Daryn, as usual, was alone. Not in the literal sense, for she was at the small park of her old hometown, and there were quite a few children screaming and dashing about wildly with their parents looking on anxiously. Instead, it was more as if an aura of loneliness hung about her like a heavy, stifling cloak. Ever since she had arrived back in her old town a few days ago Daryn had been making daily excursions to the park, visiting her old hiding spots and the places she had hung out with her friends.
Leaning against a large oak Daryn looked up at the sky, her thoughts drifting aimlessly as she waited for no one in particular. It's so much calmer here, she mused with a smile. Compared to the big cities. Instead of car engines you hear birds singing. I wonder why I left this place in to begin with. Closing her eyes Daryn let the cool spring breeze waft over her face, rustling the striped scarf she had draped about her neck and teasing strands of her blonde hair.
