((If that's rusty, I'd hate to see polished. c;
I dunno. I think CHeese said something about her internet being down. D:))
Krael stalked off, his explosive anger far from having receded. He was furious with the others, with himself, with absolutely everything. The damn world had gone and ended, and it had forgotten to take him with it. Just flipping fantastic.
He still didn't understand why he survived. Krael was no saint and he knew it, so why would he be one of the 'lucky' few to make it? You know what, he fumed silently to himself. I don't even know if I want to be a survivor anymore. Maybe if I go and heckle Aussie Boy a little more, he'll finish me off so I don't have to deal with this crap anymore.
Krael stopped for a moment, wondering what he should do. If he kept on walking, who was to say he would ever find his way back? Even he knew he had taken it too far this time: he had never seen Seth look so angry. He doubted anyone would come looking for him now. Svali might. She's stupid like that. Stubborn. Damien probably won't. Seth and Lana definitely won't.
He risked looking back to see what was happening with the others. Lana was nowhere in sight. Seth was chasing after her, with Damien and Svali standing where Krael had left them, looking dumbfounded.
What the hell do I do now? he wondered. Tears formed in his eyes, burned them. He refused to let them fall.
((Deeerp.))
~~~
Svali didn't dare look Seth in the eye. Monstrous, pathetic, excuse for a human being? Is that what he thinks of my only brother?
She felt somewhat responsible for Krael's actions, so she felt absolutely terrible. She couldn't even begin to imagine what Lana and Seth had been through, and she didn't want to try. "I'm so sorry," she muttered lamely as Seth ran off.
Then the only sound that reached her sunburnt ears was the steady thudding of Seth's shoes, rhythmically striking the dusty ground. As that too faded away, all that remained was suffocating silence.
"Your brother's an ass." Damien said, stating the blatantly obvious, as he tended to do on occasion.
Svali felt her cheeks burn red. "I know he is. You don't have to tell me. Try living with him."
She could feel Damien staring at her, and she quickly averted her eyes.
Damien stared at his worn sneakers, dread settling in the pit of his stomach as he realized what had just happened. The group- the big, safe group- had just split up. Everyone was angry at each other because Krael couldn't keep his stupid mouth shut, and now they were all going to die out here and just rot in the heat of that merciless sun, and-
Taking a ragged, shuddering breath, Damien forced himself to stay calm. No. We're okay. Krael and Lana just need to calm down, and we'll be fine. I'm not alone- Svali's here. She won't leave, she won't leave. Not now.
"Svali..." he started, suddenly feeling very, very afraid. "Promise that you'll stay here."
She was surprised at his request. "Damien we can't stay here, we have to keep moving and try to find shelter. The sun is too hot out h-"
"No," he said, shaking his head, feeling stupid. "No. I meant... don't leave me."
Svali felt her heart clench. Here was this big, tough looking guy that had to be a good two, three years older than her, and he was pleading with Svali- scrawny, pathetic little Svali- not to leave him.
"Of... of course." she stammered. She saw relief wash over his face even as she said it. Briefly, Svali wondered if it was worth going after Krael. He was going to kill himself out there, she just knew it. She couldn't in good conscience let that happen, but at the same time Svali couldn't bring herself to help Krael when he was being so pig-headed.
Echoing her thoughts, Damien suddenly spoke up, sounding scared. "What do we do now?"
"We walk," she answered, sounding so sure of herself, but feeling more uncertain than she ever had before.
((Teeheee. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. ;u; Mah Ty has bad Internet? I shall eat it in fury.))
Lana's eyes fluttered open, her chest constricting as she gasped, breathing in quickly, her sides heaving from the effort of attempting to breathe normally. "Hello, Sleeping Beauty. Finally awake, are you?" A smoky, throaty voice interrupted her foggy mind, and she blinked, her confused eyes wide and terrified. "Who are you? Where am I?" As far as Lana could tell, she was surrounded by white. All white, everywhere white, all different shades of white. Pale, creamy whites, stark, blinding whites, dark, grayling whites. Clean alabaster everywhere. "You're in District Underground. Original name, I know." Almond-shaped yellow eyes gazed steadily back at her, wolf-like and intelligent. These eyes were not warm and golden like her brother's. These were as yellow and steely as the sun, cold and calculating like a wild animal's. "What the hell is District Underground?" Lana hissed a reply, using all of her willpower to not threaten this ridiculous man. "Oh, we're nobody, really. We're just a civilization underground that managed to live and survive down here in the earth while the rest of you air walkers died in that huge firework." "You mean the meteor?" Lana barely registered his words, but realized he was talking about the disaster. "Not just any meteor, honey." Wolf Eyes gazed at her through narrowed slits. "That was a chunk of the sun that broke off from a collision with an asteroid. It hurtled toward Earth, and lo and behold, death and destruction everywhere!" His cheery voice did not suit the news he has just related to Lana. "Don't call me that." Lana snarled, her barely contained anger biting through the cool, still air. "What, honey? How about baby? Or sweet cheeks?" Lana growled and quickly sat up, kicking at Wolf Eyes. Her aim was true, and where he had been standing up, he was writhing on the floor in pain. Before she could become too pleased with herself, nausea and dizziness assault her and she started blinking, trying to chase away the stars of shock her body was still experiencing. "Good hit." As the stranger stood up, Lana swayed and was about to fall off the edge of the bed she was on. "Whoa there, sweetie." Strong arms reached out and caught her before she fell. The stranger wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. His warm breath hit her, their face inches apart. "Watch yourself." A strong, square jaw, broad shoulders, mass of blonde hair. Lana found herself staring. Not because he was attractive - but he was very easy on the eyes - but because he had a striking resemblance to Damien. Not in the face, although their hair was identical, but in their voice and their build. When Wolf Eyes had caught her, Lana was reminded of when Damien had done something similar the last time she had tripped. He had caught her like how Wolf Eyes held her, and the feel of his arms wrapped around her slim body was remarkably alike to the warm envelope of Damien's grasp. "I'm fine. Now let go of me and help me up, you useless prat!" Lana snapped out a hasty response before the stranger could say anything else annoying. "Just trying to help, sweetie." "STOP CALLING ME THAT!!" Hatred blasted out, cold and furious as Lana struggled to her feet and yelled in his face. "Sorry," He held his hands up, retreating. "How about you tell me your name instead of screaming bloody murder?" "Lana," "Your last name?" "KISS MY ASS!" "William Horace, at your service, Miss Kiss My Ass." A broad grin spread across his solid features. "Shall I kick you again, Horace?" "Call me Will." "I prefer to call morons by their last names, let them know how much I despise their very existence." "I like you," William grinned even wider, blinking pleasantly. Suddenly his cold wolf eyes were not so unwelcoming anymore. Lana headed for the door. "Where are you going, sweetie?" "To find my brother,"
---
Seth breathed out through his nostrils, trying to calm down. Perhaps I should go back and make peace with Damien and Svali. Damien is already a trusted friend, and I rather like Svali a lot. She reminds me of Lana before she grew violent and paranoid. Before they died. Seth shook his head, running a hand through his thick, messy hair. What he wouldn't do for water right now. Sweet, clean water. Where was a river when you needed it? Suddenly, as if on cue, a rushing, roaring noise of running water throttled his senses. A smell of sharp, clean mist rose to his nostrils. "Water!" Seth couldn't help but cry out loud. He started to run, sprinting for all he was worth. All those years of track, soccer, volleyball, marathons, swimming, biking, and countless other sports paid off for. In only a few minutes he reached the source of the water. Seth had to scrabble heavily to a sudden stop before he fell. Before he fell off the cliff. There was a waterfall, which was very strange. Instead of being supplied by a river, this waterfall was coming from below the cliff, as if supplied by a hidden river underneath the huge, rocky cliff.
I really want to jump right now, for some reason. I love cliff diving. Seth prepared himself and voluntarily flung himself off the cliff, hurtling toward the pool of water below.
Suddenly, hands reached out and grabbed him around his waist, pulling him in. Pulling him into the waterfall. Now he knew why the water looked like it was coming from inside the cliff. It's because it was. A ledge was at the very edge so that you could stand in the waterfall, and a river inside the cliff supplied the small waterfall. "What do you think you're doing?" Bright blue eyes deeper than the water in the river and blazing red hair more fiery than the explosion greeted Seth. "Hi, I'm Seth." He grinned crookedly, his famous smile spreading widely across his face. "Look at you, you're sopping wet with an idiotic grin! Why would you jump in our waterfall? Are you so daft you're suicidal?" "How you doing?" Seth winked while running a hand through his hair. Sighing, the girl wrung out the wetness in her hair and slapped Seth. "Ow, I'm focusing." Seth shook his head like a dog, spraying water everywhere. "You have my full attention now." "You're not in the colony. Leave. Now. You're lucky I saved you. Jumping into that pool would get you sucked into a giant water filtration system and you would have been filtered into our drinking water. You couldn't have just taken the stairs right there that led to this ledge behind the falls?" "Oh, ehehehe," Seth stared at a mossy stone staircase that started at the cliff and ended at the ledge. "Now go back to where you came, stinking freeloader. William already insisted on helping an unconscious outsider. No more beggars! Go away!" "Someone's having a bad day," Seth commented dryly as he was chased away.
I need to find Damien and Svali and tell them what I discovered. Maybe with three against one this girl will let us into this colony of hers. The outsider might have been Lana. I need to find her again.
((MWAHAHAHAHA!!!! Sorry if my deion of the entrance behind the waterfall was confusing.))
((OH GEEZ. Huge post. D:))
Krael spent a long time just deciding what his course of action should be. He could break down and cry like a worthless, pathetic little baby (that sounded appealing right now) or he could try to do something useful.
Making up his mind, Krael slowly and determinedly made his way back over to the river. Going back to what he had thought before, he decided to walk along the river until he came across some plants or something (preferably the sort of something that tended to eat the plants) for him to eat. The whole time he was walking, Krael kept replaying over and over in his mind everything that he hated about Lana. He could still hear her voice, harsh and degrading, telling him to go drown, or that she didn't need him. All the while, he entertained himself with images of Lana falling in the river, being washed away so he'd never have to deal with her again.
A strong pang of hunger suddenly assaulted Krael, bringing him out of his daydreaming and back to the unpleasantness of reality. He redoubled his efforts to find food, trying not to get his hopes up as he scanned the fast moving water of the river for any signs of fish. Not that he could imagine biting into a raw fish. The very thought of all the scales and slimy, cold flesh in his mouth made Krael want to retch. Instead, he allowed his sharp, grey eyes to search along the banks of the river for plant life. Even the thought of a dry, leafy bush was more appetizing than fish now that he had gone and ruined it for himself.
Allowing himself a brief smile of grim amusement, Krael vowed that if he got out of this alive, and humanity was somehow rebuilt, he would never order fish in a restaurant again.
~~~
"... Are we going after Lana and Seth?" Damien asked, since they were presently walking in the same general direction that they (Seth and Lana) had gone.
Svali didn't respond, instead choosing to continue striding forward purposefully.
"Svali?" he persisted, determined to get an answer out of her. He hoped she would say yes. It would be nice to actually have some sort of goal to try and achieve aside from just surviving. He also loved the idea of getting the group back together. Except for Krael, maybe. I could do without him.
Svali still didn't acknowledge Damien, so he quickened his pace a little to try and get some sort of response out of her. She did nothing, just kept on walking, staring at some invisible destination way out in front of her.
"Sv-"
"What, Damien?" she snapped, stopping very suddenly, saying it much more angrily than she intended to.
Damien paled a little. "I uh... I just... are we going this way 'cause Seth and Lana went this way? Or..."
"No," she said, very quietly. There was a certain sadness in her voice. Damien couldn't tell if she meant it or not. Why would she lie, though?
Thinking he wasn't going to get any more of an answer out of Svali than that, Damien went to continue on not going after his (former) travelling companions. He stopped again as he thought he heard her mutter something, maybe just to herself, maybe to no one at all. He could've sworn it sounded like "They don't need me", but then again maybe it was just his mind playing tricks on him, inventing things that never even happened, because when he turned round to look at Svali, she had her mouth set in a hard line. She was walking forward again, gently but forcefully moving to brush past Damien.
"Let's go." she said, loudly enough that Damien knew he didn't imagine it.

((Ehehehe late response.
ಠ_ಠ Short post. </3))
Lana glanced around, unsure of herself. Sighing, she had insisted to Savannah - the fiery redhead guarding the entrance to the colony - that she was fine. Savannah had seemed to believe her, and let her out back into the world. Lana could tell Savannah hated outsiders, and was glad to be rid of Lana. However, before she could make a run for it, Horace had sprinted to the waterfall ledge and dragged her back inside, claiming she still wasn't well enough to leave the safety of the colony. Lana had a sneaking suspicion that Horace wanted her to stay and live with the colony. She didn't care much for him, but she was grudgingly grateful for his help, considering she would probably be dead from exhaustion and thirst if it wasn't for him. "You're staying here until you get your full strength back," Horace narrowed his wolfish, yellow eyes at her. "I have got my strength back, Horace. Stop being a clingy moron and please just let me out!" Lana growled grumpily. "As far as I can tell, Lana seems to be all right. She put up quite a fight while you were assaulting her and hauling her back to the medic." Savannah sniffed, her blue eyes sharp and glowing with intelligence. "Why couldn't Savannah look after me? I like her so much better. She's more reasonable a lot less annoying," Lana sighed. "She has a point," Savannah pointed out mildly. She had to admit, she had grown rather affectionate of Lana's sharp tongue and grumpy attitude. It was a lot like her own pessimistic personality. "She's staying her, Savannah, and that's final." Horace eyed the two girls solemnly. "Lana's still a tad dehydrated." "Fine," Lana glared at Horace. "Whatever you say, Horace. But I'm leaving here as soon as I'm all better. A few more days..." Lana trailed off as she realized she had no way to tell time. The sun was in the same spot, metaphorical day after metaphorical day. She wasn't even sure if a day had passed, or a few hours, or even a minute. No clocks either, and she didn't trust her steady counting abilities. Lana tended to count very fast to 60 when she wanted a minute to go by quickly.
---
Where did Damien and Svali go? Seth was heartbroken, and standing all alone in the spot that they had last been. I guess that went after Krael. Svali would do that. After all, he is her sibling. Seth had calmed down enough to be able to think reasonably about Krael without having the urge to punch something. He didn't like Krael, but he could now tolerate his existence after taking the walk to the waterfall and back. Seth found it difficult to hold grudges, being the pleasantly cheerful and humorous person he was. I suppose I should go after them, apologize about being rude - even though Krael did chase away my sibling - and ask for their help in getting Lana back. Or I could go alone. Seth was the type of person who liked to do things in a group, because he liked having others watching his back and people who were able to correct his mistakes before he seriously screwed something up. But Seth was brave and not very cautious, and enjoyed doing things spontaneously, like jumping into a waterfall that had a water filtration system in it for the drinking water of the colony he had discovered. What to do, Seth pondered. More people means more people to go against that very attractive young lady who wouldn't let me pass. I should probably go after them. Seth took a deep breath and began running after the footprints in the dusty ground that Damien and Svali had left.

((Ahhh. >< I was SO SURE I had replied to this. Sorry. Dx))
Krael bristled with a tired sense of frustration the whole time he walked. Taking another break (he had been stopping very frequently, since there was no Svali around to tell him to hurry up), Krael walked over to the river's edge and knelt down. Making sure to avoid looking directly at his rather haggard reflection, he drank from cupped hands. For a few minutes after he was done, Krael remained kneeling there, just allowing his mind to wander.
I don't think I've ever been so unsure what I should do, He admitted to himself. He was painfully aware of the fact that now, he might very well die out here, completely alone, and he highly doubted that anyone would even care.
~~~
"Do you have a plan at all?" Damien asked Svali, trying to keep the accusatory tone out of his voice, but feeling it creep in anyway. "I mean, walking won't do much if the whole world is gone..."
Svali gave Damien a withering look. Hadn't she already been over this? "Damien, I don't know what to do, but even if walking won't solve anything, it's better than sitting around. Please, unless you have a better idea, stop asking me."
But I do have a better idea. Damien thought, wondering if it was such a good idea to tell Svali about it right now.
"Why don't you want to go find Seth and Lana? They didn't do anything wrong, and neither did you. Why are you angry at them?" Damien felt childish and stupid for asking so many questions. However his desire to bring the group back together outweighed the feeling, so he didn't back down.
"Well Krael did do something wrong." Svali said, tone deceptively even, though it was clear from her body language that she was anything but calm.
"I don't understand." Damien said, when Svali didn't offer up anything more.
"Krael has done nothing but cause trouble this whole time," Svali explained.
"I still don't see-" Damien began, shutting up when he noticed the glare that he'd earned from Svali.
Adopting the tone of somebody explaining something complicated to someone very simple, Svali went on. "He pissed them off, and I'm his sister. Don't you try to tell me that Lana and Seth don't hold me responsible for the stupid things he does."
Damien bl[injection]inked. That was exactly what he'd been about to tell her, actually. He was silent for a long time, unsure what to say at this point. Eventually he broke the silence once more. "I think-"
"We aren't going after them, Damien."
"Actually, I was gonna say I think someone's coming after us." He said.
Svali glanced all around, failing to see whatever it was Damien saw. Silently, he pointed behind them.
"I think it's Seth. I recognize the way he runs."
Svali only nodded, looking relieved and embarrassed at the same time. She wondered how he could have possibly made it all the way over there without either her or Damien noticing him, and why he was now chasing after them.
Without speaking, Damien began to walk towards the figure that he thought was Seth. Hesitating for only a moment or two, Svali followed suit.
((LOOOOOOOOOL I AM A WHALE.
ಠ_ಠ
Random moment, sorry. |D))
"Gah!" Seth saw them start walking over to him, and just as he put on a final burst of speed and arrived at their feet, he plummeted to the ground, tripping over a pebble. "Hullo," Seth looked up, blinking at Svali with wide, puppy-dog golden eyes. There was a crooked grin on his face, and he appeared pleasant as always, definitely not as angry as he was before. There was a slight shadow of guilt in his deceivingly innocent gaze, and his exuberant smile faded a little, frowning slightly at Svali, rather ashamed at his outburst before. He cleared his moment of uncertainty and started beaming wildly again. I hope Svali isn't mad at me for yelling at Krael. Seth thought to himself. You could barely see his excited eyes - his hair was in his face again - but you could tell he had discovered something from the eagerness literally emanating from his fallen figure.
"Hey. Heeey. Heeeey guuuuys." Seth began poking at their feet, jabbing and grabbing happily at their shoes and toes like a playful dog. "Heeeeeeeey. Guess what I discovered? Well, I didn't really discover it. More like almost fell to my death after I decided to jump of a cliff and into a waterfall but then there was this chick who was actually pretty hot by the way and then she kind of grabbed me from behind which was really surprising and then the next thing I knew I was on this ledge behind the waterfall like this cave thing and it was really cool even if a secret cave behind a waterfall is kind of cliche and you see that every time in any good adventure movie and there's people living there but then the hot chick chased me off and now I'm back here for help so that we can totally charge the entrance to the cave behind the waterfall and take over the people living underground and be the extreme overlords of the rest of the human population."
Seth took a huge breath before continuing in another extended burst of a run-on sentence that was really more of a paragraph with no proper punctuation.
"And then, like I was saying, we can totally be overlords I've always wanted to be an overlord which would be uber awesome I mean we'd be the supermegaawesomefoxyhot overlords while the underground colony bowed down to us and kissed our feet and whatnot although that would be kind of unsanitary I mean we must have really stinky feet and guess what's even cooler about the colony Lana's there and the hot chick even said something about there being a stranger there who was injured some sort of outsider who was collapsed and unconscious and then the undergroundies nursed her back to health and I bet that must be Lana I bet my left foot that it's Lana and it's all right if I'm wrong because I'm right footed and I bet my left foot so what do you say guys let's find Krael so that there's another person to help us storm the place and be an overlord and totally take over the undergroundies."
Seth wiggled around on the ground, getting dirt all over himself like a little kid. "Heeeeeeey. Heeeeeeeeey guuuuuuuuuys. Guess what I found!" He tapped their ankles and feet. "Heeeeey," And then the vicious cycle started all over again. Someone had to shut him up before he got even more carried away.
Damien stared. "I... what?"
He had trouble understanding what Seth could possibly be talking about. He stared at the overexcited, wriggling figure on the ground. "I don't know what you're trying to say," he said, worried that he might be missing something important.
"Slow down," Svali said. Then, to try and prompt him, she said "So there was a waterfall? And there was a cave... behind it?"
Damien nodded. That had been about all he had managed to understand as well. If what Seth was saying was the truth (he didn't think that he would lie, per se, but he also wouldn't put it past him to exaggerate a little), then that could open up a lot of new possibilities for them.
((TROLOLOL))
"Waterfaaaall," Seth hopped to his feet, surprisingly graceful in his action. "Let's go to the waterfall. I'll show you! I swear I'm telling the truth. I mean, I exaggerate a lot, but this time, I'm not exaggerating! I'm unexaggerating!"
Seth paused for a moment, staring blankly at Damien and Svali.
"Is that a word?"
--
"I'm not hungry." Lana glared at William. "I've told you already Horace, I don't want food."
"But this stew is delicious!" The boy insistently shoved the steaming bowl of beef broth and various vegetables underneath her nose.
"I'm a freaking vegetarian!" Lana shouted at him, peeved.
"But meat is delicious." Will looked at her with huge yellow eyes.
"Don't be such a Neanderthal. Humans can survive on foodstuffs other than meat and fish." Lana frowned at Will disapprovingly.
"Good luck with that. You need everything you can get while you're stuck in this post-apocalyptic hellhole." Will frowned in reply at Lana, but took the bowl of beef stew away. "You're going to have to eat something sooner or later. Most of our food is salted meat and fish from the river. Yes, there are fish there," He answered Lana's question before she spoke it, and she closed her mouth. "But we don't have many fruits and veggies. I'll see what I can do."
Sighing, Lana fiddled with her thumbs, extremely bored with this crazy underground colony. She's rather be out in the real world, even if it was destroyed. Anything would be better than this idiot.
