Junie sat up and looked at the the boy who had just come out. "it's fine" she smiled standing up. she walked over to him "are you okay?" she asked. he didn't look so well. she brushed back a strand of her red hair and tucked behind her ear. she took her hand and felt his forehead. "you don't look so well." she told him in concern. her eyes were full of concern he looked like he was about to throw up. "we need to get you inside." she told him walking him to the door. she walked him inside and closed the door behind her. she knew that Rukiea would want to be alone for a while.

Rukiea blushed slightly when she saw Dakota staring at them. She looked on as Junie took him away. She reached out to try and grab Junie or Dakota's pants, but she backed out at the last minute. She sighed and stood up. She walked over to the large iron gate that held them in and the rest of the world out. She placed her hand on the bar and held it somewhat tightly. She let a tear roll down her pale cheek. Color faded off her face and she became almost a pale white. She sighed and dropped to her knees. "Why.. Why did you do it.. Why did you kill each other and leave me alone..."

Teresa said nothing for a moment, her hands curling in to fists at her sides. She stared directly forward, but glanced up and met his eyes when he wiped her tears away with his thumb. She shivered.
She didn't actually know what she was doing at his door, letting him see her cry like that. but she just didn't really want to sit and relive that terrible moment that had turned her life upside down. Not alone at least.
He kept asking her why she was crying.
"I..." She paused. "A-after you left I remembered my past. I know you told me to rest but your drawing... the drawing of your brother... it made me want to see if I could do it too. Preserve the memories of my family." She added quickly.
"I ended up drawing my mother when she was murdered by my father. He tried to strangle me after that." Her small, pale hand reached up unconsciously and touched her neck. The place where huge, hand-shaped bruises still left a faint mark.
She blinked, surprised to feel tears gathering at the corners of her eyes again. Hurriedly she wiped them away. "I'm sorry." She hadn't meant to come and ramble on about her past.
She took out the drawing of his brother, Jake, from her pocket, and held it out towards him. "I'm giving this back." She said. "It's important, right? You need it more than I do."

Kyin looked at Teresa and smiled slightly. He was relieved she was okay, but he was worried about her. Maybe his drawign did cause something, but he wasn't about to let it stay at this. "No. I don't really need it, please, keep it. If I ever find my brother, I will have him instead of some drawing I made to make up for everything I lost." Kyin looked at her as she touched her neck. He saw the faint bruises and his eyes widened slightly. "Anyways, you know you shouldn't try to remember the past. I only want to remember my brother. And well, the past is the past. Don't forget it but don't remember the bad things..." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "You'll be fine. The future may not be bright, but there is a shimmer. DOn't worry." he smiled and carried her. He walked down the hallways and into her room. He looked at the drawings. He set her down getnly on her bed and picked up all the drawings. He noticed any of them weren't very happy drawings. He placed them on her small dresser that every orphan recieved. "There.. Now, go to sleep. I can help you if you want. I used to put RIku to sleep... Even though he is older."

(( Finally back. :D I'm not going anywhere else for the rest of the summer, I think. So. ))
Teresa smiled at him. "You talk like you're in a book." She remarked. The future may not be bright, but there is a shimmer.Thinking over the comforting words made her smile broaden.
She decided to let Kyin carry her to her room without making a big deal about it. It was still chilly and she was glad she had warm arms surrounding her, even for a few moments.
She slipped out of his grasp and sat down on her cot once more, her hazel eyes following him as he piled all her depressing drawings on the top of the dresser.
"Sleep?" She echoed, a frown tainting her pale features. She paused, realizing that there was no point in arguing. It wasn't like she wasn't tired.
"Okay. I think I'll be fine on my own though."

"Oh right... You probably had nightmares of what happened.. Same here.. I've had too many nightmares so I tend not to sleep very much... I just fell asleep a few hours ago and had to wake up when I heard someone outside in the hallways." He yawned and looked at Teresa. "Yeah, sleep... I mean, you don't have to after all.. I wouldn't want to fall asleep in this place. Riku is the only thing that will put me to sleep.. That meanie is always forcing me to sleep." He gave a small chuckle and sat on the floor. "If you don't mind, I want to make sure you'll be okay.. I know we aren't quite friends or acquaintances, but I want to help people feel a little better." He smiled and crossed his arms on her cot. He put his head on his crossed arms. "Anyways, do you mind me staying here until breakfast?" |

Teresa shrugged, leaning back on the flat pillow she had been provided when she had first arrived at the orphanage. "Sure." She replied. After closing the blinds on her window, the room became slightly darker, and she curled up and closed her eyes.
It was hard to fall asleep when you knew someone was right beside you. She was used to sleeping alone by this point.
She tried to think about something else, but her mind kept straying back to Kyin. She had felt a slight twinge of envy whenever he mentioned his brother, Riku; what was it like to have a sibling? Someone that was always near, that you could confide in no matter what?
Teresa opened her eyes. "Kyin?" She asked quietly. "What's your brother like?"

Kyin looked at Teresa. "I.. I really don't know much about Riku.. We shared our room for most of our life and even here, we were as.signed two rooms but we ended up sleeping in one.. He's secretive and untrusting of people... He was shot when he was little, so he's never liked violence toward anything.. ob
ject, animal, or human... But, the Riku I've lived with is really nice and smart. He has a way of getting along with people but he doesn't have many friends. He's odd in some ways and is a really good artist.. He doesn't seem to dislike anything though, which is what I really find weird. I mean, doesn't everybody hate something?" He smiled a little. "You know, if you want.. You should meet him. we are twins, so you already know what he looks like. But anyways, I'm sure Riku will be grateful to meet someone new. He is kind of scary though when he talks about the day..." Jake looked at the floor. "The day we were orphaned..." Jake looked up and looked at Teresa. "Anyways, do you knwo anybody else?"

Teresa perked up slightly. "Know anybody else?" She echoed. "Like at the orphanage?" She thought for a moment, then her ex
pression darkened slightly.
"Earlier you mentioned that I was lucky to have a room to myself." She said, shifting into a more comfortable position on her bed. "I didn't at first. When I was ten- almost five years ago- my roommate got adopted."
She remembered the abandonment she had felt when her roommate had just not come to bed one day, and the next morning the guardians of the orphanage had told her that she had been adopted.
She hadn't even said good bye.
That was pretty much the last time Teresa had made serious friends with anyone at the orphanage. So she shook her head. "After that, nothing. I chatted with some people, but I don't really... interact."
The breakfast bell clanged harshly. She stood up and looked at Kyin, pointedly avoiding looking at the drawings that were gathered on her dresser.
"Do you mind if I sit with you at breakfast?" She asked somewhat stiffly, brushing her black hair back. "Eating alone is boring."

Kyin smiled and shook his head. "i don't mind. I have at least 2 years of this now... I'm trying to make friends.. I'm going to be booted out when Riku and I turn 18... It's not very fun.." He stood up and looked to the door. "Riku will be sitting with us. I don't know if you want to sit with him. But he is really sweet." He grabbed her wrist and walked out of her room. "He should be here soon. He is usually the first one cuz they get the most food.." He walked into the line of orphans. He waited. "well, i hope you get to make friends here.." Riku grabbed his tray of food and walked to a table. He sat down and looked around. Kyin isn't usually this late for breakfast.. He isghed. |

"I don't mind." Teresa said with a slight smile of anticipation. She was curious about meeting Kyin's twin brother.
She hurried after Kyin, falling in to step behind him in the cafeteria line. The food wasn't actually terrible here as one might expect due to it's prison-like appearance and feel. After Kyin she grabbed her loaded tray and walked out of the pushy line of orphans.
She didn't say anything, instead scanning the cafeteria. Maybe Riku had already picked a table.
She had guessed correctly. She spotted a boy, who looked exactly the same as Kyin, sitting at one of the far tables. Since her tray occupied both hands, she nudged Kyin's side with her elbow.
"The far table by the window. That's him, right?"
