Persona:
Although Teddy can constantly change his look – a trait he inherited from his mother – he doesn’t like to pretend to be someone he isn’t. Or at least, he a.ssumes that this is the way he’s supposed to look. As a kid he never used his talent to change his looks unless it was for a brief period of time, and he’d always revert to what he formerly looked like before he changed. So he a.ssumes that how he looks is his natural form, and he doesn’t change it usually unless he feels the need to. And normally there is no need to, least he be in a situation where he wants to really bug Victoire, which can be more often than not.
Teddy is first and foremost a brave kid. He’s as brave as brave can get, thanks to the stories he heard as a kid about his parents and what they did to keep his generation safe, he knew he couldn’t be anything but brave, to try and make them proud. Because of this bravery he ended up in Gryffindor when he was once in Hogwarts, as you’d expect, and he was the kid willing to try out anything once. He tried out for the Quidditch team, he always answered questions in cla.ss, but then there was always once thing he was afraid to do. Yes, shocker, the big brave Ted had a fear of something, and it was one of those somethings that no one would really find out about. But it was the simple matter of a crush he had on a girl. Victoire, specifically.
As well as being brave, Teddy is pretty loyal. He doesn’t like to go back on any promises he made, especially to anybody who’s close to him. Lying isn’t something he likes to do, but he knows you can’t avoid it forever. He likes to be straightforward with people, making sure that they know they can trust him from their very first impression of Teddy. Loyalty is something he believes is a valuable trait; otherwise he doubts there’d be a real way to know you can trust anybody. So by letting people know they can trust him as soon as possible, it means a friendship with Ted could blossom a lot quicker than any usual friendship. It helps a lot in his line of work, too, because that way the customers figure they could trust a guy like Teddy. But his loyalty could still be a downside as a personality trait, as Teddy can show just how trusting he is in complete strangers, and anybody could exploit that fact.
History:
Teddy Lupin had no chance of knowing his whole family. They were in a war where casualties were an inevitability, but no one expected that the young boy would lose both his mother and father. By the end of the war, all but Teddy and his maternal grandmother were left, and having lost both her husband and daughter in the same short space of time, she was in no state to look after a relatively newborn child. She did her best, of course, but when you needed help yourself to get around, looking after someone who hadn’t even learnt to walk yet was an awkward position to be placed into. She knew she wouldn’t be forgotten, but Andromeda had no other connections to relatives. Little Teddy was the only physical connection she had left to her husband, her daughter and her son-in-law. She wanted to stay close to him, but she couldn’t do it all by herself, and she was thankful for the godfather of Teddy, the perhaps well-known Harry Potter.
Both the Potter’s and the Weasley’s helped out Andromeda to care for Teddy, but she wasn’t at all useless. No, far from it. She had plenty of money saved up, both in Gringotts and in the Muggle world, thanks to her husband. Andromeda knew that she couldn’t keep Teddy all to herself, and that he’d need to be around other kids, and so three or four or maybe even five times a week, Teddy would be over at the Potter’s or the Weasley’s house, playing with the kids and being fed by them. And he knew all about his parents. Of course he did, but he didn’t have to hear through rumours. He wasn’t hidden from his parents true fate, and it was his grandmother who told him. Teddy ended up asking to hear the stories of his parents bravery each and every night until he fell asleep, and Andromeda always loved watching his face light up as he heard about the tales of his parents bravery. The stories spurred him on to turn into the boy he is in the present day.
