Lily didn't care that she disliked James. She didn't care that he was an arrogant bully and had technically started this whole thing. She felt comfort in his arm, and she leaned into him with a sniffle. "Yes he is. He's my best friend...was...I don't know," She mumbled.
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip.

"Some best friend he is, calling you that." James replied softly, wrapping her in his embrace. "He doesn't deserve you, he never will. I hope that, now, you can finally see that." Lucius stopped, looking down. That looked like Severus. He tapped him lightly with his cane. "You okay?" He asked, offering him a gloved hand. Severus took it, pulling himself upright. "No, I'm not okay." He replied, his eyes watery with unshed tears. "But I need to talk to you about that thing." |

Lily hugged him back, mostly because she needed more comfort. She buried her face into his shoulder, wetting his shirt with her tears. "Thanks, James."

((ohjames. u so bad.)) Lily tried to do what he said, taking a few deep breaths before she managed to stop the tears from flowing. She pulled back slightly so she could wipe her eyes with the back of her hand.

((He's so adorable, though. *o*)) Lily offered him a small smile, still trying not to think about how this was James Potter for God's sake and that she shouldn't be taking comfort from a boy she hated- Well, no, she didn't hate him... she rather admired him in a way, actually. She liked the way he stuck up for the younger kids that would be bullied by those icky Slytherins... then again, wasn't James a bully, too? Man, this was hard to figure out.

"Come on." James said, standing. He held his hand out to her. "Let's go to dinner." Lucius threw an arm around Severus' shoulders. "Let's talk about this over the dinner table, Sev. Then we can make our decision." He proposed, steering the lost boy towards the Great Hall. Severus nodded solemnly. |

Lily hesitated a moment, her hand hovering above his. She looked into James' eyes. How did she never notice how cute he was before? Maybe because he was too busy being an ass.hole, the voice in her head said, but she shook it off, placing her hand in his. "Okay, sure."

"Sorry." James apologized, steering her towards the Gryffindor table, and effectively away from where Severus was sitting. He looked up, groaning when he saw that they were together. His head hit the table with a loud 'thump'. "There there, Severus. Eat some steak, forget about her." |
