Halien Bartender
Running into some girl in his haste, and causing the cute little kitten to fly off and land somewhat securely back into the Tavern, Halien was in quite a bit of pain. But still, nothing would deter him from picking up a hot chick, even if she was kinda weird looking..
Completely losing track of what he was supposed to do, he quickly ran back inside to the now merry band of cats and people. Hearts in his eyes, Halien knelt at her feet adoringly, and uttered one of the failproof lines in his arsenal. It was completely romantic, and guaranteed to tug on any girl's heartrings.
Pausing dramatically, Halien, grinned adoringly, and said,
"Hey there, babe. Is your old man a baker? Because you sure do have some nice buns."

Stiffening, Halien straightend and slowly spun around, becoming the stoic, impa.ssive man he was. Eyeing the figure warily, he gave a curt nod.
"Kiba."
Looking down upon the girl, what was her name again? Halien shrugged, and gave her a wink, falling easily back into his playboy persona.
"I usually don't dig shifters, but you're pretty cute. Too young though. Call me when you turn the legal age, I can brew a pretty strong Phoenix Wing. Guaranteed to make you tipsy after the first sip."
Striding over and vaulting over the bar table, Halien tied the apron around his waist, smirked, and winked.
"Now, what would you pretty ladies like to drink?"

Halien Bartender
Wiggling his eyebrows, Halien leaned forward and nipped Akio's ear.
"That's fantastic to hear sugar. Why don't you sit back, relax, and let me make you a drink you won't forget."
He breathed, and just as quickly pulled back, turning to go find the ingredients needed.
"Blasted vodka, where is it.... Ah, here it is! Now, wonder what's the chance the bloody man keeps Lotophagi lotus leaves here.... Argh, what the! Ouch! Ah, okay. There it is. What stupid fool labeled them white rose petals? Idiots."
After several minutes of banging, crashes, and a multitude of "ow!"s, Halien popped back up and faced the pretty red head.
"One Double M, coming right up."

Damon The Owner ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
Damon watched as the patrons began to file in. He assumed this would happen though, it always did. Generally a good host, he tended to mingle with the patrons and chit-chat here and there. To each of his patrons he flashed a dazzling white (although a bit dangerous looking) smile. It seemed to him there were more animals today than people...but as long as they didn't mess on the floor or scare other people away, he had no quarrel. It might be interesting to see how they handled their alcohol, as well. Chuckling to himself at the thought, the ancient man wandered over to the bar. He was noiseless, and stepped just on the verge of the new tender's peripheral vision. Once around, he snuck to stand just behind the man, listening to his flirtatiousness. An eyebrow arched, at at the comments "blood fool" and "idiots," his lips pulled into a bit of a frown.
"Do remember that this is the man who you expect to be paying you," he said in a somewhat unfriendly voice. "And although it isn't quite pleasant, I can show you what a BLOODY fool I can be." In saying this, he had leaned down so his lips very lightly brushed the man's neck, and he would be able to feel a very fine tip of his fangs. It was a moment of intensity, and whispered in a way no one around would be able to hear it.
"Well good, I hope we understand each other!" He said this aloud, cheerfully, straightening up. Turning his head, he saw his waitress Lotus come bursting in.
"It's all right, Lotus," he sighed softly, shrugging. "I've accepted that you will always be five to fifteen minutes late. I might as well just change your time of arrival a little later."

Halien Bartender
Lip curling, Halien faced Damon, his magic causing the air to crackle with electricity and tension.
"You know boss... You should be careful about being so close to me. People might talk. And when peole talk, birds listen. Vultures might come in, and ruin everything."
In acknowledgement of Damon's words however, he turned around and started inventorying the stock.
"You know where they sell crushed unicorn horn, Undine tears, and genie smoke, among other things?"

|| Salem ||
A thief in the height of her career. A rising assassin, and a female infected with vampirism, the woman moved easily through crowds. Permanently frozen at age nineteen, she was as beautiful as a flower. With long, shiny, ebony hair that traveled down to her waist, porcelain skin, and silver eyes that shone like currency in most lights, she seemed to attract lots of attention from the opposite gender, and some from the same gender, though it normally wasn't the good kind of attention.
She looked fragile moving through the crowds. Standing at a slightly-taller-than-average 5'6", she had long, slender legs, and a slim build. Though, she carried curves. Though, the only use for her appearance was to lure others into the trap- make them willing to let her feed on them. She was wearing dark attire, as her job normally required, having to lurk in the shadows and all. A dark cloak shadowed her figure, and the hood of the cloak shadowed her face, making only her light eyes able to fully be distinguished. The only light thing she was wearing was a silver wedding ring with a simple, shining diamond em[injection]bedded in the middle of it. She wore it not on her left hand, but on her right, seeing as how her betrothed had died long ago. Before she was a vampire.
Technically, being only ten years with carrying the virus in her body, she was a relatively young vampire, and was hard to control when affected with strong emotions like anger, love, and such. Though, seeing as how she'd recently fed on a young man, she wouldn't have issues with her hunger for the next few hours. Due to still being young, it took more blood to keep her going than most experienced vampires.
She veered into the tavern after what seemed like days of walking, and walked up to the area that seemed like the bar. There were lots of things going on here. People conversing, others of the paranormal species moving around. With her heightened senses, she could pick out three werecreatures and a man who she guessed was a mage. She had an eye for picking out paranormals.
She saw the bartender mixing up a cocktail of sorts, and frowned. She wasn't one for mixed drinks. Whiskey was what she took. Simple. Easy. Effective. She had enough money in her pockets for as many drinks it would take to knock her out. She hadn't slept in ages, and if it took getting dead drunk to get a wink of sleep, she would do just that. Hunters had been watching her, stalking her for three years now. She got careless one time, and got caught stealing from a man high-up in society. One mistake that almost got her killed. Luckily, the men after her didn't know she was a vampire yet. And they weren't too good at tracking, either.
As the bartender began to speak in a low tone to a man across the tavern, she turned to look at him. Pale skin. Dark hair. Top hat. And a strong presence. No doubt about it. He was a vampire. And it seemed he wasn't too keen on keeping that fact a secret. Salem was one to hide what she was. It made it easier for others to trust her. Of course, if they asked, she might tell them the truth about what she was. She turned around quickly, less the other vampire find out that she was just like him. Of course, he probably already knew. If he had half of a sense for detecting others like himself.
"Could I get a drink, sir?" She asked the bartender. He was tall, handsome, and seemed to be a bit of a playboy by the way she had heard him speaking to the redhead earlier. Her voice was like liquid velvet, and would send some of the best men to their knees. Still, she had been born with a voice like that. A voice made for singing. Speaking of singing, she hadn't done that either in ages. She wondered if she could still carry a tune like she used to. Her light silver eyes peeked out from under the darkness of her cloak, her dark pink lips curling up into a smile.

Lotus
"Why do I still work here?" Lotus muttered under her breath as she disappeared to the back. Seems like Damon had hired a new bartender. Good. She was tired of being both a waitress and a 'tender, and while Damon went around smiling at every fricken creature that walked through the door, she was the one doing all the work. Snorting in contempt, Lotus piled up a few clean plates she pulled from the dishwasher and started setting up tables.
"Damon hon, I'd probably just show up late from the new time you set," she pointed out and swatted a strand of stray hair out of her eyes. She glanced over at the new bartender and the shifters (weres maybe?) that were seated at the bar. Scowling, she strutted her way over behind the bar and pulled out her notepad, a pen clicking in her other hand.
"Welcome to the Tavern," she said without much enthusiasm and looked at the weres. "Now what can I get ya to eat this evening? If any of you will be needing dog bowls, we don't have any," she said and tilted her head as she smiled.

HalienBartender
"Terribly sorry for the wait miss. What can I get you?"
Halien asked curtly, stepping up and bowing shortly, barely disguising his annoyance. But the shock of a familiar face rattled him to the core. He had seem the woman's face before, from his former employer, 10 years ago. That was when he had escaped. But why was she hunted back then? Why did he still remember her face? There was a niggling in the back of mind, something he had heard before about this woman. Something about a tragic accident. Whatever. Moving smoothly, mechanically, Halien looked like he'd been hired 5 years ago, not a couple minutes ago. Pulling out a glass, he asked,
"On the rocks?"

The full realization of who this man was hit Salem full-on. She nearly didn't recognize what he had said. He seemed lightly surprised by her. Perhaps it was her beauty? Maybe he could see her face better than she thought under the darkness of her cloak. But no. She knew what it was.
This man. She'd heard about him before. Where, she wasn't sure. She'd seen his face. Long ago. Ten years ago, perhaps? She'd lost count of the years. They all flew by so fast when you had no use for them. No reason to keep track of them. She hadn't celebrated her birthday in six years, at least.
As he asked her if she'd like a drink on the rocks, she was shaken from her thoughts, and gave the man a slight smile. "Yes, sir," she said, readjusting the hood of her cloak, hoping that it would hide her face better.
"Do you have any rooms for rent here? I believe I may need to buy one for the night." She tucked several strands of her hair behind her ear under her cloak. "It's been a long time that I've traveled here, and I'm feeling a bit tired." Lie. That was a lie. She wasn't really tired at all. She never got tired. Never had to sleep. That was why she hadn't slept in so long. Still, she wanted to have a room to go to and pass out in.
No matter how strong of a vampire she was, stumbling through the streets late at night, drunk as a skunk, wasn't safe for a woman or a man.

Shrugging the thoughts from his mind, he quietly took out a bottle of whiskey. At this rate, he'll need to go replenish the ingredients the next day. They were running dangerously low on limes and rum.
"A margarita for you miss? Or would you rather something stronger, something magic?"
Halien grimaced, no use letting the woman know he had recognized her. His magic was useful in identifying magical species, which helped in creating new drinks, but it was also essentially in identyfing walking, talking people too. No doubt this was a vampire. But no need to advertise the fact either.
Noting the woman said something about rooms, he jerked his thumb towards Damon. "You'll have to ask Damon about that. I make drinks, maybe provide a bit of security, that's it."

The vampire bit her lip, though, since her fangs were contracted, and she wasn't hungry, her pointed canines weren't overly-visible. Her eyes were focused on this man. She was suspicious of him now. She hadn't ran into anyone from her past. That's why she had moved around so much- to avoid the people who knew who she once was.
She used to be a woman high up in society, with men doting on her left and right, and when one finally gathered up enough courage to ask for her hand, she accepted, though she was young, and wasn't really sure if the bubbly feelings in her stomach was just happiness from being asked, or real attraction. Sure, when her betrothed had died, she'd cried for months, as would anyone. He was an influential man- a man who would have taken very good care of Salem.
Tapping her fingernails on the counter, she replied to the bartender. "I'll take the strongest drink you have. So long as it doesn't taste like sewage," she said, letting out a light laugh. Perhaps she could get some information from him if she played her cards right. But not now. She wasn't in the mood to seduce, or manipulate.
As the bartender gestured to the vampire she'd seen earlier, she visibly tensed. She wasn't one to be comfortable among her own kind, much to the contrary saying that similar people gathered in groups. She would stay solitary for the rest of her immortal life if need be, until she was finally killed by some daring hunger with enough common sense and cunning to actually kill her.
She wouldn't want to die any other way, really. Dying in her sleep sounded too peaceful. Too.... boring. Dying from sickness seemed like it would cause her too much suffering, and being murdered would leave mystery in her wake. She'd much prefer the death of being killed by a successful hunter.
"I guess I'll talk to him later," she said in reply to Halien's suggestion of speaking to the other vampire.

She was startled at all the sudden events happening infront of her, several people walking in, werewolves, even other felines like herself. She decided to stick with the sabertooth for protection, and be on alert for anything Lotus said about Damon, Halien, or anyone else. There was something that she couldnt understand about lotus, but she just shrugged. She curled up and took a little nap on the saber's back.

Halien Bartender ~
Eyebrows raising at the gutsy declaration (and the possibly flirty laugh?), Halien shrugged and reached behind him for a small vial of questionable origin. Pulling out a bottle of cognac, he poured it into a glass and dropped in a few Megaera balls, waiting until they dissolved completely. A cube of sugar, and a tad of ice cold water was also added. Three large drops of absinthe from the vial later, and a pinch of something else, the now fiery looking concoction was pushed over towards the vampire.
"Drink up. Enjoy a Hell Raiser. You look like you want to forget."
He hesitated, and then passed her another vial.
"You're probably going to need this Hangover potion too."
((Megaera is one of the Greek Furies. She's called the Grudge Bearer. Since hangovers are awful, I thought it was suitable.))

The cloaked girl watched with curiosity as the bartender mixed up a drink. Seeing as how she hadn't had a drink in a year or so, and how her body had an uncanny high tolerance for alcohol, she hoped that this would do good. She looked at the fiery concoction warily. What had she gotten herself into?
She bit her lower lip and listened as Halien spoke to her. As he handed her a vial, she tucked it away in a pocket on her pants, making sure that it wouldn't get squished and leak out.
She grabbed the glass, looking at it for a moment. He spoke of forgetting, and her face visibly drooped. She looked down at the hand that was holding the glass firmly. Her lips lost their smile, flipping into a frown. Forgetting sounded nice. Going back in time sounded even better.
She tapped her fingernails on the glass, looking back up at Halien with a fake smile on her face. "I've tried forgetting. You can't forget some things.... But this ought to get me some good sleep, at least." She raised the glass in his direction in a sort of toast before pressing the rim to her lips and taking a sip.
It tasted as fiery as it looked. Deciding it was best to down it quickly, she tipped her head back, taking the glass with it, and gulped down the drink quickly. Due to the angle of her head, the hood dropped down to her back, revealing her haunting features and long, curly black hair.
She didn't bother with it. Why do so? It wasn't like anyone here had the ability to kill her. She was fast, strong, and an experienced fighter. Though, she would have to take mind not to let her sticky fingers get the best of her. Drunk hands weren't quick, slick hands.
She set the glass back on the counter, shuddered, and shook her head slightly. She could feel the buzzing in her head begin, but it would take a while for the full effect of the drink to set in, seeing as how it had to be absorbed through the wall of her stomach first. She licked her lips, her throat still burning.
"Damn, that was a mean drink," she rubbed her neck slightly, pulling her hand away when the burning began to subside.
