Josh's throat swelled. "No. If I hadn't been so stupid..." He stared at her, speachless for a moment, "This is all my fault..." ____ Charlotte nodded, and stood up. She started to walk in the direction of the cafeteria, when a car caught her attention. It looked just like her Grandmother's. She watched it.

"I'm sorry Alice," his voice grew more like a growl as he went on, "And if I ever figure out, who did this to you, I swear I'll kill them."

Josh frowned, and stared at her. "Then explain what happened to you," he argued flatly. __________ Charlotte's gradmother stepped out of the car, and they stared at each other for a moment. The old woman sighed, "I need you Charlotte. It's not the same without you. I can't do much for myself anymore, and the gardner isn't much help. I love you, please come home. I won't be around much longer, Charlotte. If you don't come back with me, this might be the last time you ever see me." She met her granddaughter's gaze carefully. Charlotte couldn't breath. She was too busy trying to controll the flow of tears coming to her eyes. It wasn't fair. Go back home and be free with her loving and kind Grandmother, and see her old friend Seth again, or stay here with Bade, and be doomed forever? "Can Bade come?" she choked out, pointing to Bade. "No." she said quietly, "No more boys for you." Charlotte started to feel dizzy. Who would she choose? Her own Grandmother, or Bade?

Charlotte's head spun out of controll. She had both her arms wrapped around Bade's waist. She stared at her Grandmother with wide, blurry eyes. This couldn't be happening. She opened her mouth to speak, but her Grandmother interrupted, "I haven't got all day, Darling." Charlotte suck in a deep breath, and glanced up at Bade.

Alice closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I remember leaving your cabin, I went down the trail we walked earlier..someone was there. They said something, and I told them to leave, and move out of my way. Then he or she took something out of their pocket...they (gasp) lunged at me with it...That's all I can remember besides the pain...," she said trying to breathe right again...
