Chris played with eggs, only eating a bit of them. He watching the Hansons. Zane at slowly as well, and Charlie just ate his ceral with no milk. Chris noticed something funny about Jake.

"Hey, don't his eyes seem awfully red? Like he has been crying?"

"I wonder if he really does sleep at night. He is always so...still. It seems impossbile that even a sleeping person could be so still." Charlie commented. 

"I don't know. He's the type that would never threaten his physical health." Charlie said quietly. 

"I wonder if he's hiding something." Chris said. 

Chris looked at the map in the front of the breakfast hall glumly. They had to go the docks to get their lesson. 

"Well, we better go." He said, seeing that Charlie and Zane had dissapeared into the throng of people. 

Chris groggily walked toward the docks, where a hyper looking man stood next to 2 lasers. "Hello! Chris and Kris! There are your lasers! We are gonna learn how to sail today!"

Chris rolled his eyes. What was this guy on? 

"Ok so...." The man went on to explain the basics of sailing, and then pushed Chris into a boat. 

"Wait but Ive never-"

"Don't worry! You will be fine!" The man said, and pushed Chris away from the dock, and Chris kinda freaked out. He was about to crash, and then he grabbed the tiller, and went out of the docks, crashing into a peir. He finally made it out onto the open water, where boats whizzed by. 

Kris was pushed into her own laser, and off she went. She pulled up beside Chris.

"You okay?" she yelled over the noise. 

"I-I don't kno-" The boat went over, and Chris leaped over the side, and hit the centerboard, and fell into the water. He somehow managed to right the boat, and then saw Charlie and Zane not to far away, smiling and waving. He got back up into the boat, and tightened his sail. He wasn't ready for it, but his boat took off, and he drove it in a reckless kind of way, but he was moving faster than most people. "What do I do?" He screamed. Charlie shouted, "SAIL!"

"Oh, real helpful." Chris muttered.  

Kris pulled up beside him and tried to keep pace with him.

"Just keep doing what you are now," she yelled. "It's good!" 

"Thanks, but I think that I might-" The boat went over yet again. He did the walkover this time, copying what he saw others doing. Then he saw in the boat, wet and tired. He saw Jake staring at him.

Suddenly, a man blew a whistle 3 times.

"THREE MINUTES TILL START!" He yelled.

"Till what?" Chris asked.

"Till the race!" Charlie shouted, nearing the starting line. Chris tacked the boat, and followed him. 

Chris just tried not to hit anyone, but steering was slightly easy. He got right up to the start line, following Charlie. The course was simple, 3 times to a bouy and back. The whistler called out 30 seconds, and then the race started.

The first few seconds were full of crashes, but soon the race layed out. Chris wasn't paying attention to where he was, but then he looking back to find that he was ahead of Charlie, and behind Zane. Jake and Lucy were of corse in the front. He tried to find Kris.
