"My mother, Sayna, me Sagepelt and my other sister Amber, were all out in a corn field full of mice not to far from our cave. We were eating well when mother freaked out and sent all of us into a near by bush. All of the sudden a group of rouges appeared from the other side of the field. The said mother was stealing their prey. They all attacked her together. We watched them killing her, then Amber jumped into the fight. She had no chance, she was so small. I tried to go save her but Sage stopped me. She saved my life. After the rouges left we walked up to what was left of our mother and sister. And it was not much. Wanting to get away from it all, me and Sage headed to the forest were we found Loveclan. Been here ever since." He shrugged like it was no big deal. But it hurt, bad, to tell the story.

"Yes, we do." He said. He looked at her, and for the first time noticed how bright her eyes were. His breath caught in his throat. A mouse darting across their path saved him, he leapt forward and killed it quickly.

Sagepelt woke up feeling a lot better. She again tried to get up and managed to do that the first time. Walking out of the den she instantly started looking for Foxfoot. Not finding him, nor Shadeheart worried her. Her brother had not said anything to her since yesterday. A sound at the entrance made her look. Shadeheart and a ver pretty white she cat walked in side by side. A flicker of annoyance flickered through her. She walked up to them acting friendly. "Hi, im Sagepelt, Shadehearts sister. You are?" She asked Littleleaf.

"Hi Littleleaf. Nice to meet you." Suddenly a wicked look appeared in her eyes. "Im glad some cat was able to penetrate Shadehearts prickly hide. Its looking good for you two." Shadeheart flushed crimson. "Sagepelt!" He barked embarrased. She gave them another evil look. And sauntered off, tail held high. "Eh... sorry about that."

Fernleaf looked around the camp.There was nothing for her to do.She decided to hunt.Since the clan wasin the middle of a famine they needed to hunt as much as they could.She began ranging out into the camps territory.Not much passed by her and what did was either not worth catching or darted away before hs ecould get to it.She ended up going ot of the clans bounderies to find food.he was now becoming starving.Yet she knew she musnt eat the meat she found since the elder,injured,kit,and queens needed food more despperatly then her.About half an hour after leaving clan territory she managed to catch a single slow finch out of the five she found.She sighed and buried it under a tree urrounded by rocks.This way she would remember where she ut it.The one tree surrounded by rocks.Why there were rock was unown to her.She just accepted that fact and continued on in her zig zag patern across the land she found just in search of food.During this time she began to think and ask wquestions.Where had all the prey scampered off to?What made it want to run away like this to leave the cats starving?It was only a matter of time before almost all of the warriors might need to be out o the camp almost all of the time in the earch for food.Fernleaf was only the firstone to start.In the past weeks catching her in the camp for a long time was rare.Normally just flashes in and out.Either with a little bit of prey or a depressed look from Fernleaf.She practicly dedicated herself to finding food for the clan.She was the cat who always found the most prey and she expected to keep that stature.She saw a nervous looking squirrel and leaped upon it.he went back to the rock tree and placed it with the finch.Fernleaf continued in a new direction to try and find more prey.Her mind once again floated back to the thought of hunting those flying rats at night but she was worried somthing bad would happen again.She suddenly smelled somthing he knew was bad.She smelled...somthing similar to a dog but not quite.It had a more vicous scent that saidIf you come near i wil shred you to iece and live off of your flesh'.Fernleaf didnt know what was happening befoe a huge mother wolf charged at her with teeth bared.They threw her into the air.She yowled even though there was obviously no cat close enough to hear.She was soon pinned down by the wolf with only one of its paws.She stared up at it with immense fear.Somthing in their eye said that the beastly thing planned on eating her."Help!"She yowled.She struggled but a sharp nip from the wolf ceased her strugglings.She wondered why the wolf hadnt alreadty killed her.Then she heard them.Four little pups bounding out of osme hidden place and charging towards their mother and what she had caught.Fernleaf now understood.She was practice prey for a wolfs pups.

Dasyflower woke up, she relised how sweled her belly was "i really let myse;f go..." she thought and tried to get up, all of a suddon she went into laber "help!" she yowled.

Starwalker was among the first to rush over.She immediatly relized what was going on.She looked Dasyflower in the eye and calmly said"Try to calm down.Relax."She knew that the first tep in any process such as this,remaining calm was one of the top prioritys.

Sagepelt, still wounded, lay down to take a nap under a tree. She dreamed and it was not pretty. She was walking through the forest but there was something wrong out here. And it was not just the savage smell. Suddenly out of no were a giant dog leapt at her. 'No its not a dog. Its a wolf!' A snarl brought other smaller wolfs running. She yowled for help. But a sudden look at her paws sent shock waves down her spine. They were not hers, they were Fernleafs! A sudden bright light knocked her away from Fernleaf. She was suddenly in the cave on the beach. "Why did you show me that?" She asked the stary warrior in front of her. It was once again her father, Night. " He looked at her then spoke. "Beware the darkness, for in it comes those who you seek. The wail in the night brings death." He then dissapeared, and Sagepelt was thrown back into her sleeping form. She jumped up with a yowl, hoping somoeone was close enough to hear. She dashed off to the spot were Fernleaf was in her dream. |

Fernleaf looked in fear as the large female wolf released her.She attempted to leap away but was lammed to the ground by a large paw.She stood up and watched at the pups cautiously approached her.In their mind she was a strange and mysterious beast that needed investigation on what it was before they did anything.One came up and prodded her.She sent it back swiftly with a quick hiss.

Shadeheart was sitting by the nursery waiting for the news on the kits. A sudden prickle went through his body. He shook it off as excitment for the new little ones. Sagepelt skidded to a halt at the edge of the hollow were Fernleaf was trapped. 'What do I do? What do I do!?' She looked around for something to help. Nothing. Deciding to do something she let out a vicious yowl, hoping to distract the wolves so Fernleaf could get away. |
