'd better get going..." Jake turned toward his car, but suddenly stopped. The feeling that eyes were on him came again, but this time, much stronger. He turned toward the direction it was coming from. A tall, thin woman was leaning against a tree, staring right at him with golden eyes. She blinked once, then stepped forward.

"I am Roulette. What a pleasure to meet you Jake." The woman, Roulette, didn't offer her hand for a shake, or and explaination to how she knew his name. The wind blew again.

Roulette tensed. She could smell a Mal from here. Any trained member of the Resistance could. And it was near by.

"Jake, get in the car with your friend." The words were strained, her eyes darted about, looking for dark skin and white feathers.
