Casey longed for a friend, someone to share her joy with. She had friends, but she longed for an animal friend. She looked around and saw a bright pink and blue egg. She picked it up, and looked at it blankly. Then she sat down and waited for it to hatch.

When she finally ruch the newly rebuilt Carvahall, she walked into a small shop. "what can I do for you?" the clerk asked. She handed him the blue rock. "Can you tell me what its worth?" She asked. "Sorry, but thats not worth anything. its a blue rock, did you expect it to be worth 20,000 crowns?" The clerk laughed. She grabbed the rock and stormed away, away from the shop, away from carvahall. She didnt get rid of the blue rock, though. Something drew her to it.

Casey continued to stare at the rock, and it began to shake. Casey stared at it waiting for the wonderful moment when it hatches. The egg cracked, and out came a beautiful pink dragon with light blue swirls and light blue crystals coming out of it's back. Casey gasped. Then she smiled and said, "I'll name you Crystal." she said as she hugged it.

"I know your special," she murmured to the rock, "I think ill keep you with me," she said then smiled at it. It shook in response. She blinked at it. This couldnt be a rock, now could it. A small blue leg cracked out of the rock. No, scratch that, egg. The shell crackedthe rest of the way and out came a small blue dragon. She pet it, and thenher hand burned. She pulled it away in shock, and the the Gedwey ignasia on it. "Ill call you Saphira," She murmured to it, handing her a peice of meat out of her pack. Saphira grumbled in response.

Casey hugged Crystal even tighter, and she loved it so dearly. She would never let anything bad happen to it. She walked to the rock and sat down.

Saphira flapped her little blue wings, unable to fly as yet. She picked up Saphira, and walked for a long time. The sunbegan to set. in the distance she could see another person, hugginh somethiing. She walked over. "Hello, she said, shocked to find her hugging a dragon. Saphira Jumped out of her hands, greeting the dragon that was being hugged. Then, she ran back to her, her eyes seemed to beg for more meat, and was delighted when she handed her another peice.

Crystal tried to fly, but couldn't. Casey smiled at the girl. Crystal then went up to Saphira and greeted her back.

Saphira snapped up the peice of meat hungerly, and seemed to beg for even more. "You mst be hungry," She murmured, giving her yet another peice. She also gave a peice to Crystal, before lighting a fire and roasting a peice for herself. "Want some?" she asked.

Crystal happily ate the meat. She licked the girl, then went back to Casey.

One week later... Saphira finally learned to fly, but wasnt big enough for Ash to ride her. She hunts on her own now. Ash has traveled with Casey and crystal. Meanwhile, in Farthen Dur, Sage and tarn were dealing with other matters. Ash also bought a bow, and somearrows. Ash released the arrow, hitting a small deer. She Cut it up, and stored it in her pack after roasting it.

Crystal was also able to fly, and she happily flew in the air. Casey watched as Crystal flew gracefully.

Saphira joined Crystal in the sky. Ash saw some bushes move. Urgals. She hissed with disgust. She ran to Casey, but not before the Urgals came upon her. The ram lowered his head. A threat. she touched Saphiras mind. Urgals. She warned her. "Brisingr!" She yelled,as she released a arrow from her bow. The urgals fled, and the ram died. Ash fell unconcious. Saphira warned Casey and Crystal, then raced to Ash, finding her unconcious.
