"An hour or two," Bade answered, coming over and taking James into his own arms. "You seem a bit shattered," he commented, smiling.

Charlotte chuckled, but it was short-lived. "I guess..." she mumbled, raking her messy hair out of her face. Frowning, she started to look through her bag for a hairbrush.

( ono It's gone... )

Bade smiled. "You know, your hair would be easier to control if it were shorter," he said, half-teasing. It was mostly a half-hearted insult.

Charlotte snorted. "You wouldn't even suggest short  hair to me if you saw my Grade 7 pictures." She pulled a hairbrush out, and started to brush through her long messy curls. "I don't think I'll ever live that down." She glanced at him for a moment while she tossed the brush back into her bag.

"Oh, come on," Bade came over and wrapped an arm around Charlotte's waist, pulling her close. "I'd love to see how you looked if you weren't all gothic and gloomy... Shouldn't you be a bit happier?"

Bade rolled his eyes, which he seemed to be doing quite often lately, and hugging Charlotte back. "Yeah, right." he said, mussing her hair. "You're just teasing."

Charlotte took James gingerly, afraid that he would start crying again. All he did was absently tug at her long hair. She started to shuffle through her bag again in search for his bottle. No way was she breast feeding him in front of Bade.

He'd enjoy that too much.

"Right," Bade ran a hand through his black hair, basically pushing it behind one ear. "I'll be outside...again. If you don't want to smell smoke, don't go outside. Most likely, I'll be smoking." He turned and walked away, one hand stuffed in his pocket.

Outside, Bade was smoking, just as he said he would have probably been doing. Red-haired Russell came up then, his head hung and his hands in his pockets. Without complaining about secondhand smoking, he leaned against the cabin like Bade. When Russell looked up at the sky, Bade did the same, wondering what the hell he was looking at. Eventually, he gave up, and looked behind him, as if he could see through the wall.

"She's probably not coming outside because I'm smoking," Bade said, frowning. "Should I go back inside?"

"If you want," Russell mumbled. "But, it's bad for the ba-" Before he could finish his sentence, Bade flicked his cigarette at him and walked back inside.

"Are you coming out?" Bade asked, blinking.

Charlotte looked at him in surprise, running a hand through her hair as she blew her breath out slowly. "Sure," she said, readjusting her hold on James. Multi-tasking had never been her favourite thing to do.
