"I'm sure it is," Sablepaw mewed sarcastically, headbutting him on the shoulder gently.

Wolfheart chuckled, stretching his back out. "I think I will watch it. This cat doesn't have much time to run about the forest left."

Limefeather stalked past Poisonfang and started to look for some burdock root. She needed something to keep her occcupied.

Ravenclaw caught Snowdrift's scent and followed it.

Adderpaw laughed, "aw Come on, your not THAT old!" wow, this was more than he usually said in a whole day. he stood and shook his fur, "so, wamt to try and fail again?" he taunted, flexing his muscles.

Snowdrift caught Ravenclaw's scent and for a second, thought she was dreaming. She turned and saw him, as much pain as he put her through, she couldnt help but smile. Suddenly, she realised it was real and composed herself. She didn't scowl, nbut held her head high, acting like a proper Medicine cat.... for once.

Wolfheart smiled and flicked Sablepaw's ear with his tail, "so how about that patrol?" he asked

Wolfheart grinned. "Why don't you go hang out with the other apprentices? Sablepaw and Feralwind are on patrol. Go join them."

Ravenclaw smiled back, heart fluttering slightly in his chest. Why did life have to be so hard? He purred, "Can I join you?"

Adderpaw shook his head, "I'm not like other apprentices, I don't like to goof off and play, it's like I dont belong." He said sadly.

Snowdrift wanted to shout NO! but she just sighed, "If you wish." her voice was cold and unfriendly.

Ravenclaw scowled at her. "I'm not picking either of you," He meowed quietly, "I won't scrifice one for the other."

Wolfheart set his gaze gently on Adderpaw. "Adderpaw," he meowed, "You don't have to goof off and play, but socializing with cats your age is normal. You don't need to be a warrior yet." He quoted his father, " ' When you are an apprentice, spend your time chasing after leaves and playing with friends. It may take longer to achieve your goals, but you will never get the chance to do it again. Opportunity is dressed in mud and looks like work.' " 

He blinked at Adderpaw. "My father told me that, when I was about your age. I never did listen to his advice," He started to leave the training hollow. Just as the tip of his tail disappeared, he called behind him, "Now it's your turn to make that choice."

Sablepaw stopped walking. "Feralwind," she said softly, "I smell Ravenclaw and Snowdrift. Is it normal for warriors and Medicine cats to be around each other, alone, outside of camp?" Curiousity pricked her like a leaf.

Feralwind shrugged, "maybe he's there for protection, there have been a lot of rouges around lately." He wouldn't admit it, but he was just as curious as Sablpaw was.

Snowdrift laughed somewhat viciously, "this way, you will end up losing both of us. I can heal, I am strong enough. You can't be my mate, even if you wanted to be. Sacredheart is the obvious choice, we can never be together, as much as I wish we could. At least if you pick her, you wont lose us both." She turned away, "we both know you will lose me no matter what choice you make." Tears stung her eyes as she padded away from him.

Adderpaw shook his head, "but I'm not like you, I prefer to be alone, I do not fit in with a clan, I'd be a better rouge in my opinion." he pointed out, "I would be fine without ever having a mate, kits, or friends. I could have been a Medicine cat, but I chose not to, because fighting is what I'm good at, it comes naturally to me." He sat back down and stared intently at his mentor. Was it just him, or was Wolfheart small? Or was he just that big? Adderpaw pushed the thought from his mind.

Ravenclaw followed her. "I'd rather loose you both and tear myself to pieces than make you think I love either of you more than the other."

Wolfheart stretched, and answered back. He had been lurking in the shadows. "If you are not like me, then why do you describe me so perfectly? I had been a rogue for a while, and I admit without shame it was a better life for me. Why I haven't gone back is a mistery to me still. Why I stayed here after-" He cut himself off and stared into the distance. "Do you know why I came back, Adderpaw? Has the clan told you? Perhaps not, it was before you were even kitted.."

Sablepaw's ears shot bolt upright. "Their talking about...Mates." Her sightless eyes met Feralwind's urgently. "Perhaps we should check this out."

Feralwind tilted his head, "but Snowdrift is a Medicine cat!" he froze up, "and I don't recomend it, Snowdrift may be small and furry, but she is vicious!" he had learned that the hard way, when he had attacked her herb stock as a young apprentice, and had faced her wrath.

Snowdrift let her head hang low, "I already know you can never love me, so do whatever it takes to make youself happy, I chose this life, and even if at times I regret it, I would never give it up." her tears fell to the ground.

____

Adderpaw tilted his head, "I never listened to the stories, I already told you, I'm not that sociable. Didn't you notice when I first became an apprentice, Sablepaw got the personality to envy, and I got the skill."

Ravenclaw took a step back, feeling more torn than ever. Go after Sacredheart, or comfort Snowdrift? Frustration overtook him.

Wolfheart ignored his comments. "I was a rogue," he started, "I came to the clan after I...Fell in love with one of the clan cats. Everyone jeered at me, and made fun of me, but I stayed because of her..." He shuddered fiercely, "And then she was killed...." 

He met Adderpaw's eyes. His were cold and hard. "Mark my words, ADderpaw. Love is a mistake." And then he stalked out of the training hollow and back to camp without another glance backwards.

Sablepaw shook her head, "And I'm an apprentice. Rules can be broken, Feralwind." She padded away from him and started to listen in, heart racing in her chest. She couldn't believe she was spying, nor that she had just walked away from Feralwind.

Limefeather lurked in the shadows, eyes flashing angrily. She focused them on Ravenclaw, even  though he couldn't see her.

He was putting Snowdrift through the same pain she was going through with  Poisonfang.

Sacredheart pleaded that Ravenclaw wouldn't follow her.

Poisonfang pawed at the water some more.  

Feralwind rolled his eyes, padding after Sablepaw, "but technically, you don't have a mate, no rules broken there!" he whispered in her ear. As soon as he said the words, he half wished he haden't.

Snowdrift turned to face Ravenclaw, "go, now." she said, her voice hostile and eyes burning, "She loves you and I don't want to see her hurt. It's better that way anyway." She unsheathed her claws and pinned back her ears. ((OMG! I FORGOT THE PICTURE OF SNOWDRIFT!!!!! I'll go get it now!!!!!!!))

Adderpaw thought about following Wolfheart, but decided not to. He sat staring at the sky, "StarClan? How could you take her from Wolfheart? Who was she?" he tilted his head, knowing he wouldnt get a reply. He kept his gaze fixed on the sky.

Moonsong sniffed the ground, even though it was dangerous, she was out exploring, and not keeping track of where she was walking. She walked into Wolfheart, "sorry!" she stuttered, she could feel he wasnt in a mood to talk, but she asked anyway, "you okay?"
