Sarah smiled.  "Well, I guess I'll drive," she said.  The girl would walk, except it'd be harder to carry the gerbils back home that way.  "You get shotgun, mom." Smiling, the key was stuck into the ignition and turned.   The engine revved to life, and the car was ready to go.

"Darling! Why would you kill me with a shot gun?! I didn't raise you this way. When did you get a shotgun? You're too young! Why would they even let you purchase that? Why would you offer that to me? I would never use a gun! I've never even touched one in my whole life!" Opal sat there, apalled.

"No, mom, not like that!" Sarah said.  She couldn't help but smile and giggle a little.  "The term 'shotgun' is used when you ride a car in the front.  You know, right next to the driver.  Now, come on, let's go to the Pet Shop."

"Well, sweetie! Would that mean that whoever sits in the front seat... Is in danger of dying? How would they come up with a name like that for the p*censored*enger seat, which is what is should be called, unless if you sit here, you're in a risk of dying a lot!" Opal sat there, worried.

Angel worried more. She looked at the other cages. " Are..those gerbils too?" she asked, seeing through the gl*censored* cages.

"Well, it looks like it. I can't tell for sure. I sure do hope so." Frost was very worried.

"Oh, mom," Sarah said.  She sighed.  "Just... forget about it, ok?  Let's go."  Driving to the Pet Shop, they got there in about two minutes.  "We're here!"  the blond happily said.  "Come on, let's pick out some gerbils!"  She felt for her gift card in her pocket - yup, still there.  Getting out of the car, she started to go inside the shop.

Opal followed closely behind Sarah, or as close as she could get, seeing that she was an old lady, but for her age she thought she was doing pretty good. She smiled, Sarah looked so excited to be getting gerbils, she really did pick the perfect present after all. Of course, she'd get 2 or maybe 3 gerbils for herself, but Sarah gets four.

Ginger snapped to attention when the same girl from yesterday came and looked through her cage.  "Sandy!  Look!" she said.

Ish had finished his meal long ago.  Now it was time for dinner.  His snack had been over long ago, too.  The gerbil scurried off into the forest, trying to find his food.

Sarah walked in the store, her mother close behind.  She started to look at the gerbils.  At the moment, she was looking at two gerbils - one was completely tan and the other was tan with a spot on its forehead.  The card on the cage said that the two were sisters and the names were Sandy and Ginger.

"Whoa! It's that girl who cleaned our cage yesterday! Think she'll get us?" Sandy and Ginger had seen all these humans take gerbils away so many times, but no one ever took them, would today be the day?

The same two men who had cought all the gerbils at 'Pet Express' the pet store came around, looking for more gerbils to catch, and bring to the pet store. So they can get paid and support their families, they were driving along a forest, when one of them saw a quick movement that could only come from a gerbil, he parked the car, and grabbed their nets and equipment, "There it is!"

Bob saw Sarah come in. "Why hello there! Are you getting gerbils? Yesterday when you worked with them did you get inspired and want one of your own? Or is your....Grandma the one getting the gerbils? Or..is that your mother?" He hoped he didn't offend the old woman, if she could hear him anyways.

Opal heard the salesman call her a grandma. "Mother." She told him sternly, then lightly kissed her daughter Sarah on the forehead. "We're both getting gerbils, but I might withdraw because you shouldn't be offending customers that way, it's very rude, and not the way to get business." She stomped off in another direction, towards the gerbils.

"You know, I don't know if she'll get us, but if she does..." Ginger's voice trailed off.

Whisp noticed a girl that was from yesterday walking around.  "Is she going to get a pet..?" she thought out loud.

"Why don't you keep your thoughts to yourself, Whisp?" Vyn snapped at his sister.  But, once again, he was ignored.

A squeak of horror escaped from Ish's mouth.  Looking for some way to rid of these humans, he saw a tree trunk with a small opening on the bottom.  He tried to squeeze in, but so far, it wasn't working.  Wriggling around, he finally managed to get inside.  He scrambled up onto a small ridge in the wood so he wasn't touching the floor.

Sarah walked off to the other cages. The first cage with Sandy and Ginger was a maybe.

"Well, it could be okay. Yesterday, she really started to grow on me, of course I like Bob more, but I've been waiting to get adopted, I hope it's a good place there. Well, you know get held everyday. Good food and water supply, and excercise area. Thats all i ask, my only requests." Sandy told Ginger.

"The gerbil went in the tree!" One of the men yelled to the other, he ran over to the tree, he didn't want to  cut down the tree, and harm nature, but if the gerbil was that stuborn, it had to be done. "We may need to cut this tree down, we got a stuborn one, think this one is worth it?" The other man nodded his head, that settled it, one of them, the more skinny one put on a glove and reached up the tree, he got ahold of the tail, and pulled it out. He hoped it didn't have any diseases, like rabies, that was the purpose of the gloves.

Opal saw some gerbils she quite admired, but she wouldn't pick out any gerbils until Sarah had picked out her gerbils becuase Sarah would get first pick, in case they wanted some of the same gerbils, she would let Sarah get the ones that they both wanted, since it's her birthday. Or would she? Maybe, maybe not. Depends what gerbil we're talking about here, some would make a beautiful centerpiece.

Shadow could see a customer come in, she was very old, but she had come with a young girl, she hoped that if she got adopted it would be by hte young girl, not the old woman. Wait a minute this young girl was the girl who had been volunteering yesterday, well she cleaned their cages, he wasn't sure if she was volunteering, but she would make a nice owner.

Bob pretended nothing happened between the old woman, and himself. The old lady apparently was Sarah's mother, not grandma, he hoped he didn't offend Sarah. She did a good job volunteering, and it seemed the gerbils were warming up to her, at least he would get business from, and her 'mother' believe it or not, she shouldn't even go out in public with that many wrinkles, had she heard of wrinkle rejuvinator?

"Still," Ginger squeaked. Still, what if she's a cruel owner? One that barely feeds us anything, one that doesn't give us toys, one that only fills our water to supply a few drops? What if she beats us, hits us, injures us?

We don't know this girl. Not well enough.

Whisp whipped around. "Why don't you shut up, retard?!" she snapped. "Why don't you start having positive attitude? Why don't you start being nice? Why don't you start being a real gerbil? Why don't you start being a good brother?!" Her rage spilled out, all onto Vyn.

"I... I..." Vyn stammered. He finally found some words to say. "I didn't know you felt that way..."

"You know what, Vyn?" Whisp said cruelly. She laughed mockingly at him. "Ha, you know what? Just be the way you are. I don't care. Ha... haha... hahhhaahahahha!" It was as if she was crazy now...!

"Whisp... What's with you? Come on, be my sister again!" Vyn pleaded. What was with Whisp? Seriously?! She had never acted this way before!

"Fine. I'll go and be normal." Whisp said, in a plain tone. Her moods were always changing. Vyn probably wouldn't understand. But she supposed that maybe things happen for a reason. Maybe Vyn is the way he is for a reason. So why change him if he is who he is for the better? Whisp nonchalantly turned away and started to munch on a sunflower seed.

Phew... I thought that something was seriously wrong with her... Vyn thought with relief.

Ish squeaked horrifically.  Humans were trying to catch him, and they'd grabbed his tail!  EEK!!!

Struggling, he managed to get free of the small, weak grip - good thing the man hadn't had time to get a good enough hold on him.  Finding another set of ridges, he went higher - about half-way up the tree!  Would the humans get him now?

Sarah looked at two gerbils in another cage.  Vyn and Whisp were their names, and they were brother and sister...  No.  Not them.  She didn't know why, but Sarah didn't want these gerbils.  She kept looking at all the different cages, and decided - she wanted Sandy and Ginger, then Angel and Frost.  That's who.

"Mom!" she said.  "I know what gerbils I want!  And what stuff for them that I want, too."

"Well, you never know. I hope she's a good owner, and not terrifying and mean." Sandy said, as if to read Ginger's mind. "We're always in danger, and at risk by anyone who adopts us, no matter how nice they look, you can't tell anything about them, until it happens." Sandy said.

"He got away! He ran further up the tree, this time we gotta cut down the tree." The man told the other, "Get the saw." The other man ran off and retreated with a saw, which he handed to the other man, who in return gave him the net to get the rodent with, this plan could not be destroyed. The first man cut down the tree, and the other one, the more stronger body build one, caught the gerbil in the net, and safely put it in a small traveling cage.

"Okay, which ones? But, dear. I already got you your gerbl supplies! Didn't I meantion that? Got a water bottle, a glas.s cage, a food bowl, along with some food, then a wheel to ride on. Also, I got a little log shelter for them, then a little wooden shelter. I also got two sets of these plastic toys that can be made into all these differnt castle like things for the gerbils to crawl in, one for me, and one for you. Did I mention that I got tubes that go out of the tube and back in through these little holes in the lid. That good enough for you, sweetie? Also, what gerbils do you want?" Opal gasped, that was too much of a mouthful for such an old lady.

[Shadow watched Sarah and Opal]

Bob patiently was waiting by the front desk for Opal and Sarah to find their gerbils, earlier this week, he had seen opal come in and get a gift certificate, and lots for supplies. Besides, he didn't want to offend her further by telling her to hurry up, since he was very much so getting bored.

Ginger grumbled and disregarded her sister.

Ish was tangled in this... thing... with strings and lines and... and...

It was all just a blur. He pas.sed out, the whole world swirling around him before it faded to black.

"Oh... You didn't say you got supplies," Sarah said.  "But I was going to get something like that anyways.  Thanks again."  She smiled and pointed at Sandy and Ginger's cage.  "I want those two" - then she pointed to Frost and Angel's cage - "and those two."  She pulled out her gift card.  "This should do the trick for payment!"  Sarah smiled again.

Sandy rolled her eyes, Ginger could be so moody, and ruin all the fun.

Once the men got to the pet place, they took the gerbil inside, and showed the gerbil to Bob, who waved them off into another direction, he told them to put the gerbil in with Scarlet, who was currently alone right now. They did as told.

Shadow saw these men placing a gerbil inside the same cage as her! She didn't know this gerbil, would they become friends? He'd have to teach this gerbil all about this place, probably, fun. Although, the gerbil was currently blacked out. At least there'd be peace for now, before all the questions came streaming out.

"Okay..." Opal's voice trailed off, she had seen beauty in Sandy in Ginger, but then again it's her daughters birthday...but she wants them! "Well, go ahead and pay for them, I'll pick out two gerbils for myself. "I'll take this one and...." She pointed at Splash. "Then...That one." She then pointed at Ish." This gerbil was cute, but currently seemed to have p*censored*ed away, or...dead? Oh well, either way alive or dead. Dead- Nice centerpiece Alive- Fun!

Sarah smiled and told Bob, "I want Sandy, Ginger, Frost, and Angel.  Can you get them for me?"
