Prologue:

Fourteen year old Macy slipped into the yard that now was home to her mother, father and her five year old twin sister, Rachel. The girl was holding a bouquet of wild flowers she had picked earlier in the day. It now was getting dark but, Macy trudged in her rainboots that were a size too big to the two large head stones that over shadowed a very small one. When she should have stepped on solid ground of the graves, she started to plunge into the graves. Those poorly dug holes into her parent's graves welcome welcome the last daughters death. Macy looked up to see three dirty figures, the two towering over the one with her face. As she took her last breath,she felt dirt come into her face and a whispering in her own voice.
"You will come come back, dear sister. Then, you will be with us forever."

Plot:

It new phenomenon is awakening. The undead walk among us but it's not like we can't tell. First, they look totally different. There are three species, Zombies, Vampyres and Crypts. Zombies are pale gray, and have black, shifty eyes. All but, that, they look like stiff humans. Vampyres are pale, perfect-looking with eyes that change with mood. Even though superstition says, the do not drink blood, only of a being that does not exist but, mistakes have happened. They drink the real 'Water Of Youth'. Crypts are huge and muscular zombie-almost-look-alikes. An adult can take take down a three story building just by barely punching it. They age almost like human, reaching adulthood at thirty. Aging is the biggest difference between Crypts and Zombies.

Alexi walked home slowly, her eyes a dark royal blue with a greenish tint to them. She felt calm and happy as she walked home. Today had been good. People had talked to her, and she'd been able to act like a normal human. Sometimes, she had a hard time connecting with humans.

Claudia eased her TransAm along at a fair speed fast enough to move along the streets in less than twenty minutes but, slow enough to gaze upon the streets to look for her now hefty brother. Raf had come back from the dead and kept running from her day after day, keeping major space between them and even skipped school to be away from her. Claudia had begun to worry. She past many kids, alive and undead but, none Raf. She sped home only to be greeted by her undead friend that used to be Raf's best friend, Esther. She now lived with her and usaully hid at the house rather than go to school. "It happened. Agian," She reported.
"Crap."

Alexi saw Raf's sister on a TransAm, probably looking for him again. SHe'd noticed that Raf had been skipping school, and she understood now. I woudn't want to be around people if I could hurt them like that...I hope he's okay.

Alexi could feel her eyes changing color again. She imagined they were a light pink with orange-yellow in them. She was feeling like those colors - slightly afraid for Raf, and unsettled. SHe wondered if she should really like him, but she couldn't help it.
