Svali noticed the group that had suddenly formed and immediately walked over to it. "What's going-" was all she had time to say before Krael interrupted.
"Perfect. When do we leave?" he said, glad that he had something productive to do that his life didn't depend on. Turning to his sister, he said "The rest of us are going to go explore. We might find something, we might not. You wanna come and find out?"
Svali only nodded silently. Why not? It was something to do. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Damien said "Shouldn't we bring... something? I mean, we only just found water, shouldn't we try and find a way to bring some with us?"
Krael completely ignored Damien, brushing him aside with his good arm as he walked past.
Svali looked back and forth between Krael and the rest of the group, unsure if she should follow her brother or hang back with the others. Deciding to err on the side of caution, she said "Krael? What are you... doing?"
Krael laughed, as if it was obvious. Somewhat impatiently, he said "Didn't you hear anything I just said? We're going to explore, and the best place to do it is somewhere we definitely haven't been. Or at least, not since the explosion. We're going to cross the river, Svali."
Svali stared. What had she been expecting? She wasn't sure. But crossing the river? That seemed a little stupid, even for Krael.
"It's moving so fast, though." she said quietly, but Krael was already walking back towards it.
He stood just a foot away from the quick moving water, looking for the best way to cross.

"It's not that fast," Seth said eagerly, and bounded forward, regardless of his sore and exhausted muscles. He brushed gently past Krael, immediately diving in. Seth had been on the swim team, and often swam in rivers to get better at swimming against currents so that he'd be even faster in the still pool. Lana let out an exasperated sigh and knelt down, staring Seth in the face as he started wading into the river. She reached out an arm and tugged him out. Seth wailed in protest, his eyes blinking in surprise. "Seth, we should just look for an easy place to cross instead of just leaping in. Just because you used to be on the swim team before the world went boom and crap doesn't mean you can't drown. Just stick with everyone, okay?" Her eyes were slightly worried, dark and brooding. Seth clambered out of the river and shook his hair like a dog, spraying Lana. She snorted good-naturedly and stalked away, limping slightly.

"Lana's probably right," Damien said to Seth, not at all unkindly. "I mean, I love to swim too. Hell, I was training to be a lifeguard before all this happened. But I definitely think we should be cautious about how we do this."
Svali nodded silently in agreement, but Krael only scoffed. "Wuss," he said, only half jokingly. "So what, then, do we just walk until we find a part of the river that's good enough to cross at? That's not gonna happen. A river is a river, and just because you go to a different part of it, doesn't mean it's gonna be any easier to get across it. I vote we just cross right here and get it over with."
"I don't think that's a good idea," Damien said quietly. Svali didn't even acknowledge Krael, however, and she simply walked away, following Lana.
"Go ahead," she snapped at Krael as she left. "Get yourself killed. See if I care. I'm sick of you never thinking about anything."
She stalked off, going the same direction Lana was.
"Sorry," Damien said, "but I uh. I agree with your sister." He followed her, hoping they wouldn't have to walk far before they came to a spot shallow enough to cross at.

Seth shrugged amiably. "Makes sense, I suppose. I'll just follow you guys." He welcomed the warmth of the beating sun, its forever rays drying his damp clothes and hair at a slow but steady rate.

((Every time I see my HA, I'm just like "Ehehehehehe. I dun have a face |D"))
Krael snorted. He felt anger rise in him, but he decided not to do anything about it. Nothing except glaring holes in the back of everyone's heads, that is.
"Idiots, all of them." he muttered to himself, though he did eventually end up following the group.
Krael's limp was almost non-existant now, but it was still noticeable to someone who was looking for it. He walked about ten feet behind the rest of the group. Occasionally, he would kick at the ground, sending billowing clouds of dust into the air.
Damien, who had been in the middle of the pack before, quickened his pace so catch up with Lana. When he was side by side with her, he said "So, you still mad?"

"Mad? I'm always mad," Lana chuckled darkly to herself, eyes glittering. "Depends on what kind of mad you're talking about though." She crossed her arms and met Damien's gaze. She smirked slightly, and slowed down a little to keep pace with Seth. Seth smiled brightly at Damien, and started talking softly to Lana, his shoulders occasionally shaking with laughter. Lana laughed softly as well, her eyes becoming gentle and sweet. The happiness faded from her eyes though, as she observed the river. It wasn't becoming any shallower, and it wasn't becoming any deeper. She pursed her lips, and sped up to catch up with Damien again. "When do you suppose this river's depth will change? It can't stay the same forever, can it?"

"I... don't know," Damien said absentmindedly. "Maybe it will just go on forever without changing."
He sighed. Why do things have to be so complicated with her? he thought, frustrated.
Then, breaking the silence in his usual loud, abrasive manner, Krael said "So this is a river, right? And a river is just water flowing from somewhere else."
"Thank you, captain obvious." Svali muttered, annoyed.
"Let me finish," Krael snapped in return. He was still in the very back, but now he quickened his pace to catch up a little. "All I meant is that this river has to lead somewhere. Like a lake or ocean. Where there's water, plants can grow. Animals hang around and eat those plants. You see where I'm going with this?"
Damien nodded, falling back a little so he could talk to Krael easier. He said "Yeah. Yeah I get it. You think the river's gonna lead us to food. It's possible."
Krael laughed, then slapped Damien on the back. "Exactly." He said, grinning.

Lana rolled her eyes at Krael and muttered something darkly under her breath. Seth appeared slightly amused. Krael and Lana were actually pretty alike. They would either turn out to be best friends, or they would be at each other's throats forever until the end of time, which had actually already happened, so scratch that. Seth hoped they would eventually get along, but it seemed that Lana wouldn't allow that to happen. It took note of Damien's apparent infatuation with his sister, and chuckled softly to himself. Poor Damien didn't know what he was getting into. The guy that had once asked Lana out on a dare was still missing. Probably fled to Turkey or something, safe and sound after Lana scared the sh*t out of him. But Damien didn't know that.
"Let's go find food then," Seth suggested jokingly. "We haven't seen any plants yet, genius. Nothing but sticks and large boulders and pebbles. Are you going to assume that by magic, a lake is going to appear and there will be an entire herd of animals there with trees all around?" Lana snarled at Krael. Seth placed a hand gently on her arm, and the fire from her eyes died a little bit, but her voice was still accusing and sarcastic. "The world EXPLODED, if you haven't noticed yet. We haven't seen any other signs of life other than us before. Why should there be a miracle now? What kind of cruelty would that be? To throw something potentially hopeful into our faces, only to have to taken away? The world already is destroyed. There's nothing good coming."
Lana stalked away, ignoring Seth's attempts to get her calm again. She strode to the front of the group, limping profusely, but still heading forward, putting as much distance between her and the group. Seth sighed and glanced apologetically to Krael, blinking in regret.

"Hey!" Krael practically snarled at Lana. Or rather, to the back of her head, as she was currently walking away from him. His silver eyes seemed to light up with anger.
"Just because I'm trying to improve morale around here doesn't mean you need to go and be a pessimistic little b*** about it."
"Krael," Svali said gently, hoping to prevent a fight. Krael continued as if he hadn't heard her at all.
"If you're bent on being convincing yourself we're all going to die, Lana, that's fine by me. But don't take it out on the people who actually have a will to live." He snapped.
Damien looked horrified, but Svali was almost indifferent. Krael knew how to make his words sting, but when it came to actually fighting he was useless. If it did come to a fist fight, Lana would almost certainly win, and Svali was fine with that. Maybe it would teach Krael to hold his tongue once in a while, although it was doubtful.

Lana twisted around with a dark smirk on her face. She fingered her knife, her eyes glinting with a predator-like glare. "A will to live? Morale? Just 20 minutes ago you were calling everyone wusses. Oh yeah, that's wonderful for morale." Her scary, sarcastic words were like nails on a chalkboard. A murderous, reddish haze covered her violent eyes. "Why should we live, when there is nothing to live for? What is pain, when it's the only thing you feel? Our world has literally been turned upside down. What gives us the right to live when everyone else is dead?" Her lips were bared now, and there was a vulnerable ex pression on her deathly face. "You want a will to live? I'll give you a will to live, a**hole." Still gripping her knife, Lana stepped toward Krael very slowly. She raised her hand, as if to strike him, when Seth blasted into her. Lana looked surprised, and hit the ground heavily. She winced, scrambling back to her feet quickly, her eyes narrowed, but suddenly clear of their reddish fog before.
"And what do you think you're doing?" Lana snarled, her voice no longer ghostly and malicious. "Preventing a fight from occurring," Seth replied. "We can't fight amongst ourselves. We need to become even closer than before if we're going to keep surviving." He narrowed his eyes in affection as he gazed at Lana. "Calm down, Lana. Let's take it easy, alright?"
Lana pursed her lips and sighed. "Uh, Lana?" Seth shuffled his feet sheepishly. "Can I have your knife? I don't want you shanking anyone without a second thought, because I honestly don't know what injuring people has to do with wanting to survive." There was a slight glimmer of amusement in her multi-colored eyes, but Lana merely slipped the knife back up her sleeve. "Fighting for your life sounds like you'd want to live, doesn't it? I'd rather keep this knife, brother. It's my only source of protection. If it comes to a fight, then a knife will be to my advantage. However, knife or not, I bet I could win against all of you in a fight." Lana sniffed, and strode off, still in the front of the group. "I bet you could," Seth muttered under his breath. Lana had prepared herself for any future violent encounters by taking self-defense classes almost every day. Rather scary and odd, but mostly scary. But, eventually, Seth knew that Lana would meet her match. He just wasn't sure it was Krael.

Damien watched, mouth agape, as the whole terrible scene unfolded. It was almost too much for him to follow: first arguing, then Lana coming at Krael with a knife, then Seth... tackling Lana? And now they were all just walking to who knows where again as if none of it had happened.
"I'm... a little confused right now," Damien said bluntly. "Can someone tell me what just happened?"
Krael gave a short, barking laugh. "Short version?" he asked. Damien only nodded.
"Well basically, Psycho here just tried to shank me for no other reason than the fact that I want to live," Krael said, loudly enough that everyone could hear. "Aussie boy stopped her. You get it?"
Damien shook his head, which caused Krael to laugh again. "Good, I'm not the only one then." he said, grinning wolfishly.
Then, as an afterthought, Krael added "And I know nobody's gonna listen to me, since that's obviously how things work around here, but I still think we're wasting our time. We really should consider crossing the river soon."
Svali sighed audibly. She really was getting sick of her brother. I wish he would just grow up already, she thought angrily, despite the fact that she was two years younger than him.
"And how, pray tell, are you planning on swimming across the river when you can't even use your left arm?" Svali snapped.
"Aw, come on, you know me better than that. I'll find a way," Krael said in the most condescending voice he could muster.
Svali glared at Krael, fire in her eyes.
"If looks could kill," Krael muttered, chuckling to himself.

Seth narrowed his eyes at the "Aussie Boy" part, but his voice was mild and cheerful as he said calmly, "This river doesn't seem to be changing much. We should stop soon and rest, and if the river doesn't become any shallower, I'm afraid we might just have to go with what Krael's saying."

((COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO. So much for posting last night, sorry >.< And yeah, camp was awesome xD)) ((Omg, this river is kind of exciting. Where's it gonna lead? They could try and cross but get swept away by the current towards like... a water fall (cliche, I know) or something. I dunno, it's just cool o3o))
Krael smirked, glad that someone had finally acknowledged he might just be right for a change. He opened his mouth to say something just as Damien repeated "Rest." He laughed, and there was relief evident in his tired voice as well. "Now there's a word I haven't heard in a while. I had almost started to forget what it meant."
Completely ignoring the rest of the group now, Damien flopped gratefully to the ground. Under normal circumstances, he would have never considered the hard, dusty ground a suitable place to rest. Then again, everything seemed like an inviting bed when you had just spent the day almost getting blown up, running from sandstorms, and generally trying not to die.
Damien sighed, and felt as his eyelids began to droop slightly. He didn't let himself fall asleep just yet, though. No. He was far too wary of, well, everything really. His head kept filling with images of Lana pulling the knife again and killing someone. Or worse, getting herself killed. He still didn't entirely understand why he felt so obligated to protect this girl that he barely knew. This girl that, as far as he knew, hated his guts at the moment. It's not like she can't take care of herself, he thought.
He sighed once more, then abruptly sat up. He noticed, not caring much, that no one else had joined him by the river. Svali and Krael were both hanging back uncertainly. Svali just looked cautious, like she wasn't ready to take a break just yet. Krael, however, looked downright anxious, like he was itching to cross the river.
After a pause, Svali said "Yeah. Yeah I guess we can rest here for a bit. I just don't think we should stay long." With that, she walked over fairly close to where Damien was and knelt by the river, drinking from it.
((asdfjkl I didn't know what else to post.))

Blinking, Lana sighed. Resting was the last thing she wanted to do right now. Strolling over to a flat boulder, she climbed to the top, ignoring her ankle. It was getting better from the exercise, but it was still a little bit sore. She sat on top of the flat rock, gazing at the never-ending sunlight. Sighing, she crossed her legs and gazed at the group of people she was traveling with. She smirked slightly at Krael. She hated his guts, but she had kind of mixed feelings for Damien. Startled by her realization, Lana pursed her lips and considered Seth and Svali. She loved Seth because he was family and because of his bright and funny personality. Svali was her friend, of course.

((Okay. So I'm sick. Don't laugh, but... I think it's because a little kid randomly came up to me a few days ago and wiped his nose on my hand. :/))
Krael huffed a sigh, then grudgingly sat down on the ground, back against a rock. He wished the others would just hurry up and cross. He couldn't help but wonder if the reason they were so reluctant to do what he had said was because he was the one who said it. He laughed at the thought. It was probably true.
Krael took the opportunity to take the bandaging off his leg and check on it. Slowly, gingerly, he peeled off the bloodied remains of the shirt. The wound had dry blood caked around the edges, but it really wasn't that bad. At least it wasn't bleeding anymore, and he could put some pressure on it. Satisfied, he rewrapped the wound, this time using a different part of the shirt to cover it, and leaned against the rock.
Having nothing else to do, Krael decided to glare at Lana. He didn't care if she noticed or not. In fact, let her see him. It would almost certainly bug her. He almost picked up a nearby pebble to chuck at her head, but he stopped himself. Better not, he thought, or she might actually shank me this time.
((Derp. I just realized that all the guys are shirtless xD Well, Damien might not be. But I know for a fact Krael is (ew) and so is Seth. XD))

((.............................................. O_O WHAT. What the crap is wrong with that kid? I should get Lana to shank the crap outta him. >:D It'll be all, "You got queenkira sick. SHANK!" I made Lana so much more EVIL than I meant to. DDD;))
Lana returned his glare evenly, her eyes sparking with a red haze of pure hatred. She fingered her knife, a menacing smile dancing on her pink lips. Suddenly, she smiled directly at Krael, her glare disappearing. It was a broad smile, and it seemed mysteriously sincere and calm. She leaped to her feet and bounded off of the boulder easily. Striding over to him, she flicked her wrist and nearly cut Krael's shoulder, the blade whizzing by his body and missing by just a hair. Walking over to the river, she observed it with her eyebrows furrowed. Tilting her head, she noticed an odd amount of large boulders a little farther down the river. Or at least, she hoped they were boulders. It's not like those large lumps were moving or anything. She figured that they were rocks.
((You're so freaking right. EW. Put your shirts on. xDD))
