Enjoying the sweet moment with Hawkmask, Firtail was about to make another flirtatious remark when a new pitch-black tom cat walked between them. Close enough that he rubbed Firtail’s fur the wrong way. His aquamarine eyes widened in irritation as he dug his claws into the ground and shivered. Glancing maliciously at the tom, who had sat down directly between him and Hawkmask, Firtail aggressively went to work grooming his fur back into the correct direction. Did I mistake Hawkmask as a single she-cat, was I wrong? Is she with this tom? The deep throated tom meowed “Oh, sorry, did I bump you?” Firtail knew that he had stepped on some claws. Oops, wrong she-cat to flirt with I think. Firtail knew that he could back down gracefully from this. He had enough pride to walk away from a she-cat that wasn’t an easy catch, and obviously Hawkmask would take more work than he had originally thought.
But what irked him the most was when Panthergaze disrespectfully asked for his name. I’ve seen him around the Gatherings. He should know by now! Neck fur bristling slightly, Firtail glared at the tom, but smirked when Blazewing put him in his place. When Haskmask, ever so politely, she is such a sweet she-cat, excused herself and Panthergaze, Firtail couldn’t help but stick his tongue out at the retreating tom’s back. “Piece of…” Firtail stopped and spared a glance at the kits, then carefully continued, “Mouse looks good, over there. You see it? Over there on the fresh-kill pile.”
Sighing with relief that he hadn’t spoken foully in front of the kits, Firtail looked down at them with excited eyes. I won’t let that piece of mouse dung wreck my day. “I’ll race you over to it!” the tabby tom yowled happily, and bounded in short strides over to the pile; making sure that he didn’t get too far ahead, so that one of the kits could win.
OoC: Eklispe, every time you call Firtail a ginger tom a giggle because I don't see him as ginger. I think of Redstorm, Redpaw, or Blazewing as ginger cats. Firestar too. Lol, I think of him as a tabby. o3o
