This was the time to act. With little doubt Katriona pulled the trigger and shot straight for the stuttering creature. The backlash surged into her muscled shoulders and chest as the bullet streamed right for the target...if her shock and surprise had not already knocked it off course. Cursing Katriona clipped her handgun to her belt and rolled her arms, feeling the strain of shooting already pulsing through them. It had been too long since a kill.
Stepping forwards she growled and scowled at the figure, ignoring personal safety for now. At the moment she cared little for it.
Why won't you die! she thought furiously, hands scrabbling for the knife at her waist. Grabbing the hilt she drew it and held the glittering blade in a clenched hand.

Emmy cowered in the tree high above the small boy. She hung upside down by her back claws, her wings wrapped around herself to keep her warm. A cool breeze caused her to sway slightly and wrap her wings tighter around herself. A dozen thoughts ran through her mind. Should she help the boy she'd never met? Or stay up here where it was safe, and maybe the Hunter wouldn't notice her? From where she was, she could sense the Hunter perfectly. It seemed that the woman was about to attack the boy further. Without another moment of hesitation, Emmy released her grip on the branch and hurtled towards the Hunter, hoping to surprise her and help the boy get to safety.

Aire heard a gunshot, and rather than jump out of the way, froze in terror. Had it not been for her moving, it would have killed him for certain, but instead it hit his wing, knocking him back and making him cry out in pain. Quickly getting to his feet once more, tears streaking down his face and blood dripping from the wound in his wing, he backed up as far as he could go, to the very edge of the shadows. He was too immobilised with fear at the mere thought of stepping into those inky depths to attempt it. Out of seemingly no where, though, something flew out at the figure, and Aire thought he saw leathery wings flash past momentarily. What on earth was it? And, more importantly, why had it just flown straight for that bad person?
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

Katriona's eyesight was blurred when a large batting figure sped in front of her, stumbling backwards with knife in the air. However, despite her shock, training won over. With a low snarl she regained her composure and settled into a ready position, legs spread and feet light on the ground, ready to jump at any moment.
There was a feline grace to her as she stepped forwards, knife in the air while she grabbed a second, larger, one from her belt. Holding both in front of her Katriona grinned and bared her teeth.
"Nice try," she hissed loudly. Eyes narrowed at the bleeding boy in front of her. No pity was spared despite his young age and tormented face. Pity was for the weak, not the Hunters. |

Emmy's eyes widened at the sight of the knives. She swallowed nervously and spread her wings wide, hoping to appear even a bit intimidating. "Don't hurt him," she squeaked, her voice high with both fear and the effect of being half bat.

Aire heard the tiny squeak that was the little girl, and realized it was another kid. But, for the first time in his life, it was another kid just like him. The shock of finding this out helped drown his fear for a moment, as he bent down and picked up a nearby rock, before hurling it at the bad woman. It was on a course straight for her shoulder, but the rock was too msall to do anything worse than annoy her, even if it did hit. It was nothing more than a childish idea, that he could knock her out and run away wih this girl who was like him.
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

When the rock thumped against her unprotected shoulder Katriona was sure she had nearly lost it. Nearly, but not quite. Rather, the experienced hunter channelled her energy and anger into toying with the children. Considering her current level of rage it was better to leak some of it out before killing them.
"What have we here?" she purred, circling closer. She ignored the cry of the little girl above. Katriona's reflexes were enough to stop any attack the clumsy child might make.
"Two little children lost in the woods. Which of you, I wonder, is Little Red Riding Hood?" Katriona smiled and raised a hand, sheathing the smaller knife as she did so. She ran a bare thumb across the blade, drawing a pale line of blood.
"Both, I suppose. Because not one of you is getting out of here alive, especially you." Katriona pointed her knife at the boy, enjoying herself immensely. |

Emmy bared her tiny fangs at the scary woman. "Red Riding Hood lived in the story! The big meanie wolf was the one who died! You're getting at all wrong." She let out a squeal, much too high-pitched to be heard by a normal human, aimed at the woman. The squeal was powerful enough to knock her out for ten minutes at least, twenty at the most, if it hit.

Aire's hands were physically trembling as he attempted to back away from the woman. Did she just... Did she just cut herself? How much scarier could she get? All too quickly, though, he had reached the edge of the clearing, and his golden eyes flickered around as he tried to come up with some form of escape. He couldn't fly away- at least he doubted he could- not with the state his wing was in. He might get up into the air, but what about the bat girl? Would she manage to get away? Maybe, if he- His thoughts were cut off immediately, and his eyes widened. What was that? It hurt his ears, and he reached up to cover them, falling to his knees, face contorted in pain as, even though he covered his ears with his hands, it pierced through and created agonising pain.
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.

Katriona rolled to the side the moment the girl opened her mouth. Dammit, good thing she had made the connection between mouths and echolocation quickly enough. However, even as she rolled her injured shoulder smacked into a hard rock, furthering the pain.
"That, little one, is where you are completely, absolutely and utterly wrong. Little Red Riding Hood is a fairy tale...this, however, is not. In my story, the children don't get to stay alive." Katriona growled as she stood up again, eyes dark.
Smirking Katriona hefted the blade again, ignoring the flashes of pain, then considered her choices. Go for the flying one first, who could get away, or the easier target. However, knowing that she would have more chances if she went after the girl, Katriona acted swiftly and without hesitation.
Skipping backwards she loosened her muscles then sprang forwards, leaping into the air with a powerful thrust. Aimed directly for the little girl Katriona felt adrenaline surge through her veins as she twisted acrobatically midair, arm and knife extended. The twisting in her shoulder meant little as it all but disappeared from her system.
Ooc; We needed some excitement :U
EDIT; Perfectly acceptable to dodge this. xD And I'll let Katriona be hit next time. o3o

Emmy took off into the air, but wasn't quite fast enough to stop the blade from scoring a long, deep line down her left leg. She cried out in pain and drew the leg up to her chest, her wings beating faster to get her out of the way of another attack. "Why did you do that to me?" she cried, tears of pain streaking down her face. "I haven't done anything to you, and neither has he!"

Aire finally got up from the floor, his head ringing from that noise he'd heard. Seeing the bat girl in the air, her leg drawn up to her chest, he froze for a moment. What should he do now? The fact that she was in the air was good... At least, it would've been. Had his wing not been damaged, and had he enough space for a run-up to get flying. But, because neither of these things were there, he decided to just distract the nasty woman a bit more, so the bat girl could get away and he could... Well, he could do something. He didn't really want to go into those dark depths. Now, he was trapped. Picking up a fallen branch, far too long for him to weild it properly, he did possibly the stupidest thing he'd done in a while. He charged at the woman, and swung the branch wildly, attempting to hit her.
Well now. I should... Probably put something intelligent here. At some point. Eventually.
