"Never bring that horrid drink here again."

"It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

Nero Fowl, sat in a leather chair, his blue eyes narrowed, deep in thoughts of anger. His brother, that Julius, seemed to ruin everything. He wanted to be the one who plotted as well as his father, the smartest one in Fowl Manor. His face was fixed into a frown, as he looked out a window from where he was seated. Nero hated to admit it, but he was absolutely jealous.

Dravius Butler, the youngest of the current line, poked his head inside of the large computer room where the eldest Fowl was glowering out the window. "Are you alright, sir?" Although Dravius was about the same age as Nero, and a slight and not at all threatinging looking, he was the deadliest person in the manor at this point. "You seem a bit upset."

Nero swiveled his chair around to face Dravius. He folded his hands on his lap, and blew some black hair out of his eyes.

"I'm fine," he lied, in a drawling voice. "Just seems that it is too damp outside, from last night's raining."

Nero shut his mouth as soon as he said those words. Why would I be angry about the weather! That's the worst lie I've ever heard, and it came from my own mouth! He clenched his fists, turning his anger at his brother, onto how stupidly he had talked. Some son of Artemis Fowl you are!

"Um, alright then, sir." Dravius said, eyes confused. " Um...is your brother the source of your frustrations?" Dravius walked over to Nero and scratched the back of his head. "Can I get you anything?" He said, tracing the celtic light symbol inscribed on his left arm and waited paitently, red and yellow eyes calm.

Nero closed his eyes for a moment, in some irritation at himself. Even a butler knew what the source of his problems were, and he just kept on not admitting it. Nero put a hand against his forehead, like his head was have a major headache, and it felt like that to him, with this problem weighing on his mind. He leaned into the chair more.

"I'm fine, really. If you may, get me some springwater?" he asked.

Julius walked through the halls, fingering his upturned elfish ears. A genetic condition, his father had told him, a rare one only carried by very few bloodlines. He had seen one other with ears such as his. A visitor to their household once. Her name was Holly Short, and she seemed very close to his father. Julius heard voices in the next room, and Dravius, the latest in the Butler line, speak of him. His brother never did like him, and Julius never knew why. He spent his days trying to please him, only digging the hole deeper.

((Sure, Wolf. =) I've read all of the Artemis Fowl books multiple times, including the Artemis Fowl Files. ))

Dravius bowed slightly to Nero and backed out of the room, shaking his shaggy head. In surprise, he spoted the other Fowl heir, a boy named Julius. "Hello, Master Fowl." He said stiffly, running his eyes up and down the petite, almost fairy-like boy. "Do you need anything?"

"No, I'm just.. I don't know... Why doesn't Nero like me?", Julius asked, looking obviously troubled and upset. He looked downwards, his black hair drooping in to his unhumanly blue eyes that contrasted greatly with his creamy skin.

"I believe it is because he thinks you are more intelligent than him, sir." Dravius answered, pulling a large jug of spring water from the fridge, and a frosted gl*censored* from the freezer.

"Please, I told you not to call me sir, I'm only twelve.", Julius laughed, "Why should my intelligance threaten him? He's very bright himself, and I am his senior by two years. Butler, why am I so different than the others? My ears, my diminuative heigh... Why, I'm even shorter than most Eight year old children! Sometimes I wonder if I was adopted..."

"Life is a mystery, Master Fowl." Dravius said, pouring the water and sighing. "I believe the ears are genetic disorder, although not one I've heard of before. And who knows, you may just a be a fairy in disguise." Dravius laughed and sighed again. "You should not worry too much. One moody Master Fowl is one too many."

Julius chuckled, believing that Butler had made up the fairy thing. "I have, however, seen one other with the same ears as I have. Do you recall the name Holly Short? She visited us a year or so back.", he said, looking up at Butler, "Is she related to me?"

Nero watched as Dravius left to get him his water, then turned his chair around, so he could see out the window again. The sky was filled with gray clouds, and Nero groaned. The coming of another rainfall something today, was what Nero expected. At least he knew how to tell that. Nero then turned to his computer, which had a blank screen, and considered, finding a place that could be reached by airplane, somewhere far from here, but decided against it. Not now... I'll do that later.

" Indeed I do, Master Julius." Butler smiled and yawned. "And I don't belive you are related, but your father seems quite attracted to her. Who knows?" Dravius raised an eyebrow and raised his index finger. "If it's not to much of a bother, I do belive Master Nero wished for some springwater." Dravius held out the silver tray with the water and gl*censored* on it. "Maybe he will be in a slightly better mood when he gets it, hmm?"

"You want me to deliver it?", Julius asked, confused, "I'm afraid that'll put my brother in an even worse mood. And please, stop it with the formalities, Butler, you're four years older than me. You have seniority. Even though I'm smart, it dosn't mean that I have your experiance. If anyone should use formalities, it would be me."

"Ah, but who has hired me, Master Julius?" Draviuss aid, raising an eye brow. He patted the young elf's head, with the hand covered witht the swirl of the Celtic light symbol. "Well, will you at least come with me? We will see if we can't put him in a better mood, hmm?"

"Never bring that horrid drink here again."
