Jason jumped, wrenching his hand out of her grasp. The hair on the back of his neck was standing on end. "There's something weird about that one," he mumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets. "The scar on my throat burns around him."

Josh slipped into a fake pout. "Awee. She's mad at me." He chuckled, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth. "Guess I'll just have to show her that I don't take no as an answer." He tossed the still-burning cigarette onto a bookshelf. The pages of 'Demonology 101' caught fir, and the flames started to spread from book to book. After locking the door on them, he fled the scene, only a note taped to the door of the employee's lounge showed that he was there. The words were visible through the window of the door.

'Haha, 

The door is locked,

The clock has ticked its last tick,

and tocked its last tock.

You're stuck in here,

with nothing but him.

Now I'll watch you both burn,

with nothing less than a grin.

"What if you couldn't help it?" Sarah asked, eyes locked on his. "What if you were enraged beyond reasoning?" If her heart hadn't died along with her human body, it would have been hammering in her chest. Physical contact wasn't something she was used to. "Has any of your kind lost control? Is it possible to be unable to control your shifting?"

"I know exactly what you mean, he makes me really nervous" Deomi said, when a motion caught her eye. And walked over ot he door and read the note. Anger flooded through her. The wolf inside snarled and snapped, fighting to get out. With a suprised gasp, she looked over at Jason, "Hes buring down the building. And we are locked in." THen the fear in her voice turned in to Demonic laughter, "but if he thinks its that easy, he's dead wrong." She took a step away from jason and let the wolf take her over.

Snarling and snapping, the wolf shook its dark russet fur and stretched its black wings. Deomi blinked and then looked at Jason, momentarily wondering what he was thinking. She pushed the thought from her mind. Now she could smell the smoke, it stung her nose and her wolf's instincts told her to get out. She could find escape easier in this form. Her nose quivered as she looked about the room. Of course there had to be no windows.

THe wolf's survival insints were stronger then her human ones, and she noticed a small rope hanging from the ceiling. The attic door. She stood underneath it and punched her poweful muscles, then leapt straight up, grasping the rope with her teeth and yanking it down. The door swung down and a ladder unfolded to the ground. She looked over at Jason and wagger her tail with a loud bark.

Liam closed his eyes and clenched his jaw. It had happened before. Someone had getten to close. He had lost it. And she had ended up dead, "I will never lose control." he said through clenched teeth, "Not now, not ever." Not again. He thought. He liked to believe he was in control of the wolf, but deep down, he knew he was no more in control of the wolf than he had been when Deomi and her family was killed. To this day, he still blamed himself.

((XD im tying Liam and Deomi together, but the whole story is to remain a mystery for now ;D))

Jason only frowned, eyebrows knitting together as his thoughts became jumbled. As he approached the latter, one hand waved in the direction of the attic. "Ladies first," he mused, smiling. He had always been good at keeping his cool in stressful situations. Smoke, which was coming from under the door, started to fill the room. He blinked.

Sarah dropped her hand from his chest. "I see," she said, smiling weakly. "I guess that's what makes us different then. You can control what you are; my kind can't." Her eyes flickered to an unreadable ex
pression.

Deomi rolled her eyes, but hooked her paws into the rungs and thrust herself up. Once at the top, she ran to the window, growling loudly. She could smell Josh. She worked the window open with her muzzle and jumped out onto the roof. Looking around, she spotted Josh. The street seemed deserted, and she was glad. This would be easier that was.

SHe leapt off the roof and landed in front of him, teeth bared and fur bristled. She knew if her eyes didn't give away who she was, the ebony black wings that were folded to her body would. She started to growl again and tensed her muscles, preparing to lunge. Her eyes said more than words ever could. You tried to kill me. I'm going to send you staight back to hell where you belong.

Liam sighed and took a step away from Sarah, looking at teh ground, "I said I CAN control myself, not that it was easy."

"It may not be easy, but you still have the option." Sarah argued with a frown. "You've never seen a vampire taken over by blood lust, have you? Horrible..."  She blinked. "Every one of us gets like that sooner or later. We can't help it. You, at least, can train your body to resist it. To keep from shifting." A slow, weary smile. "My monster can't be contained. When its hungry, it needs to be fed."

Jason's hand on her shoulder was strong, holding Deomi back. He only tsked at her, shaking his head. His words, however, were directed at Josh. "I finally figured you out," he mused. "You're the boy who jumped me, right? The one who cut my throat when the police showed up? The boy who killed me." He eyes were harsh and accusing.

Josh only laughed; the noise was musical, and surprisingly attractive. "So the blind man finally sees..." 

Deomi relaxed slightly at Jason's touch, but still wnted to try and rip out Josh's throat. She watched him warily. So Josh had killed Jason huh? Why didnt that suprise her. Her growl was softer this time, but her reddish fur was still on end.

Liam shrugged, "when my monter get scared or angry, it needs to fight back." Suddenly, a growl reached his ears, another wolf, "do you hear that?" he asked, looking in the direction the sound came from.

The vampire pricked her ears. "Yes," she sighed. "It sounds like a wolf; and some sort of fire." Her nostrils flared as she picked up the scent of the choking black smoke. "Ugh.."

Jason hand tightened on Deomi's shoulder, and he was forced to let go so he wouldn't break a bone or anything. His voice was a snarl. "You fat bastard!" 

"Bastard, yes," Josh said, frowning. A crease formed between his eyebrows. "But I wouldn't say I'm fat." He blinked, looking at Deomi. "Quick growling at me. You sound like a dog."

Deomi let a howl rip from her throat, then looked back at Josh, Not a dog. Her eyes read, a wolf. She bared her teeth.

Liam's eyes widened in shock. The howl. It was familiar in every way. Deomi. She was part of his pack, he would remember her anywhere, "I know that wolf." he told Sarah, starting to run toward where the sound was. No, it wasnt Deomi, it couldnt be. She had died. He had been there when she died. He remembered the guilt of not being able to save his best friend. A familiar pain rose in his chest. But it sounded jsut like her. GOing to look wouldnt hurt....

The acrid scent of burning paper wafted around them. Josh snarled back, lip curling to reveal teeth sharpened to a point. "Your bark is worse than your bite," he hissed tauntingly, eyes flashing a deep crimson.

Jason lunged, fist aimed for Josh's jaw. But he was too slow; Josh's hand closed around his fist, twisting his arm painfully behind his back. He held him there with a laugh. "Be sure to tell me what its like to die...twice..."

He pressed his favorite pocketknife against Jason's throat. Again.

Sarah followed after him, catching up in no time. Her eyes were wide. The ex
pression he was wearing was slightly scary. "Is something wrong?" she squeaked, glancing sideways at him as they ran.  

Deomi snarled loudly and lunched at Josh, slamming into his chest and gripping his throat in her jaws. She knew the instant that her teeth had broken the skin, and that if she just held on a little tighter, she could suffocate him. She started to tighten her grip when she saw something, rather, someone That made her let go.

Liam froze in his tracks, not bothering to reply to Sarah. It was Deomi. She was both familiar, but different. She had ebony wings, but besides that, the scar above her left eye was gone, and she obviosly wasnt dead. He stared at the wolf with a face void of emotion, "you-you were dead." he said quietly, "I watched you die."

Deomi whined nervously, then remembered Josh. She jumped away from the demon, and began to growl again.

Josh rubbed his throat with a low growl, the flesh there knitting together. The dead healed quickly; they could only die if you hit a vital organ or something. His hand was coated with black liquid. Blood. His eyes flashed, and the knife in his hand went sailing through the air. It landed with a thud in Deomi's side.

Sarah doubled over, both hands over her mouth. Both the scent of Josh's and Deomi's blood wafted through the air towards her. A strangled growl worked its way out of her. Tears streaked down her face. "Not now," she cried quietly, shaking slightly as her eyes started to darken. The usual ruby turned to onyx. "Please, please not now..." 

Jason stumbled backwards, eyes wide. A thousand different thoughts ran through his mind. The main one being Deomi and the mysterious shifter, Luke. His eyes narrowed as he took one more step backwards away from Luke, one hand on his throat still. 

Deomi Yelped loudly and staggered sideways. She glanced at Liam and saw he was shaking, forcing himself to not shift. She on the other hand, was having trouble staying a wolf. When she was injured as a wolf, it made her want to become human again, to die in her real body. she turned her head and gripped the knife between her teeth and yanked it from her side. Unlike Josh's black blood, the kinfe was coated in a silvery liquid that also seeped from the wound on her side.

Then the pain began to fade. She shook her head to clear her mind after dropping the knife at her feet. She lunged at Josh, ignoring everything around her and her teeth sunk into his shoulder. She could feel his bones begin to break from the pressure of her powerful jaws.

Liam glanced sideways at Sarah, "Don't breathe through your nose!" he called to her, "that might help." His hands were still shaking as he struggled to remain human. He knew how proud Deomi was, and would only shift if she really needed the help, otherwise she would probably get mad. Besides, she seemed to have everything under control at the moment.

His mind was still rather fuzzy, how was that wolf Deomi? He knew she was dead, yet here she was, fighting that....whatever the boy she was fighting was. And there had been her silver blood. That was new. And the boy had been bleeding black, so just what was going on?

Sarah shuddered, pushing him away from her. "Go," she snarled, eyes rolling back in her head as she struggled. "Go take that other boy and run away..." Another growl. Her head was spinning fast; she couldn't think straight. The hunger was winning. She couldn't focus...

Jason frowned, yelling over the commotion at Liam, "Hey shifter! Who are you? How do you know Deomi? What's going on with your friend?" He backed away from Deomi and Josh, uncertain of what to do. He was actually quite useless. His wings ruffled at his side.

Josh snarled, twisting around. He slammed his fist in between her eyes, still trying to wrench his shoulder free. He was spitting curses. Suddenly, out of nowhere, two wings sprouted from his back, forming a wall between Deomi and himself. Black bat-like wings forced the wolf to let go.

He got to his feet, running a hand through his blonde hair. He grimaced, setting his shoulder right before it could heal wrong. "I'll kill you,"

Liam rolled his eyes at Jason, "wow you ask a lot of questions. I'll Explain after we get the hell out of here." he said, "come on." he bagan to walk away with a quick pace, shooting Deomi a quick glance over his shoulder.

Deomi gave him alook that taunted, not if I kill you first. She slowly bagan to circle him, belly to the ground and wings pinned to her body. This time, she watched him, waiting for the demon to make the first move.

Jason trotted after Luke, a strangled cry behind him making him jump. He turned around just in time to see something tackle Deomi from the side.

Sarah slammed into the wolf's side, teeth closing on the back of her neck. She bit down, snarling as she ripped at the wolf's flesh. Her black eyes were focused carefully on Deomi. 

Josh blinked, startled, as he stared at Sarah. "Hey," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. He showed no signs that he wanted to help. "I was killing her, you know. Bugger off." 

"Deomi!" Liam voice was both angry and hurt. he ahd watched her die once, he wouldnt do it again. With a shudder, the wolf inside him ripped to the surface with a violent roar. The silver and black wolf shook of the tattered remains of Liam's clothes. It growled loudly and looked at Jason for an instant. Liam had never stood beside a human as a wolf. He realised that he was roughtly as tall as one. He had never realised how much bigger his kind were than other wolves.

Then he turned to Sarah and his paws carried him there. He slammed into Sarahs side and knocked her away from Deomi, who colapsed to the ground, panting heavily.

Liam pinned Sarah down with his paws on her shoulders, praying that she would snap out of it before he had to hurt her.

Deomi closed her eyes. It felt like she was on fire. What had heppened? She rembmered fighting Josh, and then she saw Liam. The girl wtih him, was she a vampire? What was he doing hanging out with them? She whined low in her throat. She was in so much pain it felt like she would die. Why couldnt she go back to her human form? Was she stuck a wolf forever now? Another beat of her heart sent another wave of pain, yet she stayed a wolf. When this was over, if the venom didnt kill her, could she be a wolf forever? The thought was odd, but not altogether scary...

Jason sprinted to Liam's side. "Go check on Deomi," he panted, looking down at the vampire. "I'll hold her down." He smiled, crouching down. He slipped his hands under Luke's paws, pushing down on Sarah's shoulders.

She snarled, wriggling under him. "Got it," he grunted. "You go check on her."

Josh smiled, striding up to Deomi. He kicked her in the ribs as hard as he could manage, facial features twisted into a nasty grin as he heard a crunch. "Don't bite me," he hissed. Another kick.  

Liam reluctantly stepped away from Sarah, but when he did, the sight of Josh kicking Deomi made him mad all over again.

Deomi yelped loudly as she felt one of her ribs crack. SHe curled into a tight ball and whimpered, waiting for death.

Liam lunched for Josh, knocking him back. He stood between the Demon and Deomi, fur bristling and gaze completely hostile. His snarl was completely feral, and human traits that he usually had as a wolf were gone. His emerald-green eyes blazed savagely. and he bared his teeth. Thats right dumbsh!t. he thought, There's two of us.

Josh snorted. "Two against one isn't fair," he complained, standing up gracefully. He brushed off his shirt. "Damn. I just bought this too. You owe me three hundred dollars, dog..."

Jason pinned Sarah down, wings open at his sides in case she sprung at him. Her black eyes were locked on his until she whipped her head to the side, one of her fangs slicing his wrist. He pulled back one hand, gasping in shock. Silver and gold marbled blood oozed from the wound, along with a transparent liquid.

Before he realized his mistake, Sarah was ontop of him, teeth buried in his neck.
