Charlotte watched the boys in the distance with confusion. She couldn't reconise Bade, or Russell. She simply muttered to Jacob, "Don't be like them when you grow up."

The little boy growled, "I'm not stupid." Charlotte nodded, and they continued their water fight.

Russell clung to Bade's back, shivering. "The water's so cold." he said, teeth chattering.

"Oh, shut up, you wuss. It's not cold." Bade growled. Russell ran a hand over Bade's right arm, and he shuddered.

"You've got goosebumps." Russell said, snickering.

"That's 'cause of you, you freak." Bade snapped, and Russell laughed. "Stop laughing or I'll drown you."

Russell stopped laughing. "Bade," Russell began. "how deep is this water?"

Bade shrugged. "Judging by how far away s*censored* is, I'd say it's, like, forty feet deep." Russell coughed.

"And how are you managing to swim in this water?" he asked quietly.

"You idiot, I already told you. My stepmother made me take swim lessons when I was younger. It just sort of stuck with me, and I just got better over time." Bade sighed. "During the summer, the girls would often hop on my back and tell me to swim to the other side of the lake we were in." He chuckled. "I always made it."

"Impressive. Now, get us back to s*censored*, please?" Russell wrapped his arms around Bade's torso, shaking.

"Do you even know how to swim?" Bade asked, blinking.

"I'd be dead if I didn't." Russell replied.

Charlotte laughed, flinging some more water at Jacob. Then they both stopped and looked at each other. "Hey Jacob," she smiled, "Do you know how to swim in deep water?" Jacob nodded, and Charlotte's eyes glowed. "I'll race you to the other side of the lake then."

Jacob took off in the direction of Bade and Russell ontop of the water. Charlotte followed, but underwater. She was quicker than him, but she stayed near Jacob. She didn't want the kid to drown.

"Could you swim any faster?" Russell whined.

"If I did, you'd freak out." Bade teased, smiling. "I know you would. You're just that wussy."

"Shut up, Bade. You were the one bawling your eyes out earlier." Russell growled.

Bade stayed quiet for a while. "Nice comeback." he commented quietly.

Charlotte swam ahead for a bit, and paused when she was underneath Bade and Russell. She cursed into the water, and breathed out some bubbles. They floated up, and touched Bade's leg. She swam ahead, and waited for Jacob ontop of the water a little ways away.

Jacob went all the way around Bade and Russell, and floated with Charlotte behind them.

Bade jumped, and Russell squealed when he fell off. "What in the world was that for?" Russell asked, his head popping up through the mini-waves.

"Nothing...It's just that something touched my leg." Bade squinted into the dark water.

"...That...might've been me." Russell said, looking away.

Bade's head snapped up. "It wasn't you." he muttered, looking back down. "It felt...like...I dunno, but it disappeared once it touched my leg."

Russell groaned. "Fish? bubbles? C'mon, Bade, let's not spend too much time on this. I don't want to be in the deep water forever." He leaned close to Bade. "There's snapping turtles here!"

Bade smacked the side of Russell's head. "I knew that!" He paused. "Wanna go find one and throw it off the cliff?" he asked, grinning.

"No! It'll bite my hand off!" Russell cried, grabbing Bade's shoulders again. "Now swim, mermaid man."

"...And barnacle boy~"  They both chuckled quietly.

"That's such an old show." Russell said as Bade resumed his swimming.

Charlotte cursed, and watched Bade angrily. Why did he have to be here. She was shivering with rage. Her towel was on that side of the lake.

Jacob remained silent.

Bade pulled Russell off of himself, then stepped up on the sand. He turned to Russell, who was sitting in the water poking something. "What are you doing?" Bade asked, squatting down next to Russell.

"Poking a baby snapping turtle." Russell replied.

Bade blinked at the water. "It's cute." he said, smiling. "Lemme pick it up." He batted Russell's hand away.

"What? so it can bite your finger right off? Nah." Bade had already picked it up, and he was holding it upside down.

"Won't bite me this way." Bade pulled his hand back.

"Are you going to throw it!?" Russell asked, standing up.

"Against the cliff wall. I'mma see if it'll kill it." Russell grabbed Bade's arm.

"No! Don't do that!" Bade's arm inched forward, despite Russell's weight.

Charlotte stared at Bade like he was the devil himself.

Jacob immitated her.

"Dammit, Bade, no!" Russell shouted. "Do you want to be an animal murderer!?"

Bade paused. "...Well, this turtle might kill someone one day. So I'm killing the murderer." He struggled to bring his arm forward.

"You're not going to collect enough momentum like that!" Russell blinked. Well, that's stupid. Give him advice. "Stop it!" Bade rolled his eyes.

Charlotte took a long, deep breath. She swam to the bottom of the lake, grabbed the best rock she could find, and started to swim up again. Half way though, she felt like her lungs would explode, but she continued swimming.

Her head came above the water, and Charlotte gasped for breath. Finally she took her rock, aimed, and whipped it at Bade. It hit him on the back of the head. She quickly dove under the water again, Jacob right behind her.

Bade cried out. "Aw, hell fu-cking no." He ripped Russell away from himself and threw the snapping turtle baby where he saw water ripples. At some point in science, when he had actually been listening, he learned that aiming above a bullseye would actually get you a bullseye, so he used that to aim smack dab in the middle of the water ripples.

"Bade, you jerk!" Russell stepped in front of Bade and slapped him.

"...You slap exactly like a chick, dude." Bade snickered.

"Well, you would know." Russell growled, and Bade frowned.

Bade was fuming, and Russell was trying to calm him down. "Who ever it was, they were probably aiming at me." he said.

"Then I'll kick their as-s for not having good aim." Bade growled, and he stormed up the cliff, followed by Russell.

"Seriously, there's no real reason for you to be so angry..." Russell said, collecting his own clothes. He only pulled his jeans on, as did Bade. "I mean, maybe they were trying to kill a bird. Or...maybe it's payback. Accept payback!"

Bade snorted. "I'll totally do just that." He started walking back towards the cabin. All the way back, Russell was trying to come up with reasons for Bade to calm down. Bade punched him in the stomach once, sick of all his excuses, and Russell shut up.

"I'm going to take a shower." Russell muttered, grabbing a different towel and stepping into the bathroom.

"Whatever." Bade mumbled, curling up on the bed he had shared with Charlotte just the other night. She made a big deal out of everything. he told himself. You can live without her. Besides, she's really weird. And goth-ish. And stubborn. Who wants a stubborn goth girlfriend? I certainly don't.

Bade looked up when he heard a door open. "Hey," said a female voice. "is it okay if I stay here? The camp manager or whatever said it was okay, and that they'd have a new bed here in, like, an hour, so..."

"You sound familiar." Bade said, sitting up.

The female snorted. "Sound? Yeah, okay."

"But you also sound like a guy." Bade smirked.

"That's something every girl wants to hear." she said, stepping into the light. "It's bright in here...Bade?"

"Yeah," Bade blinked, rubbing the back of his head. "How do you know my name?"

"Mellonie. My name's Mellonie." she replied, walking up to Bade. "Don't ya remember me? I'm Mell, remember?"

Bade blinked. "Oh, Mell! Hey, I haven't seen you in forever~! What're you doing here?"

"My parents sent me here, obviously." Mell stuck her tongue out at Bade. "I see you're still just as clueless as ever."

Bade snickered. "Yeah, sure. Did they send you here 'cause you think you're a guy?"

"I don't think I'm a guy." Mell frowned at Bade. "I just want to be a guy. Jeez, get it right." She crossed her arms.

"I see you're still binding your chest." Bade said, flicking his head.

"What?! Did you just check me out?" Mell blinked at him.

"Nah. It's just I remember that you had really big-"

Mell cut him off. "Yeah, yeah. We all know that." She waved a hand at him. "But they still show, don't they?" Bade frowned.

"So now you want me to check you out." Mell punched him, and he grunted. "Yup. Still punch ten times as hard as any girl I've ever met."

Charlotte let the tears fall. The tears she'd been holding back for hours. Maybe..Maybe I should go apologise. I mean, I'm the one who overreacted. I'm the one who messed everything up. Maybe I am crazy. Maybe, just maybe, I would have ended up here, pregnant or not. She glanced down at her stomach, And yet, My baby still has no father ..

She stood up, determined. Let's go apologise. If he doesn't accept, then well, at least I tried. I should probably tell him what I said earlier was a lie.. I do love him, and mean it. But what if he doesn't believe me? ... Charlotte didn't want to answer that. She walked towards the cabin with extreme slowness.

"He's so cute!" Mell pinched Russell's cheek. "I actually feel attracted to him!" She was sitting on Bade's lap, leaning over so she could stroke Russell's hair and coo at him. "I wanna squish him!" She giggled.

"You hurt me..." Russell rubbed his cheek.  

"I kind of feel uncomfortable." Bade said loudly, lifting his head up.

"Well then you shouldn't have taken the only chair there was in this cabin." Mell said, turning to Bade. She turned her attention back to Russell, who squirmed everytime she brushed his hair away. "Stop that. You're ruining your hair. And I just fixed it!" She paused. "Hey, Bade, do you have a cigarette?" She turned in place to look at Bade.

"Do I have a cigarette?" Bade chuckled. "You know I do." He stuck his hand in his pocket, taking out two cigarettes. "I think my lighter's in my other pocket..."

"Naw, s'okay. I've got one." Mell stuck a hand down her shirt and pulled out her own lighter.

"You've gotten pretty girly, Mell. A lot of girls keep things there." Bade said after she had lit his cigarette.

Mell rolled her eyes and took a light drag in. "Whatever." she mumbled, beginning to play with Russell's hair again.

Charlotte hesitated by the door. I need my bags and stuff anyways ... I'm sure Bade doesn't want me in there anymore. Charlotte opened the door, and walked over to get her bag. She turned around, bag in hand, to apologise when she saw Mell sitting on Bade's lap. Fresh tears streamed down her face. "I-I was just getting my bag," she mumbled, voice cracking numerous times. She rushed out of the cabin and back towards the cliff. He doesn't need me anymore.. Jacob will be fine on his own.. Stephen's probably dead... What's the harm in jumping off a low cliff? I'm sure I'll die as soon as I hit the rocks. No pain, right?

"Dammit!" Bade shoved Mell off of his lap, running after Charlotte. Mell fell on top of Russell, and she grinned.

"I'm up for it if you are." she said. Russell swallowed.

"I like guys more..." he said quietly.

"And I like girls. Can we make out now?" Russell turned his head away from Mell.

"Charlotte!" Bade looked around, then saw a flash of white hair. "Where's she going...?" He followed her, running as fast as he could. "This isn't fair!" he shouted. "You got a head-fu.cking-start!"
