Sitting near the back of the plane, a girl with black hair had her crimson eyes glued to the small rectangular window to her right. Her brows furrowed in concentration as she tried to keep her animal shifts under wraps. And she just had be able to shift into the two species that basically hated each other; a canine and a feline. But, she loved them and the strengths they offered when ever she was under their skin.

But at the moment, she loathed them both. For she was in a rather enclosed space which made her edgier than normal and it caused her shifts to go at each other through the mental cages she had placed around them when she left school at the beginning of the summer. A sudden mental pain caused her to flinch and close her eyes as she shook her head.

As soon as the pain was cleared and her shifts calmed, she thought about her parents. Her real ones. Not her adoptive. They must have been shifters, but she didn't know who could shift into what. And during the summer, she had tried to get a hold of her birth parents. But bad luck had shown her that her mother died during her birth and her father comited suicide a few years later. 

Sighing, she felt the plane shift beneath her as it took off. Glueing her crimson eyes back to the window, she watched as the landscape went by and a small smile curved her lips. Ariskye was going back to the one place she really belonged.

The plane landed in the landing area. Everyone piled out of the plane and grabbed their suitcases. A 10-year-old-looking guy was waiting for everyone. People were whispering how he was the warden of the academy and he was really fifty-five years old stuck in a ten-year-old body. He led everyone to the huge school campus. Where there were four large buildings. One was Svir, one Lytue, one Wsley, and the last one was the biggest one. The last one is where the shifters learn their powers and how to control them.

The young guy split the pas.sengers into years they have been here. He let the second years and above be led by a lady with a big hair. The warden stayed with the first years and led them into the room that held "the Ring of Colors."

Ariskye sighed slightly as she felt the pressure of her backpack straps on her shoulders. A large enough duffle was at her feet as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail with a crimson band. The movement caused the tips of her ears to show. Point and all. Though part of her bangs covered one half of her face.

Stooping down, she grabbed the handles of the duffle and followed a woman with a rather loud hairstyle. Her nose wrinkled in distaste, but Ariskye followed the other woman to where ever she was leading the rest of the non-first years.

The warden unlocked the Ring of Colors from a glas.s container. He held it out for all of the first years to see. "Everyone get in a single file." he said, his voice booming. Everyone obediantly got in a single file.

First up was a young girl with dark brown hair and peircing eyes. She put the ring on and it turned a light green color, the color of gras.s. "Lyture!" the warden yelled and motioned for the girl to stand in the far left corner.

Next was a brilliant lookinig lad with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was placed in Svir. There was only one other person in front of Jared, meaning he only had to wait for one other person, soon it would be his turn.

After moments of waiting nerviously it was Jared's turn. He stepped up to the platform and slipped on the gold ring. It flashed blue, then green, then black. Over and over it flashed those colors in order, like it was trying to decide where to put him. Then it flashed bright green and stayed that color. "Lyture!" the warden yelled with puzzled eyes, never had the ring took so long to chose or flashed all colors on one person. Jared walked over to the girl with peircing eyes.

     Rakoren shifted his weight from one foot to another as he waited behind Reoko. All the while he was wondering about what he would be placed in. His thoughts flitted around in his mind, buzzing like bees. Where do I belong? What can I become?
