((Note: The last time I tried this role-play out, it completely flopped. I posted my intro, but my partner never posted after that. Whoever joins must be willing to commit to this role-play. Thankyou.))

Dop-pel-gang-er  noun
1    : The ghostly counterpart of a living person.

-x- || [Foreword] || -x-

- This is an open roleplay.
- It is going to be a 1x1.
- I am boing to be picky. Deal with it. I have the right to be picky.
- Don't throw fits if I don't accept you.
- No begging.
- No pleading.
- No annoying me. Srsly.
- I don't normally do open 1x1's. So hit me with a newspaper if I fail.
- If you're reading the foreword, it looks a lot like rules, doesn't it? That's because it is. Though the word 'foreword' sounds much better than the word 'rules,' doesn't it? Either way, these are virtually the rules.
- Literacy is a must. If I have roleplayed with you before, you are much more likely at getting the open spot in this roleplay.
- Both roles are open. Once someone decides to join, we'll discuss who will play as who. You must be versatile.
- Dnt mke ur charcter tlk lik ths.
- This is an original plot and roleplay. The definition above is just to help you realize what a doppelganger is. Let's just say that the doppelgangers in this roleplay won't be ghostly counterparts of a living person.
- Interested, aren't you?
- If you read all the way through this, you should probably post, 'A Death God's Game of Tag,' in red, bolded font when you ask for permission to join this roleplay.
- Yeah. That's about it.

-x- || [Plot] || -x-

In history, there are figures called 'doppelgangers'. The doppelgangers are really vampiric shapeshifters. Once the vampires are turned, they sometimes go through this extreme amount of sorrow and despair of not being able to live the life that they wish to have, so they make a deal with a demon, and the demon grants them the power to shapeshift, and absorb the memories of a human.

Generally, doppelgangers use their powers to steal the life of a human. Quite literally, mind you.

It all starts when the doppelganger decides on a human target. The doppelgangers shapeshifts to fit that human's exact appearance, and usually isn't too discreet. They freely walk around, and others see them as the human that they know. Not the bloodsucking monster that they really are. So, the doppelganger must wait three days of being in the human's shape, and then it will make a move to kill the human, and take all of the memories that they have ever had, allowing them to fit perfectly into the human's life, taking their place.

So, this has becoming more and more frequent, and the normal, non-doppelganger vampires are getting angry. Their covers are being blown due to the doppelgangers, and the more discreet, human-like vampires that live among humans are getting killed by vampire hunters, thanks to the doppelgangers. In short, they're being exposed. Though, the majority of human society doesn't suspect a thing about vampires or doppelgangers yet.

So, the whole doppelganger situation happens to a human girl, and, much to the surprise of the public, there have been sightings of the two humans together at once. The girl has even seen her doppelganger. But so has one of her male, vampiric, classmates. He plans on stopping the doppelganger, but he hasn't made his plan clear yet.

The whole doppelganger stuff stresses the girl out to the point of where she forgets to write her name on a test, and then the doppelganger comes into the classroom, masquerading as the girl. The teacher sees that the girl didn't write her name, and then the doppelganger accuses the girl of being an imposter. The police are called, and the boy whisks the girl away to safety. They're on the run from the doppelganger, now, who now has a personal grudge towards the vampire male who protected the girl, and is still hell-bent on stealing the girl's life.

-x- || [Extra Information] || -x-

- Vampires don't burn in the sunlight. It weakens them slightly. Vampires are at their full potential when they have recently fed on human blood, but animal blood is also able to be drank, though it isn't anywhere near as beneficial as human blood, and it doesn't satiate a vampire's bloodlust.
- Both the vampire male role and the female human role is open. The doppelganger will be an NPC mainly played by the rolepla[injection]yer who takes the human girl role.
- I would prefer to take the role of the human girl. Seeing as how I am a girl, and I just don't understand men as well as females. Plus, I'm much more advanced at writing through a female's point of view.
- Ask away. I don't bite..... hard. >D

How Literate are you? I've never seen any of your roleplay posts before, so could I have a general idea of how much you post?

I'd be happy to let you join if you're literate enough. ^.^

(( Pretty literate, with the exception of brain farts now and then. Everyone has those, and when I do, I only post about a paragraph. How literate I am depends on how literate everyone else is. If someone posts a sentence, I find it harder to get creative inspiration. ))

I post anywhere from three paragraphs to thirteen paragraphs. I'm an advanced literate. Still, seeing as how your literacy relies on your partner's literacy, I'll allow you to take the slot.

You will be snagging the vampy boy, correct?

I will be doing a bio for my character just to map her out for future reference.

I would prefer if you did a bio for your character, too, though it doesn't have to be as extensive as my bio.

(( Kk, I am assuming he looks like a normal human ))

Name: Chase Brandon (Only if he needs a last name)

Age: 16

Grade: Sophmore

Appearance: linky

Personality: He is sweet and friendly, but he is shy so most people don't get to know him. He tries to avoid drinking human blood, because the thought of drinking from a human when he was once a human disgusts him, but sometimes his cravings get bad enough to where he can't take it any more. He prefers to stay hidden in a corner because then no one finds out that he is a vampire. He has ADHD, so sometimes his sweet and friendly self can turn into cruel and sarcastic, and he gets extremely rude and hateful. He is also dyslexic, and he is extremely ashamed of it, which adds to his shyness because he wants no one else to know about it. REst will RP out I guess (I am not especially at totally following my characters personality, so this might change once over the rp)

Person in RP: Vampire Boy

History: He came from a broken home, and his mother wasn't married to his father or ever married to his father. Chase never actually met his father, for he left before Chase was born. Chase lived alone with his low-income mom, and lots of times when he was little he would go on the streets and beg for his next meal. They were a very happy little family though, and they both loved each other very much.
One day, something disrupted there life of working, begging, eating and sleeping. Chase's mother had been accepted into a prestigious college, and it went all year around. She wouldn't get to see Chase for another four years. Chase urged her to go, and finally she relented and left Chase to fend for himself. He found a job that would pay for his rent and his food, but he never had any money for anything else. His mother wrote to him frequently, but he still missed her dearly, for she had always been more like a big sister than a mother to him.
Then, disaster struck. One of his best friends had been bitten by a vampire, and had then turned around to bit him. Chase fled his house, and lived out in the forests for a year. He finally came upon another city, and he rented a small apartment and started work at a restaurant. He also started school in this new town, hoping to fit in as much as possible with the normal teenagers.

Likes: Small rodents like Squirrels and Chipmunks, the colors green and blue, and most of nature.

Dislikes: People who are mean to others with abnormalities (such as ADHD or dyslexia), spiders, vultures, and the colors yellow and orange

Fears: He has Arachnaphobia, and he has a fear of falling.

Other: Has dyslexia and ADHD

Your bio is good. :D

Here's mine:

Name|| Alyce Marie Kingsloft
Age|| Fifteen, nearing sixteen.
Grade|| Sophomore year in high school. Tenth grade.
Gender|| Female
Species|| She's a human.
Blood Type|| AB- (The most rare blood type. Less than one percent of the world's population has the AB- blood type.)
Appearance|| Standing at a nice 5'8", Alyce has a nice height advantage over the majority of the female race. And she's still growing. Her skin is lightly tanned, and she has good posture. Her build is lean and athletic, with noticeable curves that aren't overly-prominent. Her legs are long and lean. Her face has high cheek bones, with bright green eyes that are almond-shaped and on the larger side of the size scale. Her eyes are rimmed with black lashes. Her hair is a deep, rich chocolate brown and falls to her mid-back in loose, shiny waves. Her bangs swish to the right side of her face, and brush against the top of her right eyebrow. Her cheeks have a few freckles dotting them, though they aren't too noticeable due to her tan. Though, it isn't entirely unbelievable that she has Irish ancestry, seeing as how she has freckles, and, if her hair is hit with direct sunlight, it has reddish tones hidden in the brown, and gleams a pretty copper.
Personality|| Outgoing and unafraid, some might consider Alyce naive. She would be the girl to die first in a horror movie, deciding to go towards the sound instead of away from it. She isn't afraid of hardly anything, really, other than needles, heights, being held at gun or knife point, and flying insects. She is talented, quite beautiful, and has a nice figure- a combination that, if not monitored, could lead a naive girl like herself to her death. Still, despite her ignorance in the face of danger, Alyce is rather smart when it comes to problem-solving, and she has an insatiable hunger for knowledge, hence why her curiosity always gets the best of her. She has issues with sleeping, and she can't really fall asleep in a place that she's not familiar with. She will scout a place out for escape routes, places to hide, and other various things that could help her in some scenario cooked up in her mind before actually settling down. She has a strong maternal instinct, and sometimes that instinct gets the best of her. She's not the least bit phased by blood, really.
History|| Having grown up in a good environment, Alyce was a sheltered child. She was a carefully planned child born to two veterinarians who worked out of their large home. She virtually grew up in a mansion. However, as her parents' business drooped, they moved out of their larger home for a smaller, more normal one. She was so young that she doesn't remember the transition to this day, but she vaguely remembers the many staircases of her mother and father's mansion.
Her parents were perfectly happy together. That was, until Alyce's mother was diagnosed with a chronic blood-related disease when she was five. Alyce's mother lived for two years in the constant care of a hospital until she finally died. Alyce didn't fully understand the concept of death at age seven, so she didn't grieve. She never had the need to. Still, she misses the mother that she once had. Hence why she has such an overwhelming maternal instinct.
After her mother's death, Alyce's father was depressed for a while, as the average man would be, but he got over it after about a year, though he never showed interest in another woman, much to Alyce's convenience. She probably wouldn't have been able to handle seeing her middle-aged father, who was a good few years older than her mother, with another woman. It would have driven her crazy, she guessed.
So, she grew up like any child would. And is now attending the local public high school, aiming to become a veterinarian like her mother was, and like her father still is.
Likes|| Chocolate, red and white flowers, the colors red, white, black, and silver, animals, children, and swimming.
Dislikes|| Crying, people who push others away, people who hate books, people who complain too much, annoying noises, droning sounds, mysterious beeps, bitter foods.
Fears|| Heights, needles, being confronted with a weapon, and she doesn't like any sort of flying bug. Spiders are fine, roaches don't bother her on the ground, but when a bug takes flight, she runs away screaming.
Other|| She plays the violin, the piano, sings, and dances. No matter how good she is at those things, though, she strives to get better.

Psh. It's fine. Your bio wasn't lame. I just made mine really, really, unnecessarily elaborate.

Of course I'll start~

And I think that maybe our characters should be acquaintances. You know, they've seen eachother around, but they've never formally introduced themselves to one-another. They may know the other's names, but only if they heard other people referring to them.

Get what I'm saying?

Sorry for the wait, dearie. Long stressful evening. e.e Crazy family I have. XD

Bic://

Alyce wasn't exactly the most normal girl in town. Her long legs carried her quickly towards the train station. That morning, her alarm clock hadn't gone off, and she was met by her father, who simply asked her why she wasn't up and moving. His voice hadn't been angry- just confused. Alyce woke up on time the majority of mornings, and got ready in time for school.

However, that morning, she looked a bit less made-up than usual. With no makeup on, her hair still a bit wet, and the tie around the collar of her uniform not done straight, she wasn't looking the best that she ever had. However, she was still a relatively attractive girl. Her bright green eyes frantically searched the subway tunnel, resting on a clock that hung over the schedules for the subway.

She'd slid her subway card at the entrance of the subway tunnels, and ran down the stairs with a bit of clumsiness. She had a scraped knee to show for her slight fall down the concrete stairs, and it was still oozing a bit of fresh blood. However, it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. She'd been bitten by animals many times, but they hadn't been hostile- just overly and roughly playful. A scraped knee was nothing compared to being bitten by a great dane- she'd had to get stitches for that as a child.

She didn't have many close friends in the city, despite having lived there for so long, and her outgoing personality. However, she was acquainted with almost everyone that attended her highschool, if not becoming their friend. She had a tendency to talk to everyone at the same time, instead of focusing on just one person.

As she arrived at the pick-up location for the subway, she sighed with relief. She made it just on time. The train was coming towards her. But, on the other side of the indention dug for the subway to glide through, she saw something startling. She saw herself through empty windows and spaces between subway carts.

But this wasn't her, really.

Even Alyce could tell that.

"What on Earth?..." She was dumbfounded. The other her had on cherry-red lipstick that showed off her- no, Alyce's full lips. She was wearing clean, neat clothes, and carried a designer purse. And the other Alyce had on makeup. Lots of it, really.

As the subway screeched to a halt to pick up passengers, Alyce nearly forgot to get onto the train. Her feet numbly moved her into the subway cart, which was becoming quite crowded. Her knee was starting to sting by now. When she got to school, she decided, she would have the nurse take a look at it.

Perhaps she was going crazy. Maybe she was hallucinating from being too stressed or exhausted, and saw herself how she wished she looked that day. She ran a hand through her damp, wavy hair, and held onto a nearby pole as the subway jerked forward, and began to move.

Ooc://

Sorry for not answering your question at the beginning of this post, but, as you can see, it's set in modern times, in an up and coming city. Not New-York big, but it's still big and all.

Chase paced around his small, one bedroom apartment. It was nothing much, but it certainly was home. He had plastered the walls with pictures of his mom with him. There were so many. From going to the beach, to swinging at the park, you name something fun and inexpensive to do, they did it. His mom had tried to make sure his life was as normal as possible, even though he lacked a dad and a steady income. She had been so kind and caring, and she had treated him like a little brother more than a mother. He had been her center of attention, but all of that was different now.

He ran his tongue across the two sharp Incisors that now occupied the space where normal teeth would be. Yes, a lot had definitely changed, and if it was for the better or the worse, nobody really knew. He thought of the man he had left lying on the street from lack of blood a week ago. It was definitely worse, he would give anything to be back with his mom. he knew he could never go back though, for her safety and the safety of all his friends. He sighed and walked out the door, knowing another second spent dawdling would make him late. He ran outside and pulled on his parka. Why he was always so cold was anyone's guess, but he just always was. Maybe because he was cold blooded. He threw the hood over his head to keep himself out of the sunlight. He had learned that one of his favorite things could never be enjoyed again. It was so sad...

He waved to a couple people he recognized before his head disappeared underground. He bought his ticket and threw himself on the train, swirling himself around the metal poles in the center. He took a seat near the back of the bus, being careful not to draw anyone's attention. That was the last thing he needed. When the train stopped at a station, all the passengers but him got off. He looked out the side of the car and saw the girl who sat next to him in algebra class. Her name was Alyce wasn't it? He turned away, trying not to be recognized. When he looked out the other window, he saw something totally unexpected. Was that Alyce, too?

No, it can't be. The only way there could be two of them is if the other one was a doppelganger.

The word rang through his mind, and he realized that was exactly what one of them was. That meant that the real Alyce would be in trouble.

And I am the only one who knows about this. Alyce probably thought her doppelganger was just someone who looked a lot like her. I have to get up the courage to warn her, but how?

Chase sat in his chair, dumbfounded. He couldn't believe what he had just seen. He had been tempted with the opportunity of being a doppelganger many times, and had declined each of them. There must be more in this city than he thought.

He moved up into the car of the bus where all the passengers entered. Now he could only hope that this was the train Alyce would take.
