When a very angry yowl sounded from behind him, Firtail fluffed up and spun around in a lethal display of power. He was about to bare his fangs in defense but stopped. A small, white tom-kit stood before him. What a little thing to make so much noise, he thought. Settling back down, Firtail introduced himself, "I am Firtail, new to IceClan. I am happy to meet you."

Glancing at Duskkit, Sunkit, and back to Snowkit, Firtail cocked his head to the side. None of them looked alike, yet he spoke of kin. How odd, he thought. Yet Firtail knew of different looks. He had been the largest tom in TreeClan and none of the cats would let him forget that.

How could Firtail be so big?

No tom is built like that in this clan, he must be a half-clan cat.

Those taunts had hurt him on emotional levels to the point where he almost couldn't handle it. Twigstar had notice though, and told him about his relations. He was a born TreeClan cat, but an IceClan by heart and blood. With a crocked smile, Firtail meowed, "You sure are tough, huh? Protecting your littermates."

Mistsoul lead them to the ledge, just below Eaglestar's den, and meowed, "Eaglestar's den is right up there. I will leave you be now."

Curious as any cat would be, Mistsoul found it hard to leave, but she hadn't been included. She was no longer medicine cat, so she needed to learn to mind her own business. Even if her paws itched to turn back and listen in on them. No, I won't do it.

Sweet one, go to the medicine den and comfort Larkpaw and Rosepaw. They will need it.

Confused, Mistsoul pushed for an answer as to why, but her normally talkative companion remained silent. Trotting to the deep den in the back, Mitsoul curled up with Larkpaw and Rosepaw. Licking their heads, she purred. Her thoughts wondered, I wonder what is going on.
