With a shrug Meri giggled. "Well, there's that little trinket I got from my secret admirer at London Fashion Week. That was pretty cute." James raised a brow, chuckling despite himself. "You mean the garnet drop necklace with diamond accents that according to the 'secret admirer' who we all know was that very friendly earl is well worth more than your soul? 'Little trinket' my arse." He watched as they looked around the loft, and couldn't help but grin.

"Meri and I are models, part time actors, mermaids, and Merielle is a proffessional dancer on the side of it all. You can think of us as... Multi-purpose entertainment. We also sing. Well, Meri sings, I play... whatever instrument she asks me to play for her." It was Meri's turn to use the sarcasm, looking right at him as she stood. "And by that he means that he has a natural gift for anything with strings or a mouth piece. I'll make a list. He plays piano, viola, violin, cello, harp, lute, lyre, panflutes, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, french horn, trumpet, trombone, every kind of drum, every kind of guitar, mandolin, dolcimer, sitar... Am I forgetting something?"

He laughed, nodding. "Tuba, baritone, the variations of sax and clarinet, basoon, hurdy gerdy, bagpipes, accordion, standing harp and tambourine." Giving a huff Merielle rolled her eyes, rolling off the couch as well. "Oh, please forgive me for leaving out tambourine."

((School has officially started. I'm not eighteen yet which means my father still rules me and I have limits now. I can get on every after noon for a few hours and more on the weekends. So if I don't post thats why. Jeesh, I never seem to be on though.))

Jace cracked a smirk as they named off the many instruments James could play, bobbing his head to each new one listed. "I can't play any of them except guitar, which makes me feel like some sort of hobo compared to a king." He mused, propping one hand under his head. "Though I will admit I can play well." He chose to ignore Faythe's comment of "More then well." Perhaps you can perform one day, I'd love to see it." He winked at Meri. He did bristle at little at the admirer quip and decided to keep a bit more of an ear for that. If this person decided to show up one day, he grinned almost evilly, he would be taken care of. Though his new friends might not like it much, they could not take the years of being on the wrong side of the law out of him, or Faythe.

Speaking of his partner, he eyed her for a second, not liking the look of almost cold fury radiating in her eyes and opened his mouth to ask what was wrong. At the same instant she muttered a lame excuse to leave and bolted out the door. Jace sighed sofltly "Don't mind her, yet again." He seemed to be saying that a lot. "Somethings...come hard for her. Such as all of this." He waved his hand about the room. "Don't witch her again I think it spooked her." He chirped at Meri, again grinning to show it was only meant as a joke. "Who's the mermaid?" He asked suddenly, trying to change subjects, and the fact that he had heard that spiked his curiosity. 

They watched silently as Faythe walked out, sighing in almost perfect unison. James looked a little let down, but shrugged it off. "Maybe she just needs a little space. I don't want to push her or anything." With a nod Merielle grinned. "If you really mean that, all you need to do is ask. We love putting on little performances at odd hours." At the mermaid comment they both chuckled, and pointed at each other. "Them." This time the unison was complete, and sent the pair into a fit of laughter. Meri cut it by kicking James in the shin, causing him to straighten up. "We both are. It's something that helps clear the mind. Being underwater, weightless, powerful, and free. It creates its own magick, its own illusion."

Sighing Meri nodded, looking a little lost in thought. "It's true. For others seeing us is a way to help them escape. I think it helps them believe in magick, if only for a little while. After all, seeing is believing." A slight heaviness weighed on her heart, but she shook it off with a cheery smile. "Well, I want to be a proper hostess. Is there anything I can get you? A drink? Something to munch on? Don't make me go European and tie you to a chair so I can shove unnecessary amount of home-cooked food down your throat."

Something about their behavior around each other, so care free and weightless made Jace feel at ease with the world. As of there was at least some good relationships in the world. Think of his own and Faythe's, he guessed that James and Meri's made up for their own losses. Finally he pulled away from his thoughts as they burst into laughter, lips twitching in a half smirk at the thought of seeing them in mermaid costumes. It was quite appealing really. "I'd rather not be tied down thank you very much." He mused loftily. "I do have a little pride left." He made a scrunched up face. He really hoped Faythe would return soon and accept these two's open friendship. If not then he'd find her and drag her snarling behind back, ignoring the many bruises and cuts along the way. It was so rare to find anyone that accepted them for who they were. "Do you have coke by any chance?"? He asked, wondering when the last time he'd had a fizzing drink without having stolen it. Why waste the money?

He rethought the comments of mermaids and sighed in wonder. It was amazing that people could become things out of legend, people completely different then what they actually were and throw their past behind them for a moment to be free and happy. Though he would not try it, something about water tended to freak him out. "Magic, theres so little left in this world of darkness and pain. It wonderful to see some people still have it." He murmured softly, looking off into space.

Meri noted his body relaxing, loosing itself in the happiness that surrounded him. Phase 1 of plan Make a New Friend was complete. He was comfortable and at ease in their home, always a sign of friendliness and warm. "Ah, dignity. James lost his long ago when I made him play dress-up with me." Giggling she wiggled her eyebrows, causing James to blush rather crossly. He ignored the jab, though now felt a little more calm. This was, after all, his territory. What male didn't feel right in the safety of his own home. At Jace's request Merielle jumped, glad to have something to do. It was her one great joy to have people to serve and help, and the task made her feel usefull, if only a little.

Jace's comment made James quiet, content to just muse on his thoughts for a little while. "Indeed. If there's one thing my dear Merielle has in great supply it's magick. We all saw it when she was young, maybe too young to be so blessed. She has a good heart, a beautiful soul. It was the will of the goddess' that she have an outside to match, and talent beyond mortal reckoning. Magick is in her dance, her song, her laughter and her voice. She commands it with a wink and a whisper. I'm lucky I was chosen to help her." Merielle entered just as James went silent, her smile stretching.

"it's good to have people over. Really. Here you go." She handed him his coke, in a delicate crystal gl*censored* with icecubes tinkling against the inside. "I couldn't find any of our old rootbeer mugs, but I figured this would do just as well. So, what were you boys talking about?"
