Charlotte managed to wriggle free, and she escaped through the other side of the thorn bush. She ran through the forest faster than ever now, teeth chattering rapidly. She was positive she had a chill.

Bade groaned. When Charlotte had pulled away, he had pulled himself through the thorns halfway. "Well, I'm not getting out of this mess. I feel like a fox." He sighed and wiggled in the thorns. "Ow, ow, ow, sh-it." He groaned again. "Maybe Russell will find me later..."

Charlotte pushed the door to Jake's cabin open, and flopped down onto an open bed. She really could care less if he was there or not.

( She's gonna get freakin' murdered. O>O And raped. ) Bade struggled in the thorn bush. "I...I can't...get out." he breathed. "This was pretty damn stupid. I go after a girl who apparently hates me, when I could've just...just..." He snarled. "I don't know!" He sighed. "Well, now I can't get a cigarette. Might as well wait 'till someone finds..." Bade sniffed the air "Aw, crap. That smells like smoke." ( Mini-forest fire, oh nuus! )

Charlotte sighed, ignoring Jake's snoring. She glared out the window, and for a moment she thought she saw smoke. WAIT. That was smoke. Her heart raced. What about Bade? She hissed out loud, "Let the mother fu-cker save himself."

( 'Kay. ) Bade sighed. "It...can't...be bad. It'll be just like burning my wrist, except more painful and it'll be all over my body." His heart hammered in his chest. "Maybe it's about time I died. But...but..." He swallowed. "Dammit, I'm scared." He could smell it better than he had been able to before.

The smell became stronger, and Charlotte could see the Crimson flames eating at the forest hungrily. Breathing in sharply, Charlotte grabbed a jacket from the floor, which she guessed was Jake's, and ran out the door. She couldn't leave anyone to die. Even Bade, as stupid as he was.

Bade moved his leg away from the approaching flames, bringing it close to his body and wincing. The flames weren't that close, but his foot was pretty close. His legs were so long that they spread out towards the fire. "Damn, damn, damn." Bade cussed loudly. "I hate my life, hate it. Hate it so much." He struggled in the bushes again, flinching several times. "They're so damn close. And I'm so damn scared." He looked up at the sky. "Maybe I'll see my mother- aw, probably not."

Charlotte skidded to a halt next to Bade, jeans coated in mud and ash. She coughed, then asked him, "Bade?" Her voice was scratchy from breathing in smoke.

Bade could've died right then and there. "Yes, I'm alive." he muttered. "Why did you come back?" He looked up at her. She shouldn't be here. This smoke is bad for her. I've smoked long enough so that I won't totally die over this kind of smoke, but she hasn't smoked at all. ...I think. And besides...her baby. "Get out of here. Now." he growled.

"Not without you." Charlotte hissed. "Now how can I get you out?" She looked him over. He looked stuck. Really stuck. Then she remembered the pocket knife she carried around and started to cut the thorns that were holding Bade hostage.

"Oh, scary." Bade winced. "You carry a pocket knife around?" He held his hand out towards her. "Just pull me out if you're strong enough. I can take it. I might have a billion thorns stuck in my skin later, but that's just fine."

Charlotte frowned, sheathed her pocket knife, and grabbed Bade's hand. She let go and started to have a coughing fit. She shook her head and grabbed his hand again. She pulled, and Bade was released. Charlotte landed on her butt, and sat stunned on the ground. The air was chalk-full of smoke now. She coughed again.

"Damn, damn, dammit." Bade picked Charlotte up, his teeth still grit like they had been while Charlotte had pulled him out. He ran, using adrenaline to keep his legs going. The fire had been so close, and the smoke was starting to bother him. Not good. he thought.

Charlotte's eyes watered, and she couldn't stop coughing. Her hair was blackened by smoke and ash. She blinked and looked up. Rain was starting to fall again. That was good. The coughed agian, and this time it rocked through her whole body. And it hurt. She stiffined in Bade's arms. Had she given up her child's life, for Bade's?

Charlotte opened her mouth to speak, but the cold, moist air burned her throat. "I need some honey," she choked out. "There's some in my bag." The honey would soothe her throat, but what about her lungs? Did they have doctors here?

"Honey, right." Bade opened the door to the cabin he stayed in with Russell. "Where's your bag? You stay here. Where's your bag?" He laid her down on Russell's bed. Obviously, it wasn't exactly the best idea to put her down on his own bed. And Russell's bed was closer.

Charlotte pointed to under the window, where her luggage was. She glanced at the window, and noticed it was raining heavily. The fire was definately out by now.
