Hi! Fifi here! This thread teaches newbies, like my friend, Spartans, to roleplay. For starters, it is important to know that a roleplay is kind of like writing a story with multiple players adding on their own parts.
Each user has a character, also called charries or charas for short. The character tyoe depends on the roleplay.
Example: In the roleplay "Haze" created by the user Shep is a wolf roleplay, so you would have a wolf based character.
Most roleplays require you to make a bio, short for biography for your character.
Example:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Species:
History:
Other
Looks:
For the roleplay, Haze that I mentioned earlier, this would be filled out for a wolf. Most users include their own biography format for you to use.
After you post a bio you're ready to roll! Well sorta. There are still a few things you need to know first.
Many roleplays post things like "All normal rules apply"
This means...
No spamming the thread: This means no random posts or excessive smileys.
No powerplaying: powerplaying is often shortened to pp. It means no doing things to other peoples charries that they cannot avoid, like hurting them or things like that.
No godmoding: Often shortened to gm. It means no super powerful abilities. Like sometimes mind control and instant life and death powers are often banned.
No advertising(sometimes): Sometimes a user bans advertising other rps and sales stuff on their thread.
Ok, next important thing is OOC. OOC is the abrieviation to Out Of Character. Use this when you want to make a comment to another player on the thread and such.
Example:
http://www.rescreatu.com/forum/cat/games/rp/fire-dancers/~page/2/
There isn't much ooc on this page, but the few that are are good examples. Some people replace their posts with ooc like paigecam because they either posted a late post or a double post on acciden. Also, someone uses ooc to say that they are leaving or when they ask to join a roleplay
More on OOC (Courtesy of Flareboy):
Some types or ooc are the following...
((I like pie))
{I like Pie}
OOC:// I hate Pie
[I like pie]
BUMPING~ One of the most useful inventions ever! If a roleplay that you are on is completley vacant of other players, simply post Bump. Some users use ooc to do this, but I don't think it's necessary. If you''re really bored, do a colorful bump. ^-^ ~BUMP~
More on Bumping: (courtesy of justfornow) Do not bump continuously unless it's your own rp, it annoys other users and is sometimes labeled SPAM. NO SPAM IS ONE OF THE RULES!
Some roleplays ask you to be literate or semi-literate. This means to describe things in good detail and spell things right, use proper grammar, ect. To be literate, it also means that you need to have more than one line of writing in your post, I don't like this rule personally, so I don't require complete literacy in my roleplays, especially considering one of my best respals, Ribunny123 isn't the best speller. *Huggles Ribunny*
Well, that's pretty much it. New users, post here if you need more help, or rmail me, whatever6551. Also, senior roleplayers, post here if I'm missing something. :)
Also feel free to advertise your own roleplays here for newbies to try out.
