Personality: Kaina is sly and ambitious, though she is not social a lot, only when she chooses to be. Even though she is sly, she is jumpy. Kaina is afraid of being killed or injured badly by monsters. She tries not be annoying if she talks to someone. Her whole life, she has had one rule for herself. Fight and defend yourself or end up dying.

History: Monsters were still around back when Kaina was born. Her mother hid her away for some time to keep her from dying. When Kaina was nine years old, her mother was killed. Her father was already dead. Kaina managed to escape from the monster that killed her mother. She grew up after that for a while on her own. Then she met up with other kids, who were part of the group, which she joined.

Other: Kaina has five long scars down her left arm, from the monster who she managed to escape from when she was nine.

Intro:

Kaina stood in utter darkness. She held her breath, smelling a disgusting stench, that made her want to wrinkle her nose in disgust. The sewer was something she so hated, all slimy-looking, but it was something that was better than being attacked by some monster. "Way better than that," she muttered.

Kaina squinted her blue eyes. She brushed her fingers down her left arm, face twisting into fear, as she remembered that one day, when she had seen her mother killed right before her eyes. Kaina shuddered. These things, these monsters had destroyed her life, got rid of her family.

An anger ripped through her, as she thought over and over again about her mother dying at those vicious predators that preyed upon humans. She wanted to destroy them, for everything that had happened to her. For the scars on her arm, the mark they had left on her. Kaina's blue eyes blazed. For a brief moment she gripped tightly on the knife she had with her.

Kaina gritted her teeth. These monsters will pay the price one day, they will! She spat onto the ground she stood on. The monsters have drove us to lurking in sewers. Kaina, in fury bit her lip.

She flicked the brown hair out of her eyes, in sudden annoyance at it. Her hair hung loose, draped over her shoulders. Kaina had once worn her hair in a ponytail, but that had been before the tragedy that had happened to her. Ponytails had lost her interest, and she came to having her hair worn loose.

Kaina shifted in the dark. Her eyes flicked around the sewer, expecting something to jump out from the shadows. I hope some monster does. I'll get rid of it, she thought, though she knew that she would probably be killed trying. Well, at least I would've tried.

Underground. The damp, dark regions of the Earth, that, until recently, had been relatively unexplored, and had never been used like this. Here resided the base of operations for the few that dared oppose the Nightcrawlers. She was one of them, but she hated the darkness of their 'home'. She hated everything to do with shadows. They contsained what noone could bear to see in the light. Nightmares lurk in their every inch, and Nightcrawlers find amnesy there. Every frightening thing resides in them. Leena avoids unlit rooms like the plauge.

She walked into the main room, if you could call it a room, careful to flip the lights on before entering. She had been hoping to find Silent there, but the only things there were inanimate; a long table with chairs along the sides and at the ends, a computer at every seat. She sighed. It seemed that the base was always empty, lonely, and devoid of life.

Kaina sighed, then turned her back to the sewer. She heard sound, and reached for her knife, but stopped. It couldn't have been a monster, they were so big, after all, and when she turned to look there was nothing there. She shook her head at herself being so scared. I'm getting too jumpy nowadays.

Kaina was always so jumpy, since she witnessed the destruction of her mother, the very center of her life. She had felt at that time like her heart had been torn. Kaina had never seen her father, so she didn't have any closeness to him. She had been, though, close to her mother. Kaina shook herself from her sorrow. "I better get back to the base," Kaina murmured to herself.

A boy with red hair slipped through the shadows of the city. His golden eyes were narrowed and cold. But they were glued to the path he was following. Even though it was already dark in the city, the shadows he was walking through were darker. And further away, he heard a horrorfying monster roar either in victory or a battle cry. That made the beast within him yearn to join it. Clentching his teeth together, he restrained the urge and bolted down the empty streets and alley ways.

He knew with each step he took, he was getting closer to his gang's headquarters. Sliding to a stop, he looked around to get his bearings. Nodding once, he took off again down an alley way that was a short cut to an entrance. But with each step he took away from the creature's monsterous calls, the more he fought the beast within him. As long as the roars, screeches, shrieks, and yowls still echoed through the air.

As he ran, he misjudged his steps and fell down a manhole. "Gah!" he exclaimed as he fell. Narrowing his eyes even more, he pulled his knees up and let his arms lock straight up. Landing in sewer water, his nose wrinkled in disgust. But atleast he didn't hear those dreaded noises anymore. Nodding, he took off down the tunnel; running in the smelly water.

Leena left the room, leaving the light on behind her. Her stomach growled and she jumped, the noise surprising her in the quiet gloom of the base. She shook her her head, walking into the kitchen which was luckily already lit. Opening the cabinet, Leena removed a bag of carrots, one of the few foods they could produce underground. She took one out, returning the bunch to their proper place on the shelf. 

Munching the crunchy orange stick, she exited the kitchen, staring at the floor the whole time. A thought dashed across her mind. Ben hadn't been to base in a day or so. How unusual for him to not check back. Leena couldn't bear the thought of loosing the friendly boy. He was good in conversation, and a great teammate. Not to mention the best friend anyone could have in such dark times.

Kaina dragged herself out of the sewer. When she was out, she looked at herself. Her pants were drenched in sewer water, as slimy as anyone could imagine. Kaina narrowed her eyes in disgust. "We're turning into people who hide around in sewers, amongst foul slime," she spat.

Kaina walked down the murky shadows of the street, the part where no one should be able to see her. Suddenly, she broke into a run. Paranoid as she was, she wasn't going to take chances of getting torn apart by a monster. Her footsteps fell silent against the pavement covered in thousands of cracks. She hung her head.

((Sure! ^_^ Hey, Wolf, can Leena and Ben have been "together" as in, dating? That would add to the storyline. ^_^ ))

Leena nearly jumped out of her skin when her friend, Karienne tapped on her shoulder. "Yes", she laughed, urning around, her face slightly red, "But please don't sneak up on me!" She was now grinning, but still frightened.

"By the way, have you seen Ben lately?", she asked, slightly cocking her head to the right, "He hasn't been in here for a while." Leena took another bite of her carrot, chewing it slowly and thoughtfully.

A small shadow crouched on the roof of a building. It moved, creeping forward on small, child-sized hands and feet to the edge, then grabbed it and flipped down. She hung in the air a few seconds before swinging her legs and letting go. The sensation of flight lasted but a few heart beats, but it made her smile and giggle quietly.

Jai hit the cround and rolled. Hip, shoulder, up. She stood, her knees bent, prepared to fight...then sighed. Nothing here  but the rats and other night crawlers. Something yipped and whined down the street and the girl fought against, but finally gave into the urge to see what it was and how she could help it.

"I could be doing something constructive right now," She thought. "But this could turn out [cant find word] to us...." Jai grinned and broke into a run.

Silent sigheed and he walked into the HQ, walking silently through the shadows, blending in. He moved like the shadows and he seemed to disappear. Then he heard two of the girls in his group talking about Ben. He drew up close to them so they would hear him. He hung back in the dark though.

 "Ben's dead. He was killed by one of the beasts..." He said quietly to them, hidden in the dark. He smiled slightly, wondering how they would react to his voice. "I found him in the sewers." He said quietly. His voice seemed empty at the last part. as if the sorrow he felt for Ben couldn't make itself known.

Now it was Karienne's turn to jump out of her skin. She placed her hand on her rapidly beating heart. She spun around searching the darkness for the voice but she regonized it so it didn't matter if she could see him or not. "Holy sh-"She cut herself off. Did he say something about dead?

The shock of his words hit her like a wave. Ben was dead. If you could tell Kari would have paled just then. She suddenly felt light headed. "D-did you say, d-dead?"She asked her voice soft. She couldn't beleive. Ben. He was so nice, such a sweet guy. She looked over at Leena expecting her face to pale. She knew they had been going out. She chewed her bottom lip.

Jai rounded the corner, slipped on the wet ground, caught herself, then stood ramrod straight. The source of the sound was dead. A large dog lay on it's side, ribs bare, moving slightly as the hunter ate the insides. Jai gulped and backed back the way she came. The monsters head snapped up and it sniffed the air. A low growl eminated from it's throat as it turned blood red eyes her way. It licked its chops and turned, taking a step toward the girl.

The girl slowed her breathing, calming herself for the chase and/or fight that would follow. She could already feel the adrenaline coursing through her limbs.
