"Yuh-huh," Ryo moved his hand, but still gave Sorai a light push in the right direction. If he had kept walking in the same direction he had been walking in, he would've eventually walked into the balcony-thingy. Of course, Sorai would probably see it before he did...

Sorai kept on moving towards the scent, moving in the directions that Ryo would nudge him in. His great sense of smell, plus Ryo's ablity to see better in the dark than he could, made for a great way to return to the circus grounds at night.

Ryo blinked. "You should probably stop relying on scent so much," he said, placing a hand on Sorai's shoulder again and moving him to the right. "Well, maybe just a little less, since it's gotten you pretty far, but you should still try and look around every-so-often."

"Go on," Ryo said, holding the door open for Sorai. "If I go in first, I might shut the door on you." he joked. It wasn't exactly possible, but it still might happen. Or, at least, Ryo thought so. He was planning on being more careful around Sorai now. He was one clumsy male.

Sorai tilted his head slightly to the side, dark eyes trained on the neko. "Me...?" he asked, just wanting to be sure he had heard correctly. What Ryo was thinking about that had upset him so much...was him...?

Ryo took a deep, shaky breath, and explained: "My mum died, my father became even more of a jerk, he remarried... His wife ignored me, and because I started getting really depressed, my friends did, too. But, I had, like, two friends, so I had been lonely even before my friends left me alone. And since I had no friends, there was a lot more people who wanted to tease me about my...catness when they were gone. They saw what happened to me, and they only gave me these pitying looks, as if that was all they could do." He sighed and sat down the floor, wrapping his arms around his legs. "I was, oh, thirteen, maybe? No, fourteen. Well, I don't know, but that's when I left with Darius. He was only starting out then, but there was still quite a bit of people here then."

Ryo's ears perked up, then flattened again, as if something had surprised him. But actually, something had surprised him; he was telling all of this to Sorai.

Sorai sat down beside Ryo, wrapping his arms around the neko, hoping to comfort him at least a little bit, frowning lightly. "If they had really ever truly been your friends, they should have helped you out..." he murmured, growling softly as he thought about it. "They should have been there for you to help you out even before then...." He gave the catboy a light nuzzle. "Unlike them, I won't leave you behind..." he promised. "Once you befriend a dog, you're stuck with it for life," he told him, hoping to cheer him up a bit.

"And that sounds a lot like the reason why I'm so defensive around strangers...." he said after a bit. "But I never really had friends to begin with since not many people wanted to hang around with the 'mutt'."

((Hurr. You know how kids are. D;

I'm sure Sorai's been called a mutt at least once in his lifetime.)) 

"You're not a mutt, Sorai..." Ryo murmured, returning the light nuzzle. "If anything, you're what a real human should be... Not that we're not humans. We're just close to it," He chuckled quietly, and placed a hand on Sorai's arm.

"The reason you're defensive around strangers is why I hate strangers." Ryo smiled a little. "But Darius seemed determined to get me to like him when I met him. In the end, I did. He also seems determined to get me to like everyone, including you." From inside the train, Ryo heard a loud mumble that sounded like, "Who's talkin' 'bout me...?" He grinned.

Sorai smiled, chuckling softly. "Isn't it sad when the people with animal ears and tails are more human than humans are?" he asked, pausing a moment to run that over again. "It sounded less confusing in my head..." he muttered, ears pricking up. At Ryo's last sentence Sorai feigned a hurt look, unable to keep it for too long before he cracked up, unable to keep a straight face. "Well, now that you can be sure I'm not going to eat you, do you?" he asked, ears twitching.
