Bade grimaced, pursing his lips. Charlotte's words hurt; they were like knives. So, she loved him, but she wished she'd never met him? "Oh," he said simply, looking away from her. "I guess that's just how you'd like it to be. I understand." He blinked at James. He wanted to yank his hand away from him and throw something. Not James, of course, but his moodswings were acting up. Good thing the other disorders he had weren't that bad; he'd probably go crazy.

Charlotte realized what she'd said wrong. "Not that I wish I'd never met you, but, I wish I hadn't been so stupid as to sleep with Stephen..." She blinked. "If you get what I mean by that." She sighed gently, frowning to herself. "I wonder what my mom and dad would say about this if they were here..."

James let go of Bade's finger, which was now covered in drool, and sniffled. Then he let out a piercing scream. But he smiled again and grabbed his father's finger. 

Charlotte glanced at her son in shock. "What the hell?" she muttered out loud, watching as he continued to chew on Bade's finger. "Why'd he scream like that?"

Bade covered one ear with a hand, letting out a breathless, "Ow..." after James screamed. He pulled James closer to himself, studying him. "I don't...know. He just shrieked and then went back to chewing on my finger." Either my kid's a freak, or I officially hate kids. "I'm guessing not all babies scream randomly?" he asked, blinking up at Charlotte. Should I be worried? 

Charlotte looked at him, eyes twin pools of worry and concern. "I'm guessing not..." She glanced at James, who looked perfectly content for the moment. "Maybe he had....a mood swing?" she said quietly, raising one eyebrow. Her heart twisted.

James stopped chewing on Bade's finger for a moment, noticing that his parents had stopped talking. The sound had always soothed him. It was a nice sound. Pleasing. He kicked his feet, clearly distressed, until he heard Charlotte mutter something under her breath. Then he stopped wriggling around and amused himself by chewing on Bade's clothing. His shirt, to be exact.

Charlotte smirked. She said teasingly, "Maybe he just got my temperment?" She let out a little chuckled, and couldn't help but glanced at Bade and James. Her heart twisted.

They look so much alike...

James was chewing on Bade's shirt, still, causing it to get wet with baby drool.

Bade blinked, then scooted a bit closer to Charlotte, bringing James along with. He pushed her hair away from her face and set his hand on her cheek. "Something wrong?" he asked softly, tilting his head a bit.

"Nothing's wrong," she said, smiling gently. "I was just thinking about how much he looks like you..." Charlotte blinked, warmth spreading through her like wildfire again where Bade's hand rested against her cheek.

James sneezed, getting snot on Bade's shirt. He fidgeted to chew on a different spot, so  he didn't eat his own snot. He giggled.

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh. "That's gross," she teased, prying James off of Bade's shirt. Her smile fell almost instantly.

James shrieked, tears streaming down his face. He kicked his feet a little, clearly upset. Charlotte frowned, and put him back near Bade. He stopped crying, even though he didn't chew on his shirt anymore.

She couldn't help but feel a little bit hurt. So now her own son liked Bade better than her?

"Uh," Bade blinked down at his son, then put his hand on top his head again, petting him. "what was that?" he asked, looking back up at Charlotte, clearly confused. As oblivious as he was, he could still see that Charlotte looked hurt, but he couldn't see why she was hurt. 

Charlotte looked away from James and Bade, her throat and chest feeling tight. "I don't know," she said quietly, going back to staring at the ceiling with an unreadable ex
pression. She shoved away the pain, telling herself that she was just being silly.

Bade pulled Charlotte close and hugged her tightly. "Liar. You look so depressed," he said, nuzzling her lightly. He kissed her forehead before looking back at James, his brow furrowed.

James only stared back up at Bade, returning a puzzled look.

Charlotte sighed, "I know." Her heart skipped a beat when Bade kissed her forhead, making her want to kiss him right back. But James was sitting there, and that would hardly be appropriate.

( He won't remember anything. D: )

Bade sighed, pushing his head against Charlotte's shoulder. "What time it is?" he asked, folding his hands at Charlotte's side. "Shouldn't James be asleep or something?"

( LOL. )

Charlotte nodded, numbly, but her mind was far away. Her eyes were clouded with distant thoughts as she got up, and sat on the other bed.

Bade stared at her for some time, then got up and sat down with her, taking her hand. "What's wrong?"

"You look so gloomy," Bade said, pushing her hair away from her face. "I mean, I know you're a gloomy person, but..." He sighed.
