Zatch ran down stairs, tripping clumsily over the tiny steps. "So far," he grumbled to his brother, "Japan is the worst place I've lived. Baka!"

The word for 'stupid' or 'idiot' hung in the air, and Kou had an akward feeling it was directed at him. "Hey, it's not my fault you followed me onto the plane. You didn't have to come."

Zatch chuckled. "What, and miss my big brother?" He paused, slipping on his shoes and said in near perfect English, "What were we here for again?"

Kou rolled his eyes. "I'm finding L."

"Your stupid. You'll never find him in the city."

"Heh," Kou chuckled to himself, tossing his crimson hair out of his eyes. "I just hope he'll remember me. He taught me to think like him, he's bound to be somewhere. Trust me, I'll tell you when I see the building."

Zatch rolled his eyes. "And what about this Kira guy?"

"Just worry about your cl*censored*es," Kou tossed his brother a bag filled with paper and a Japanese text book. The would go their seprate ways, then meet eachother later. "Call me while you're in lunch, alright. I tihnk I'll have found L by then."

Zatch only sneered, "Yeah, sure. Oh," he called as he opened the front door. "Good luck."

L sighed, at a loss. "Do you think I should have 12, or 13 sugar cubes?" he asked himself out loud. He paused, as if allowing someone to answer "You're right. Fifteen it is," he said, popping seven into his mouth at once.

He sat in his chair, looking at the short cake that had just been placed at his side. What a dangerous idea, he thought.

Kou walked along the streets, not as buisy as he had imagined them. The citizens where still putting on their suits before walking and driving to their destinations. He breifly wondered if he had woken up Zatch too early in his eagerness to find his old mentor, but then again, he probably would have never gotten up to his alarm or worse, hurt himself shutting it off. It would have been just like him, too, the careless git. Kou almost laughed as he thought, Maybe he's Kira.

The teen wandered the streets rather aimlessly, letting his feelings guide the way. After about an hour, his feet began to hurt and relized that he'd been walking in circles. Yes, he'd seen that building before, hadn't he? His stomach flipped. Everything was starting to look the same. He was just getting the hang of learning Japanese, too, not to mention reading it. Feeling rather hopeless, he ducked into one of the nearest buildings.

Kou's heart skipped a beat, two, before it continued. He had found exactly the building he had been looking for. It was a sort of deserted hotel, but sleek and modernized. Kou smiled simply saying under his breath, "Found, you, L."

The teen walked over to the abandoned front desk were all the computer parts were just props, prey for onr in the upper corner of the celing. Kou tapped on the camra lense, waiting for whoever was inside to see him and let his through the secret doors. After a seccond he said, "Hey, L, ya' remember me?" He let out a little chuckle.

"You're probably stuffing your face with cake," Kou relized aloud as he jumped off the desk and waited for somebody else to show up. It was... lonely. He tapped his foot impatiently, and began to wonder where Kira was, or who it may be. Nobody he knew, that's for sure. He fidgetted a little more, hoping L would see some hidden logic that he didn't, just like he always had.

Zatch jump, nearly dropping his rext book. He had only moved here last week, and wasn't quite adjusted to any of it- the language, the culture, let alone the people's names. "Er," Zatch turned around, his black hair hitting his face in the wind. "It's okay, Katsu-chan."

At least, he hoped that was her name. This was only his seccond day of cl*censored*es. The suffix 'chan' could be added to a girl's name as a sign of friendship in Japan, even though Zatch and his brother usually avoided these to prevent further confusion. Zatch shrugged the feeling off, however, decided that he better be polite until he knew his way around the country more.
