"Oh, hello Quailfoot! We're going hunting. Want to join us?" Cheetahwid asked. Grayheart just stood there, staring at Quailfoot.

Panthergaze, smiled towards Hawkmask, glad to see the she-cat again that allowed him to enter the clan camp. He owed her, for allowing this new future for him and Luoke. "Thank you Hawkmask," He meowed, smiling slightly. He turned his attention back to Brightleaf, listening to her story. Blinking in sympathy, he flicked her shoulder with his tail. "Thats awful, that a cat would hurt so many." He muttered, closing his eyes and breathing in the camp scent. "So you were born in a clan, just not this one." He mused, opening his eyes back and looking at her. "It's normal I guess to miss what you were born to. I guess I will never really feel comfortable in Iceclan, being used to living alone and fending for myself, and being able to go where I wanted when I wanted." He looked off into the distance. "But perhaps we're here now because this is our destiny." Something about his words seemed to ring true in his heart. "I was born far from here, along with my littermates." He flinched. "A fox killed my mother, but she was always weak. My sister was killed by it was well. Amber, my youngest sibling and I were spared. She died, a few moons later leaving me alone. Done nothing but travel since." He shrugged as if it were nothing. "Now what is this vigil Hawkmask spoke of?" He asked curiously.

Sunny gasped for a breath. Her beautifully golden coat was covered in dirt and grime. "Why did they leave?" She moaned. "What'll I do?" A bright idea came to her. She thought of what Luna had said that happened to Gillian. 'I think he ran off to be a wildcat! The new tom, puzzle, was chased from the forest by a cat he said that looked like me!' "That's what I'll do! I'll find Gillian!"

Snowkit jumped about happily and padded around the camp. His adopted mother not knowing where he was. Purring he explored the camp and hid from warriors not wanting to be brought towards the nursery. Purring with delight he kept to his kitten curiosity.

Having bounded down from the Highrock, Eaglestar silently listened to Brightleaf. Surprise filled the pale leader as she realized that her clan had gotten so large that she didn’t even know how her warriors felt. Never would Eaglestar have guessed that Brightleaf missed CaveClan. Something has to be done about Hawkstar, she thought to herself. Her ears flicked forward when Panthergaze mused about vigil. Padding up to the two cats, her warriors, Eaglestar meowed, “Vigil is the honor that warriors perform the night that their warrior name is given. They will sit in the center of camp and say not a single mew.” With a flare of compa.ssion ignited in her eyes as she remembered her own vigil. “Unless, an attack comes, then you would warn us all and show your loyalty by fighting against the enemy,” she softly informed. I can’t remember a single attack coming on the night of a vigil. Flicking her eyes up to StarClan she mused, are you really protecting us? Even in these times of hardship? Her crimson eyes darted back to Panthergaze, “So, young warrior, are you ready to be silent? Are you ready for the long, cold night?” Patchpelt’s emerald eyes grew concerned as she looked at Shadowpaw. He looks so warn, she thought, and we haven’t even started. Brushing her tail along his shoulder as they trotted into the forest, heading for Basking Rocks, Patchpelt hoped that her sign of comfort would give him strength. Startled by Rainfeather’s silent approach, the calico she-cat mewed excitedly, “You can teach me on the way, but you have to teach Shadowpaw too.” With an excited glance at her apprentice, she hoped that this new hunting move would brighten him. “I want us to get moving tonight,” she whispered to Rainfeather, secretively, “because the attacks are happening faster than StarClan said.” I really hope that Rainfeather agrees because she will help sway to the other cats, being that she is an older warrior. “I know that this is all too fast,” Patchpelt intercepted before the warrior could argue, “but you have to understand. The faster we find out what these dreams mean the better.” Graypaw, tired from the long day, lagged behind the other cats. At least Littlepaw and Lostfoot are behind me. I won’t look like a totally helpless kit, he thought. His deep gray coat was stark against the white snow and transparent slush. Shivering from the icy partials that wedged between his toes, Graypaw desperately wanted to go home. I want to go back to the sandy dens that mother always found for us. I want to hear the roar of the bitter water. “Hear the sound, Graypaw! Feel the sand!” Looking around, Graypaw was suddenly surrounded by pale wheat colored sand, spanning for dunes, except one side. To his left the great expanse of the bitter water roared. Sea foam leapt into the air where the water crashed against a great big boulder. The smell of sea salt filled his nostrils, and the tangy taste of the sea filled his mouth, which was now watering with the idea of fish. “Who are you?” he yowled to be heard over the thunder of the waves. Deep, dark clouds were forming over the turbulent bitter water, and Graypaw scented a storm. “No!” He cried, “I’m scared!” A surrounding presence dispelled his unease and filled him with peace. “Don’t be afraid, Graypaw.” The deep raspy voice of the cat made his look back and forth, trying in vain to see him. I know this is a tom, but who? He wondered. “Have no fear, you will go home.” With a desperate cry, Graypaw exclaimed, “But I am afraid! I am afraid that I won’t know the way back!” The memory of the horrid journey to IceClan filled his mind. “Don’t be a foolish kit, Graypaw, just follow your paw step,” the voice meowed over the crashing waves. “They will lead the way, and I will be with you.” His yellow eyes filled with worry, “But I don’t even know who you are!” Before him a hazy red form appeared, as Graypaw looked harder, he noticed it was becoming the shape of a cat. “Ashfoot?” he considered. Then with more surety Graypaw yowled, “Ashfoot!” The brilliant red tom dipped his head, “Don’t be afraid, Graypaw. Just follow your paw steps home… Blinking, Graypaw realized that he had had a dream just then. No, a vision? Shaking his head, Graypaw dashed forward to catch up with the other cats. It felt so real. As if to prove just how real, he licked his lips and the taste of sea salt lingered. His yellow eyes widened. Should I tell them now? Or later? But a different question lurked, will I really know the way home?

Lostfoot stopped and stood where he was looking at Graypaw. "Hm? Are you alright? You look like a deer caught by a towleg monster." looking concerned he stood beside Graypaw. Worried the young apprentice was sick and in need of some help.

With the squeak of a surprised kit, Graypaw fluffed up with embarra.ssment. Looking up at Lostfoot, whose face was filled with concern, Graypaw shivered at her comment. Like a deer caught by a monster, with an inner sadistic chuckle, he thought, that’s happened too often lately. “I-I am alright,” he stuttered. “I just had an odd…” Graypaw stopped, shifting his yellow gaze to the ground, because he didn’t know what to say. He wanted to tell a cat, but he didn’t know who. I will wait until we are all together under the Basking Rocks. Lifting his eyes once more, he stared Lostfoot in the eyes with a prouder stance. “Later, I will tell all of the cats when we get to the Basking Rocks.” And, with that, Graypaw stalked off after the rest of the group. I can’t wait until I get to tell them all I had my second dream! Meanwhile, Redpaw glowered at Hawkmask. He had seen the way she pawed after Panthergaze. And that tom better have some sense in his loner mind! Hawkmask is a feather heart, I’m surprised she can catch prey for the clan. His fiery umber eyes seethed with suppressed menace. “I guess,” he ground out, as if the words were distasteful. “Just don’t keep me waiting; I do not want to stop all because of your tender paws.” Redpaw did not want to go on this patrol, but it sure beat sitting around camp; were he could only attack Bluepaw for entertainment. I wish Falconwing would take me on a patrol, not this weak cat. Patchpelt purred with delight when the Basking Rocks loomed before her dark and slush covered. Pale, pale rays of early dawn peeked through the snow clouds. I hope we can get out of here before the patrol comes, I don’t want us to get turned back, she thought desperately. I’ll just warn them all that we are leaving now, and we will be off. Finding a semi-dry spot beneath an overhang under the Basking Rocks, Patchpelt sat down, and curled her tail around her forepaws. Looking at the cats around her, who were also finding semi-dry spots, her emerald eyes shone with hope. Oh, StarClan, give us the guidance we need to save our clan. “Cats around me, listen carefully,” she began quickly, “StarClan has chosen us to save IceClan, and I don’t know about the other clans but they don’t matter right now. We have to save our leader, queens, warriors, kits, and elders.” Pinning each with a stare as she spoke, Patchpelt hoped that they were feeling the sense of urgency that she was. “I want us-” “Wait!” Graypaw cried out. “I need to tell you something.” Bounding to his paws, the smoky tom raced to the front next to Patchpelt, and turned to look at all the cats. With a gulp, Graypaw meowed, “I’ve had another dream.” “Another one,” Patchpelt asked with relief in her voice. This can only mean I’m making the right choice to move tonight! “Go on.” “Well, I, um, I was just suddenly in my birth place, where Bluepaw, Redpaw, and I came from.” He mewed, knowing that he made no sense but continued anyway, “Ashfoot told me, well he came to me in this vision, and told me that I needed to go home, but I’m to bring you too!” He rushed the last part, hoping that the clan, who he had come to know and love, didn’t think he was abandoning him. “I-I do not know if it is safe there…because, um, my father…he is a vicious cat, and he does not know about StarClan…I’m just telling you my dream.” Looking down at the ground, Graypaw was suddenly nervous. What will they think, will they want to chase me away?

Falconwing flicked her ears in curiosity as Hawkmask spoke to Redpaw, wondering how well her apprentice would take the offer of a she-cat to go on patrol. She'd noticed the way he looked at she-cats in itched to claw his ears to put some sense into his head. Instead she took the harder route and tried to gain his trust and respect. Sometimes thought it almost seemed as if her apprentice just listened to her so he could become a warrior, not paying any heed of the cat that was training him. He's a pain in the tail sure, but he's my pain in the tail. She thought happily, a small smile gracing her muzzle. I would not have it any other way. Seeing though that Redpaw was becoming a little haughty towards Hawkmask she deiced to intervene. Padding over, she gave Redpaw a scathing look, promising duty of cleaning the elders den if he did not behave. "Terribly sorry about my apprentice lack of respect Hawkmask, i'm working teaching him some but the lessons don't stick very well. I'll take him on a patrol." Yeah and then we're going to have a little humility lesson. She thought, wondering what would happen if he said something like that to Rainfeather or Eaglestar, they'd probably claw his fur out. "Come along Redpaw." She meowed curtly, flicking his ears with her tail. After they were out of the camp, she stopped and shot him a disappointed look. "I know you do not like the fact that she-cats hunt and fight, and believe they should only bear kits. But remember that that is the way we do things here, even if you do not like it." She meowed coldly, looking down at him as if he were a kit. "If you have a problem with someone come and find me and I will sort it out. Until then you respect your superiors and keep your sharp tongue to yourself or only aim it at me. I can take it." Finally she sighed, hating to be hard on him. "Your a good apprentice Redpaw, and a good cat." She meowed finally, nudging his shoulder. "I will not try to change you, but I will try and teach you to control yourself. Now lets patrol then we'll see about some battle training." ((I'll post Shadowpaw's in a moment.))

Redpaw’s tail-tip twitched unhappily as he stared Hawkmask down. He didn’t bare his fangs like he wanted to, but his claws dug into the frozen earth. The crunch of snow made Redpaw settle his back fur and look over his shoulder. What he saw made him shameful. His mentor was stalking towards them, and he knew that she was not happy. When her stern blue eyes locked onto his umber ones, Redpaw clearly read his c*censored*s for the next moon. Uh, cleaning the elders den? Come on, Falconwing’s yet to make me do that, but I think I really pulled the wrong tail this time. His mentor’s fluffy calico tail tickled his ears in her familiar signal to follow. With an enormous sigh, Redpaw ambled to his paws. Clear of all the other cats, Redpaw was shocked when Falconwing gave him a disapproving look. It was stronger than any other she had given him. But, what did I do wrong? he wondered helplessly. Though, as she spoke, Redpaw began to understand. I realized that the two of them would never see things the same. Falconwing admired her she-cat warriors while he looked down on them, with an exception; Falconwing. He adored his mentor, and Redpaw shrank back when Falconwing told him he could openly criticize her. I would never! He told himself desperately, not now. Not after all that she has taught me. “You’re a good apprentice Redpaw, and a good cat.” She told him, as she nudged his shoulder. “I will not try to change you, but I will try and teach you to control yourself. Now let’s patrol then we'll see about some battle training.” Redpaw stared intently on the ground. His eyes had watered up, and he was not about to show that to any she-cat, even his mentor, who he trusted most out of any cat in the clan. Redpaw just wasn’t about to show his weaknesses. He didn’t mind Falconwing nagging about his fighting or hunting techniques, Redpaw admired that, because he could fix those. But to show any cat what his feelings were, to let another so close that he held no secrets. No, I’m not ready for that. Biting his tongue in hopes of dashing the tears, Redpaw meowed, a bit too roughly, “Enough yowling, I’m waiting for you to show me the way!” He looked up in frustration. Redpaw didn’t want to hurt her, but his words were as harsh a thorn in the paw, but he knew that it would at least keep her from pawing with his emotions. But it doesn't make me feel any better, he thought defeatedly. “Err- I mean, show me where to go, please, Falconwing.”

Hawkmask padded through the trees. Her patrol just coming. "Whew...thank Starclan all is going well so far." looking up to the stars she padded to the warriors den. "I really miss you father. I hope you never leave us. We need you." Lostfoot listened to Graypaw and smiled. "We should go there. And don't worry about you're father...we have dealt with the vicious leader of Caveclan Hawkstar." looking determined but with a hint of humor at his former leader looking at him in both shock and pure anguish. "Lets just say when he saw me...I think he thought he was seeing a cat of Starclan."

Shadowpaw let his head droop so his eyes were not visible to any of the surrounding cats. He refused to let them, particularly Patchpelt who held so much faith in their warrior ancestors, that he was beginning to doubt Starclan. They've done nothing that I can see to help any of our clan in the hard times, and have not seemed to show any sadness that so many cats have been killed. Shutting his eyes tightly, he hated that he was being as weak as he was. Shutting down in these times of danger when the clan needed him most, doubting himself and everyone around him. I'm being mouse-brained. He thought bitterly. "That you are brother." Shadowpaw tried not to jump at the tiny, yet wise voice. Flicking only his eyes over, Lostkit sat beside of him with his head held high and blue eyes looking forward intently. "Starclan do not hold the power you always seem to think we do. We can no more stop the two-legs then you can. But we will guide you and make sure you know you are never alone." Finally the kit looked at him, and Shadowpaw shrank back at the bold stare. "I feel so useless though Lostkit." He whispered, so low he wondered if his brother had heard. "Then suck up your fear and listen to these other cats. They were picked for a reason, as were you." A small smile played on Lostkit's muzzle. "Have faith Shadowpaw, and everything will turn out well. Until then, do not expect any dreams. We cannot have a half loyal cat leading." His words struck Shadowpaw like a blow from a badger, and the young apprentice straightened his shoulders and listened to the other cats. That I will do Lostkit. Falconwing tried not to let Redpaw know that she could see the indecision in his eyes. Perhaps one day I will break that barrier between us Redpaw, and show you that no matter how you feel you can talk to me. But clearly that day is not today, and probably not for moons. “Enough yowling, I’m waiting for you to show me the way!” Her whiskers twitched in humor, glad to have the old Redpaw back. Cuffing his ear lightly, Falconwing stood and started into the forest towards the training ground. "Cheeky apprentice." She mused over her shoulder. Once at the training grounds, the deputy looked intently at Redpaw. "We were working on your speed last time, a offensive move. Today I want you to defend yourself." She padded into the center of the clearing. "The most vulnerable place on you is your throat, though a warrior will never go there in fear of a killing blow." A least most of the time, she thought bitterly. "And your underbelly. A good hit there and your practically rendered useless. Now, I'm going to try and flip your paws out from under you so I can get a good blow to your underside. Don't let me." She leap forward swiftly, aiming a well aimed blow towards his right front paw. Panthergaze padded back into camp after a hunting patrol, though he felt about useless at the second. He'd only been able to catch a small mouse, and hoped no cat had noticed. But what was weird was that there was no other prey in sight. Is that why the cats are so anxious? He thought, placing the prey on the fresh-kill pile. He thought about visiting Luoke, but after noticing him asleep, paw splayed out in a awkward angle Panthergaze decided to rest himself before this so called vigil. Slinking into the warriors den, where he'd been instructed to sleep, his eyes widened at all the nests and the fact that everyone was right beside each other. Wonderful, now where do I make a nest at? He thought, glad when Hawkmask padded in. "I really miss you father. I hope you never leave us. We need you." He tipped his head to the side, wondering who she was talking to. "Is everything alright?" He asked curiously, sitting down between two nests and trying not to mess up another with his tail.

Hawkmask jumped a bit and looked at Panthergaze in shock. "O-oh! I'm sorry. I was talking aloud again wasn't I?" sighing she looked at all the nests. "Would you like some help?" she asked obviously trying to avoid answering the question she had been asked.

))Just so you guys know, FireClan live on a shallow river that is very wide, and they live on it... meaning that on clumps of stones is where they build there nests. The stones are far apart too... That is why Rainfeather can leap like this, because the Fireclan cats leap from stone to stone, giving her the natural Fireclan ability..(( Rainfeather was taken by surprise but the calico warrior, "Yes I can.... you tell me when, but please I don't need this getting out to the other cats. FireClan cats have a natural leaping talent, .." She flicked her tail dismisivley, she couldn't stand to watch all the Cats in her Clan feel uncomfortable around her because she hunts like a FireClan cat. "If... If the twolegs tear down this territory for the Clans..." Rainfeather meowed Changing the subject, "Don't you think we will have to leave?" We will have to leave... That... The words that came out of her mouth spooked her, I don't want to leave! She argued with herself. Rainfeather stood there spooked by Graypaw's sudden vision, "Right," she meowed, trying to stop her voice from shaking. "Uh.. I agree with Lostfoot. We should go there..."
